Chapter 6: Training! Yagami Mizuki! My Father's Legacy!

Around 4 p.m.

The ninja academy let out for the day.

Ryosuke Yagami said goodbye to a few classmates he was on good terms with, grabbed his small schoolbag, and quickly ran out of the school.

Konoha Village was called a village, but it was actually quite large.

Ryosuke jogged all the way home—it took about six or seven minutes to get there.

"I'm back!"

He entered the foyer, changed into indoor slippers, tossed his small schoolbag onto the table, and ran straight into the yard.

"Ryosuke's back? Want some snacks?"

In the kitchen, Yagami Mizuki—who was already preparing dinner—peeked out and asked with a gentle smile.

"No need, Mom! I'm going to train in the yard!"

Ryosuke gave a hasty reply and dashed into the yard.

"This child..."

Yagami Mizuki smiled and shook her head, then returned to the kitchen to continue her work.

In this life, Ryosuke came from a single-parent family. His father had sacrificed his life when Ryosuke was five or six years old while carrying out a mission that was said to be extremely dangerous.

After that, he'd lived with his mother, Yagami Mizuki.

Mother and son depended on each other.

Yagami Mizuki was a medical chunin who worked at Konoha Hospital. Since it wasn't wartime, the hospital wasn't particularly busy, so she got off work fairly early.

The Yagami family wasn't wealthy, but they weren't poor either.

Both of Ryosuke's parents had been ninjas. His father was a Special Jonin, and the rewards he'd earned from missions were quite substantial, so the family had some savings.

All things considered, Ryosuke had lived a pretty comfortable life for the first ten years.

It was just that his talent had been too ordinary, and he'd been lazy and loved to eat.

That's why his strength was so pathetic.

However, all of that was now in the past.

With his past life memories awakened, Yagami Ryosuke would definitely not continue living a life of idleness and complacency like before.

In the courtyard.

Ryosuke walked up to a large tree planted in the yard.

"Let's start by practicing chakra control. After all, with such a sudden increase in chakra—even with the Sharingan—I can control it to some extent, but I'm still far from excellent control."

A ninja didn't necessarily need to know powerful ninjutsu, but they absolutely had to have excellent chakra control.

Otherwise, even with three portions of chakra, you couldn't achieve the same effect as one portion from a ninja with proper control!

The other two and a half portions would just be wasted.

Moreover, some ninjutsu required a high level of chakra control.

Typical examples included medical ninjutsu and the Rasengan.

Ryosuke's mother was a medical ninja, so his family had many scrolls on how to improve chakra control.

It was just that Ryosuke had been far too lazy in the past. Besides, he hadn't had much chakra back then—probably less than a third of a typical genin's reserves.

With so little chakra, what was the point of training control skills?

"Let's start with tree climbing. I think this is how it's done..."

Standing before the large tree, Ryosuke began to tentatively climb.

He first stepped onto the tree trunk with one foot, using chakra to adhere it to the bark. Then he tried to lift his other foot to step up, but as soon as he lifted it—

THUD!

He fell to the ground on his rear.

"Ow!"

Ryosuke rubbed his sore bottom.

"Everything is difficult at the beginning. Keep going!"

He comforted himself, stood up, and continued practicing.

Before he knew it, Ryosuke had been practicing tree climbing in the yard for over an hour.

From being unable to take even a single step at the start, he could now take three steps upward.

"Ryosuke, dinner's ready!"

At that moment, Yagami Mizuki came out from the house to call him in for dinner.

"Coming, Mom!"

Ryosuke wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at the tree in front of him.

Let's practice more after dinner.

Training wasn't something that could be accomplished overnight.

Ryosuke didn't expect to become fat in one bite.

Besides, who knew? Maybe he'd unlock talent attributes related to chakra control in the future. Wouldn't that make things twice as effective with half the effort?

After taking a shower, Ryosuke arrived at the dining room.

"Thanks for the meal!"

Across from him, Yagami Mizuki smiled warmly as she looked at her son.

"Eat more so you can grow tall and strong."

As for her son, Mizuki didn't expect him to achieve greatness. She was content as long as he could grow up safely, marry a good wife, and give her one or two grandchildren.

As a ninja herself, Yagami Mizuki was well aware of how dangerous the ninja profession was.

Ryosuke's father had died in the line of duty.

Therefore, even though her son didn't show any outstanding ninja talent, Yagami Mizuki wasn't disappointed at all.

In fact, she felt a bit relieved.

That way, when her son grew up, he wouldn't need to undertake those dangerous missions—unlike his father, who as a Special Jonin had been forced to take on life-threatening assignments.

"Mom, you should eat more too! You've lost weight lately!"

Ryosuke didn't feel alienated from his mother after his past life memories awakened. On the contrary, because his mind had matured, he was now better able to understand the hardships that Mizuki had endured.

Under the warm glow of the lights, a mother and son finished their dinner in a warm atmosphere.

After dinner, Ryosuke returned to his room to practice his ninjutsu.

However, the only ninjutsu he knew so far were the Academy's Three Basic Body Technique.

After practicing them several times and feeling he'd completely mastered them, Ryosuke picked up a ninjutsu scroll lying nearby.

This was a ninjutsu scroll left behind by his deceased father.

As a Special Jonin, Ryosuke's father had left behind a considerable legacy—including scrolls containing several ninjutsu techniques.

Most of them were Water Release jutsu, because his father's chakra nature had been water, and he'd been skilled in Water Release techniques and swordsmanship.

Among these ninjutsu scrolls, there were three Water Release techniques: two C-rank and one B-rank.

Not all ninjas were like Kakashi, who could easily master over a thousand ninjutsu. Otherwise, Kakashi wouldn't have become famous throughout the ninja world for that very reason.

Most chunin only knew one or two C-rank ninjutsu. Most of the time, ninjutsu were key moves that determined the outcome of battles, and they wouldn't be used lightly.

Special Jonin like Ryosuke's father were the ones who mastered more ninjutsu.

But they were unlikely to be very high-level techniques.

After all, he'd been just a commoner ninja.

There weren't many resources available.

Actually, that was the most crucial point.

"Water Release: Wild Water Wave... this shouldn't be too difficult to learn."

Ryosuke glanced at the ninjutsu scroll in his hand, thinking that with his improved talent, it shouldn't be hard for him to learn this C-rank technique.
