Good news—I was officially back on the job of finding the wicked woman.
Which, on one hand, meant I could control whether my devil-incarnate boss ever found her or not. Power. Sweet, delicious power. But on the other hand? It also meant extra work. And let me tell you, I was already doing the job of a secretary, a cleaner, a reminder app, a bodyguard, and—at this point—his emotional punching bag. Adding private investigator to the list felt like the universe mocking me.
Still, I'd take it.
Because if anyone was going to decide how and when Mr. Quinn Cortez got his so-called justice, it was going to be me. The very woman he was hunting. The irony was so thick I could choke on it.
