Chapter 6 - the powers emerge

We walked to the library, and I gathered my things so we could do school work and talk. We sat down at a table in the back, and he pulled out my chair for me. I tried not to smile because it really wasn't all that nice, well, l that's what I keep telling myself. I started on my work, and he was basically hovering over my shoulder, super excited about learning what demons do in school. We talked about little things like what we liked to do in our free time and what our favourite colour was. Then a rushing headache hit me in the library chair, and I fell back.

Suddenly, I was back in the blood cave. I walked faster to the throne room than before and waited at the entrance for an invitation.

Hera said, "Come in." I walked a little slower than before, not totally thrilled like I was last time. I bowed, "greetings, your majesties. Is there a reason you called me here?"

The royal demons bowed their heads at me, and Lilith screeched, "You disobeyed mother!" I looked at her, politely confused, "What are you talking about, your highness?"

She growled, but Hera held her back, "What she means is that you are getting too close with Ezra, and that can't happen; war will arise over your infatuation with the angel."

I stand my ground, just because they are royalty doesn't mean they can tell me who I can and can't like. "I'm sorry, your majesty, but I was just trying to get Ezra to trust me and not think I'm up to anything. I hope you will forgive me in the long run, but this is something I have to do to keep myself safe."

I bowed and tried pushing myself out of this dream-type thing. I did it successfully, but when I woke up in my chair in the library, I still had a raging headache. I looked around and found Ezra's concerned face staring at me, shaking my shoulder. When he saw my eyes open, he sighed in relief and sat back in his chair.

"Thank God! I was about to go and get the headmaster. Are you ok?" I sighed, "I'm fine, I just have a headache, and I wanna fly and stretch my wings." He nodded, "I'm coming with you."

I looked at him, confused, "Why would you want to?" He looked away, embarrassed. "I wanna make sure you don't pass out in the air." He wouldn't meet my eyes. "Fine, let's go; the headache will subside."

When we got outside of the school, I stretched my wings and launched myself into the brisk, refreshing air. Once I was about a hundred feet in the air, I closed my eyes and soaked up the dim sun and the cold air.

Ezra flew up beside me, shivering, "I never would have thought that Hell could be freezing, in the wide silver city, it is comfortably warm."

I laughed, "I guess the phrase 'when Hell freezes over' is more true than most people think. If you're too cold, go back inside."

He shook his head and kept quiet while I enjoyed the outdoors in the afternoon. I was glad he didn't try to talk my ears off. I looked out into the distance and saw that the ground Hell stood on looked infected or just dying in general. 'This might be what Queen Hera was talking about, the parasitic entity here to wreak havoc.' Ezra dropped suddenly, and I had to race down to catch him safely, and surprisingly, he is surprisingly very light.

I fly carefully and slowly to my room because I don't want to deal with Christopher; he would think I did something to him. I set him gently on my bed and sat with Cinder after I put a warm towel over his eyes.

Cinder looked at me, confused, her coat changed to say, 'What's wrong with him?'

I scratched her head, "I think there's a threat coming that made him drop like a bag of rocks from a hundred feet in the air."

To pass the time, I started looking through the library book I found yesterday about finding my memories. A few hours later, Ezra started to stir awake. I kneeled beside him and pulled the towel off his eyes. He looked up at me and smiled, "What happened? And I told you that you do care about me." I rolled my eyes, "Something happened to you while we were in the air, and you just dropped. I brought you to my room because I didn't want to deal with Christopher thinking that I did something to you."

He furrowed his brow, "What do you think happened? Because I swear that's not normal for me." I squinted my eyes at him. "So you don't think I did it?"

He shook his head and lay back down. I sighed, "You are too trusting, Ezra. It's gonna get you killed one day."

Ezra put his hand on my shoulder, "Tell me the truth, what do you think of me?"

I looked away, "I think you're really sweet, too trusting, and I feel very protective of you, and also you're adorable."

'What the hell? I didn't mean to say that.' I looked at him, confused, "What did you do to me?" He said, "What do you mean? I just asked you a question, and you answered."

"No, you definitely did something to me, and I partially trusted you. Get out." I growl.

He said, "Hey, I promise I didn't do anything!"

I yelled and started heating up, "Get. Out. Right. Now!" And my wings unfurled, and my eyes glowed red. He got up off my bed really fast and tripped over his wings.

"Ok, ok, I'm out!" And he left. I cooled off after a few minutes.
