Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Uncle Can Occasionally Be Cool Too

In the end, Uncle Cid didn't have much talent for abducting children.

Little Eula was very hesitant, which was within Uncle Cid's expectations.

Children have attachment to their home, no matter how bad it is—it's still the family that raised them.

"I roughly understand your concerns. How about this: for this trip, if you ever want to stop, we can end it anytime."

"You can think of this journey as running away from home."

"You have to go out and see the world to understand what the glory of the Lawrence family truly is, right?"

Little Eula was still hesitant, and Cid felt there was no need to pressure her too much.

"Then forget it. How about this: if later you want to go out traveling, come find me in this cave."

"But don't let your family adults know about me taking you out traveling, or this uncle will probably be in trouble."

Strange—why does this sound more and more like a human trafficker?

But to be honest, I really don't want to meet the other people from the Lawrence family.

After all, talking to disabled people immersed in their own world is quite troublesome.

Wait—disabled people immersed in their own world?

Cid changed his mind.

He reached out and patted little Eula's head.

"Forget it. Don't hesitate anymore. Tell this uncle where your cousin is resting."

"This uncle will solve all the problems for you!"

Little Eula stared blankly at Cid.

Under the warm glow of the firelight, everything around was bathed in a soft, melting halo.

Uncle Cid sat in the center of that halo, the corners of his mouth curving upward into a confident smile.

That smile was like warm spring sunlight, instantly dispelling the surrounding chill.

His eyes were lit by the firelight, as if hiding a starry river within, shining brightly.

Even so, looking closely, there was still a trace of lingering youthful immaturity between his brows, like the faint pale blue on the horizon just before dawn breaks.

This immaturity blended wonderfully with maturity—not appearing abrupt at all, but instead giving him a unique charm.

"Mm, I understand." Little Eula's voice was very soft. Her fair cheeks quietly flushed with a light red in the warm tones of the firelight, feeling as though a missing piece in her heart had been filled.

Unfortunately, at this moment, the uncle's mind was only focused on solving the problem, and in the firelight, the girl's blush looked more like her face being roasted red by the flames.

The uncle only felt that since he had seen little Eula's vulnerable side, he must be quite important to her.

Thus, the uncle who was cool for no more than three seconds began the very next second to stick his butt out toward little Eula as he rummaged through his luggage.

Little Eula watched with great interest as the uncle searched for things.

The girl felt nothing about the uncle's impoliteness.

She even walked over. "Uncle, do you need help?"

For someone you like, tolerance is an instinctive reaction.

"That works," Cid said as several luggage bags appeared beside his hand. "Help me look.

When I left Liyue, little Hu Tao gave me a black set of clothes as a parting gift.

Since it looked quite expensive, this uncle hasn't worn it until now."

Little Eula began searching based on the keywords.

Black, quite expensive,

Little Hu Tao…?!

"Uncle, who is little Hu Tao?"

"Oh, oh, she's the kid who gave me the nickname 'Uncle.' If I remember right, that child is not even five yet?

But looking at those clothes, I thought they were really nice. Should I say that girls have aesthetic sense from a young age?"

Not even five.

That's a real little child. The middle-school-aged girl little Eula, who was at least fourteen, felt relieved and continued searching for the item.
