Chapter 6 - 6. Zoura's Qualifications

The next morning, David woke up early. After finishing breakfast, he left the house with his Zoura—he was heading to his family's Pokémon Gym.

However, David's father wasn't with him. During breakfast, David had overheard his father mention that the northern region seemed restless lately. A large Secret Realm might fully merge and descend upon their world soon. As a Gym Leader, his father needed to travel with several other Gym Leaders from the Imperial City to monitor the situation and prevent any potential disasters.

This was the duty of a Gym Trainer.

At the dining table, David couldn't help but show a slightly puzzled expression. Now that he thought about it, could his Zoura have escaped from this very Secret Realm? Could it be a Secret Realm from the Hisui period?

Since he had plans to meet Luke and the others in the afternoon, David decided not to waste his morning. He headed to the Gym early to train Zoura, assess its basic capabilities, and observe the effects of the Speed Potion it had absorbed.

In this world, Gyms served as the representative symbol and primary protective force of every city. Their scale was far, far larger than what one might see in simple stories.

Beyond their original role of training newcomers and issuing badges, Gyms played a crucial part in city defense. They resisted invasions from wild Pokémon, guarded against the descent of Secret Realms, and protected the city's safety—all responsibilities of a Gym Trainer. Rights and responsibilities always went hand in hand, which explained why powerful Trainers held such high social status.

Situations where any new Trainer who had just received their first Pokémon could challenge a Gym Leader were practically impossible in the real world. Under normal circumstances, Gym Leaders stayed extremely busy. Most of their time was spent either on personal training or completing tasks assigned by the League, leaving them no time to waste.

Moreover, a Gym couldn't possibly consist of just a few people—a Gym Leader and a referee—like in simplified stories.

In reality, a standard large-scale Gym included not only the Gym Leader but also many Professional Trainers working under the Gym's name, teachers who instructed apprentices, disciples who stayed to work at the Gym after completing their training, a large number of apprentices recruited by the Gym, and auxiliary personnel responsible for various tasks. David's family Gym alone employed at least several thousand people.

Generally speaking, those apprentices were the opponents most ordinary challengers faced.

Only when Superior Trainers prepared to formally challenge the Gym to qualify for important competitions would the Gym Leader take time to engage in Pokémon battles with them.

After getting out of the car, David walked along while considering the upcoming training. Before long, he arrived in front of a massive landmark building. Hanging on a structure dozens of meters high, resembling a triumphal arch, was an enormous signboard—Divine Dragon Gym.

Just like schools and research institutes, this vast Gym occupied a large area on the outskirts of the city.

Although far from the city center, the front of the Gym still featured a large plaza capable of easily accommodating tens of thousands of people. In the most central and prominent position stood a colossal bas-relief sculpture—a scene depicting an azure divine dragon, symbolizing the sky, flying above while suppressing two deities representing the earth and ocean below.

The intricate textures and vivid expressions made the sculpture appear lifelike, clearly the work of a master artist.

Merchants waiting to conduct business with tourists from all directions were already preparing their goods in the plaza. Tourists who had arrived early to visit and take photos were gradually gathering around the sculpture. As an iconic location in League City, it naturally attracted many sightseers.

After crossing the plaza and passing through an entrance guarded by two giant Dragonite stone statues, David finally entered the interior of the Gym. The inside of this Gym was at least dozens of times larger than the plaza he had just crossed. The backyard, where the Gym's Pokémon were kept, even encompassed an entire mountain and a lake.

Such a magnificent complex left David astonished, even though he had experienced it through his memories. Seeing it in person was completely different.

Only in the Pokémon world, with the power of Pokémon, could such impressive structures be built with relative ease.

Because it was his family's Gym, David was recognized by the front desk staff as soon as he entered. After a simple greeting at the reception, David headed directly to the innermost VIP training field of the Gym.

Outside the training field, he placed his palm on the sensor device in front of the door. With a soft beep, the door made of special alloy material rose upward.

Upon entering, David turned on the lights. Under the illumination, an indoor training field measuring thirty meters by thirty meters by ten meters appeared before his eyes. The entire space was covered with special materials and filled with various exercise equipment and testing instruments.

Ignoring the little fox, who seemed to have discovered new toys and was running around everywhere with excitement, David first opened the system's Pokédex function to view Zoura's detailed information.

The current Pokémon's average physical development is approximately 1.3 times that of the same species. Leg muscle strength is approximately 1.9 times stronger, and body flexibility is approximately 2.3 times greater. It is recommended to improve physical fitness appropriately, strengthen training in speed and flexibility, and supplement with massage and relaxation after weighted training to prevent hidden injuries.

The current Pokémon's Psychic power is approximately 6.5 to 11 times that of its peers. Current Psychic power can be further increased with proper stimulation. It is recommended to focus on strengthening Psychic power and improving reaction speed. Calm Mind training is a recommended method.

Looking at the screen that only he could see, David was momentarily stunned. He only now realized the true function of the Pokédex. This detailed data was incredibly comprehensive!

This was simply... David had to admit that he had underestimated this function before. This detailed analysis was far more specific and accurate than anything he had seen at the research institute. As expected, none of the system's functions were useless.

However, it was clear that Zoura's talent was truly exceptional. It had already reached Level 9 shortly after birth, its physical development was close to average for its species, and it had mastered numerous moves. Most impressive was the inherited Extrasensory move, which served as its strongest offensive technique at this stage. The fact that it could inherit this move demonstrated that Zoura's talent in Psychic abilities was highly unusual, truly deserving of the system's "Legendary" evaluation.

More importantly, its potential matched Gallade's from before—Zoura's potential was also red, even a deeper shade of red than Gallade's.
