Chapter 14 - Cramps Are Normal

Desmond's voice rumbled again, deeper this time, with an edge I couldn't mistake. "Let her go. Now."

Karl reluctantly stepped back, eyes gleaming with frustration. "You're interrupting something, Desmond."

"I don't give a damn," Desmond growled. "Back off, or I'll rip you apart."

The tension between the alphas was thick, palpable. My stomach twisted into knots.

Jake, still silent, remained at the edge of the room, his mask still in place. But his body was coiled, like he was waiting for something, watching. Watching me.

I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know if Desmond and Jake were here to save me—or just to make the situation worse.

But I knew one thing: I wasn't ready. Not for them. Not for any of this. And somehow, I was still fighting—even if I didn't know how to fight anymore.

Karl was the first to move.

He pushed back, weight lifting off me, and I sucked in a sharp breath—relief crashing into panic because I still wasn't safe.
