Chapter 38 - Chapter Thirty-Eight: The Hand of God

Hua Ruobing was already drunk.

A full glass of red wine was poured straight into her mouth. She wore a smile as beautiful and sacred as that of an immortal fairy. At this moment, every man in Love Silent was watching her, stealing glances at this breathtaking woman.

A seductive smile rippled across her face, the soft blush of intoxication spreading over her cheeks. Yet inside her heart, she was crying.

Why—why did everything turn out this way?

She had grown up in a family that was not well-off, but she was ambitious. At all times, she knew that only through endless effort could she obtain what she desired. In university, she had encountered many outstanding men, some from extremely wealthy families, yet her firm convictions supported her, and she had never been moved.

She wanted to create her own sky. She did not want to live by relying on a man.

Perhaps she had been too young back then, not understanding the meaning of love. So during her four years in university and the four years after entering society at Feiyang, her heart—always cold and reserved—had never stirred for anyone.

For twenty-six years, she had clenched her teeth and walked step by step to where she was today. She could not be defeated by anyone.

But this man—after entering her life, after breaking into her heart—gave her such a strange reason for rejection: he did not like virgins.

To save one's purity for the man one loves most in life—this is a woman's dream. On the wedding night, in the bridal chamber, she could proudly tell her beloved that what she gave him was her complete body and soul, without a single regret.

Since he did not like virgins, then what use was it for her to keep it?

Looking at the wolf-like men surrounding her, Hua Ruobing's lips curled into a disdainful expression. In her heart, only he was perfect, and only he would not be tempted by a woman's body. Otherwise, during those treatments, how could he have never taken advantage of her?

Her eyes could barely stay open, her head spinning. The lecherous gazes around her grew more intense by the second. This night was destined to be a mad one.

"Guan Xing, I hate you—"

"Guan Xing, I love you—"

If not for the drunkenness, if not for being lost, with Hua Ruobing's personality, she would never have expressed love and hatred so boldly.

She hoped that when she opened her eyes tomorrow, she would no longer be a virgin. She hoped that at that moment, he would accept her. As Hua Ruobing sank into unconsciousness, her mind filled with wild fantasies. Everything around her lost its last trace of clarity as she collapsed onto the bar counter.

The night was already deep, yet not a single person in the Yun family was asleep.

Because they had received news—God had finally taken action.

In just one day, Yun Tian Group's stock had dropped by thirty percent, making them once again feel the terrifying power of God. Even the hot-tempered Yun Diao was now silent.

Yun Tian Alliance's mortal enemy, the Huaxia Society, knew that Yun Tian Alliance was facing the threat of God, and recently their movements had become increasingly aggressive. Half of the six major streets in the capital had already been lost. Even worse, Yun Long, the head of the Yun family, still ordered their hidden forces not to move.

Finally unable to endure the suffocating silence, Yun Diao suddenly stood up and shouted, "Dad, we have no way out anymore! Let's strike! I'll chop those bastards from the Huaxia Society into minced meat!"

Besides the three Yun men, there were two women present as well, and even Old Peng was there, his brows tightly furrowed, deeply troubled.

One of the women was Yun Ying's wife and also Old Peng's daughter. She was leaning against Yun Ying, softly comforting her husband.

The other was a very young girl, around eighteen or nineteen. She was the youngest daughter of the Yun family—Yun Ying. Currently studying at Tsinghua University in the capital, she had come home during a rare holiday, only to find the Yun family in such dire straits.

"Yun Ying, go to bed early. These matters don't concern you," Yun Long said gently. "Your father and brothers will handle it. Tomorrow morning, I'll have Old Wang take you back to school. Don't come back for a while."

He doted on his daughter, but this time the situation was beyond what the Yun family could bear. Yun Long did not want her to be dragged into it.

Yun Ying shook her head lightly. She had never involved herself in family affairs. If she hadn't learned the full situation from her sister-in-law, she would have gone to sleep long ago.

"Dad, how could you make such a big mistake? Why don't we ask Uncle Qian for help—use some government power?" she suggested. Calling him "uncle" was only because the situation truly required outside help. In fact, Yun Ying disliked Qian Shaoming—a greedy and stingy man. She had no idea how someone like that had climbed to his current position.

Hearing this, Yun Long smiled bitterly. Old Peng spoke first.

"It's useless. People like Qian Shaoming smile when taking money, but when trouble comes, it's already merciful if they don't stab you in the back. If God wipes out Yun Tian Alliance, the most likely thing he'll do is demand even more money from us." A true veteran—he saw through human darkness at a glance.

Everything had reached a dead end.

Yun Long finally stood up. His towering figure looked slightly aged now. His cold voice carried the ruthless sharpness of a king of the underworld.

"If that's the case, then we fight. Even if heaven wants to destroy my Yun family, I'll make heaven pay the price."

With a sudden change in his gaze, he roared at Yun Diao, "Second brother, gather our forces! Drive the Huaxia Society back! Keep a close watch on all the foreigners. I don't believe they're really God!"

Everyone present knew that the dark king of the capital, the old master of Yun Tian Alliance, had finally decided to face everything head-on.

"Clap, clap, clap—"

Applause slowly echoed through the room.

"Quite some backbone," a voice said. "But we are God. We decide your fate."

The voice was stiff and unclear, but its meaning was unmistakable.

Yun Diao moved.

Like a leopard, swift as lightning. Even Old Peng couldn't see his movement clearly. After ten years in the underworld, Yun Diao's instinct for danger was sharper than anyone's.

His punch surged like a raging tide, crashing forward like a thousand-ton bell. This was Yun Diao's power—very few could evade it.

"Not bad skills," one of the men said calmly.

Among the three, the most massive one—nearly two meters tall—swept out a kick. His body flickered like a shadow. As his leg met Yun Diao's fist, he didn't retreat but advanced instead. His clenched fist slammed straight into Yun Diao's chest.

With a dull boom, Yun Diao groaned and was blasted back more than three meters, landing right in front of Yun Long. Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth. His heart meridian was injured; he could no longer muster any strength.

"Big brother—!" Yun Ying cried out.

Before her voice fell, a black gun barrel was already aimed at her head. In front of her was a youthful, refined Western face.

"Miss, keep your voice down," he said calmly. "I don't like killing women—especially beautiful women."

This face belonged to Xiao Mi, the youngest of the three men from the bar.

Yun Ying was indeed beautiful. At eighteen or nineteen, she was in the prime of youth. Her academic upbringing gave her an air of intelligence. Her wide eyes flickered in terror. She covered her mouth with her small hand, swallowing the rest of her words.

Standing about 1.67 meters tall, her slender figure and vibrant grace made her look elegant and charming.

"What, Xiao Mi, you've got spring fever?" the strongest of the three Western men said with a grin, pulling off his headscarf to reveal a domineering face. "Can't bear to kill her? Want me to do it for you? Later I'll find you ten or eight women just like her. Don't fall for a beauty trap."

Since the boss had ordered the Yun family wiped out, he didn't care if they saw his face.

No one dared speak again.

The calmest ones in the room were Yun Long and Old Peng. Old veterans like them viewed life and death with unusual detachment.

Yun Long asked, "You are God?"

Among the three, the tallest—Lanfo—revealed his handsome face. A smile even appeared on his lips. To him, killing countless people was nothing cruel.

He did not bother answering such a foolish question.

"There are thirty-six gunmen in this compound," Lanfo said lightly. "If you want them all dead, just say the word—we'd be happy to help. Oh, and one more thing—tonight, the Huaxia Society will launch a full-scale attack on Yun Tian Alliance. I doubt anyone will be free to come to your aid."

That smile was unmistakably the triumphant sneer of a demon.
