Chapter 10 - Shopping

By the time Long Tian opened his eyes again, morning had come.

He still couldn't cultivate the second tier of the Nine-Dragon Blood Refinement section. He would need cultivation resources to do so.

He opened the door, stepped out of the room, and climbed down the stairs.

He met Aunt Anna in the dining room with Meng Lingxue, who was still operating her system while eating.

He sighed, wondering if his wife had even slept through the night.

Aunt Anna noticed him and greeted him, "Young Master, good morning. Breakfast is ready."

"Aunt Anna, good morning. Also, why do you still call me 'young master'? Just call me Long Tian." He smiled.

Aunt Anna nodded at his words while glancing at Meng Lingxue.

He noticed and turned to her, "Good morning."

Meng Lingxue nodded at him, still operating her laptop, which made the moment awkward.

Long Tian sat in one of the dining chairs as Aunt Anna served him his food.

Staring at the rich delicacies before him, he dove into the food.

Rice porridge with abalone, cucumber, chicken, and egg; steamed dumplings with milk.

"Wow, this is delicious." He complimented.

As he ate, Meng Lingxue brought an envelope and placed it beside his plate.

Long Tian paused, dropping his cutlery as he wondered what it contained.

He opened it and saw a black bank card and a letter.

"That bank card contains 100 million yuan. The password is 0000, and the letter is a recommendation for a job interview at my company," Meng Lingxue said perfunctorily.

Long Tian's eyes widened; he hadn't expected her to give such an amount to a stranger who had just become her husband.

And judging by her behavior, what she did seemed nonchalant to her.

"Thanks, wifey," he said happily.

"Just buy some new clothes. Even though we aren't supposed to reveal our marriage status to others, I can't allow you to wear those clothes around; they disgust me. And for the interview, you should know what to say and what to wear," she said coldly.

Long Tian nodded, already getting used to the coldness in her voice.

She looked at his happy expression and shook her head. She preferred to make him a driver or security man; this would prevent rumors from spreading if they were caught going home together or living in the same place.

But with his skinny body, he would just be cannon fodder.

She took her laptop and headed upstairs, leaving Long Tian, who was eating his breakfast.

When he saw her again, she was already dressed for work, with a white shirt and black skirt. She carried her jacket and her bag in her hand, leaving Long Tian admiring her beauty.

After he had finished eating, he carried the plates to the kitchen, planning to wash them, but Aunt Anna wouldn't agree, no matter what he said, so he left it to her.

Entering his room, he reopened the envelope and looked at the black bank card.

He slowly put it back and read the letter. It was an interview for the position of a sales representative.

This would be useful in his plans. For now, he needs a foundation and identity while investigating his family.

The interview is scheduled for 1pm at the location here.

He washed his clothes, drying them in a dryer, and within minutes, they were ready to wear.

He put on his clothes and grabbed his bag. His destination was somewhere he could buy clothes.

He headed out into the neighborhood.

He walked to a nearby antique shop, not far from the estate.

What Long Tian didn't realize was that the place he entered was a popular antique store; it sold rare and expensive clothes, and only the wealthy could enter.

When he entered, a female sales associate greeted him.

At first, she thought she had another wealthy customer, but looking at Long Tian, he was wearing ordinary clothes, and his face was average.

Anger caught her before she forced it down, forcing a smile, and she greeted him, "Welcome to Royal Antique Store."

Long Tian nodded at her. "I am here to buy clothes; show me all that you have."

The female sales associate snickered inwardly, wondering what a pauper like him could buy.

She was waiting for him to see the price tag and leave. She had seen numerous scenarios like this.

She brought Long Tian to where their cheapest clothes were, and even though they were cheap, the lowest price was 1000 yuan.

She was expecting him to leave, but his next words made her anger rise.

"Is this all you have? If so, it seems I have come to the wrong store," Long Tian said.

To him, the fabric of these clothes wasn't strong or original. The clothes he wore, even though they're plain, were made from material that wasn't ordinary.

Only someone who knows the worth of things can recognize it.

The female sales associate didn't bother hiding her anger. "Please, sorry for the offense; our shop is somewhere only classy people can enter. I don't know what a poor man like you can buy; if not, I will chase you out."

Her words caused a commotion, and everyone started gathering where Long Tian stood. His clothes had attracted them.

"Another one had come. I wonder if he will run when he sees most of the price tag."

"Just a pauper who thinks he can show off."

"Such people need to be taught a lesson."

Long Tian was stumped for a moment when he heard the murmurs of the crowd. He had just come to buy clothes to wear; how had it turned out to be the fact that he was just playing?

He looked at the female sales associate and saw that her gaze was disdainful.

He looked and asked, "How sure are you that I don't have money to pay for this?"

His words made the crowd burst into laughter. Long Tian wondered if they had drunk something because he didn't feel anything funny in his words.

"What can a pauper like you do?"
