Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Little Eula's Tears

Little Eula stared blankly at Cid.

Cid felt a slight confusion.

Could it be…

That my smile is too creepy?

Though it was a bit embarrassing, Cid had some clear self-awareness. When he smiled wholeheartedly, his expression really did resemble the suspicious uncle in manga who lures innocent little girls.

And back when he played King of Glory with friends, they had also said his laugh was extremely sleazy.

Thinking of this, Cid restrained his smile and made his expression serious.

Then little Eula wore a frightened look and instinctively shrank back with the blanket.

Oh no, I forgot that when taking photos before, the photographer told me not to look so fierce.

My normal expression might be quite intimidating…

Giao! (in a monstrous yelling tone)

Why didn't I have this problem when getting along with little Barbara or little Hu Tao?

Cid's expression became somewhat at a loss.

At this moment, he only felt embarrassment reaching the skies.

"How about… child, you eat first?"

Little Eula shook her head, opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Cid watched as little Eula tried to crawl out from the blankets and quickly stopped her. "Just sit up—that's fine. Don't catch a chill later."

Little Eula stared blankly at Cid.

In the end, she still stood up wrapped in the blanket, swaying left and right as she searched for something.

Then she seemed to remember something.

Finally, she looked at Cid with a pale face.

???

Cid didn't understand.

In the end, he silently watched as little Eula raised her arms in a posture as if holding something in her hands.

"Honored and noble traveler, you have descended like the fleeting light of dawn, saving me from peril.

I, Eula of the Lawrence clan, now perform the ritual of bowing with sword in hand to offer you my highest gratitude.

May you accept this supreme honor bestowed by the thousand-year Lawrence family."

Is this the etiquette of the Lawrence family?

For some reason, watching little Eula—awkwardly draped in a blanket yet forcefully pretending to hold a sword while performing the ritual…

So cute… and it makes me want to laugh a little…

Cid couldn't help but let a smile appear at the corners of his mouth.

Little Eula's face turned red, but her eyes still stared straight at Uncle Cid.

I'll play along—just treat it as humoring a child.

"Ahem, Eula of the ancient nobility, I have already felt your precious gratitude, as beautiful as the first drop of morning dew.

Now, I shall bestow food upon you in return. Let's eat."

Uncle Cid said this while handing the bowl of porridge to little Eula.

Little Eula stared blankly at the porridge in the bowl.

Ah… Could it be that because my etiquette wasn't proper, little Eula's brain program got stuck?

Wait! Child, why are you crying!?

Uncle Cid instinctively recalled the Genshin plot…

But sensing that childlike crying…

Let's not recall for now.

This uncle might end up occupying an extraordinary place in a certain little girl's heart.

Feeling the emptiness in her own heart because of someone else's kindness.

Combined with the Lawrence clan's situation of being despised by everyone.

Uncle Cid could already imagine a story of "wild vegetables" and "love."

Too bad I'm a straight male uncle who doesn't know how to handle this.

Cid reached out and patted little Eula's head. "There, there. Eat properly. You'll feel much better after eating. If tears get into the porridge later, it won't taste good."

Little Eula cried even harder, accompanied by sobbing sounds.

It should be normal—after all, only when there's someone to rely on does one become willing to express emotions.

After crying for quite a while, the sobbing gradually decreased. Only then did little Eula begin to drink the porridge.

With each spoonful going down, little Eula's crying became intermittent, and the sobbing grew quieter.

In the end, only occasional choked sounds remained, like the lingering raindrops after a storm, gently tapping against the silent world, announcing that this outburst of sadness was finally subsiding bit by bit.
