Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

There were several changes in his bodies and the obvious was the fact that he felt that he had become stronger. Even his mind carried a sense of clarity than before though it was not as exaggerated like when he had a breakthrough every time the pattern in his palm evolved.

That was a big clue and it appeared that there were several paths to getting stronger. The first one was the normal cultivation path which involved progress to the peak of cultivation. He had just discovered the second one and it appeared that it was somewhat an anomaly.

The fact the patterns had a different overall effect meant they were special. The fact they could also be used for cultivation just went further to emphasize their specialness.

Also, the fact the direct impact they had to him was not in cultivation but in his mental capacity meant that there was definitely something that put them above the cultivation path.

Lyren took his time and after he was sure that he had discovered everything, he focused on the patterns of the third row. He just sat there staring at them such that to an outside observer, it was almost like he was in a daze or a trance.

Lyren's dark gray eyes suddenly flickered with a white flash and his eyes had regained their clarity but there was also enlightenment in them. Yeah, he had finally found the secret to the third row but if he was to be realistic, maybe a week had passed since he progressed and started staring at the pattern.

This showed just how improved his mind had been to be able to focus for such a long time. And now he knew where the trick lay. It appeared that his mistake had turned out to be salvation for him.

He could not have discovered the secret anytime soon had he not tried to light the pattern without the palm pattern. The pattern that had started to erase itself had some parts that were removed and in these parts was where the secret lay.

It appeared that the third row was entirely different and it changed the logic he had accumulated all this time. He had just happened to find out that the pattern went deeper than it met the eye.

He was looking the pattern in a two-dimensional realm while it was created in a third dimension. That was a very huge clue. He looked at the pattern and saw that they had some depth. Almost around the size of his thumb and in that depth lay the secret.

It was the X patterns that filled this height. This made him feel like smacking his face. How long it had taken him to learn the secret. Having found the X patterns, it was only rightful that he would find the B patterns below the X patterns.

That was a big breakthrough in his perception but that was also a huge hurdle he was going to have to cross. After all, he was only able to see the X lines from the side and there was no way to confirm the existence of the B lines at the bottom of the X lines.

But the fact was that he this speculation had a 99% chance of it being true. This was not him being arrogant but that was exactly what this place had taught him. The X patterns were always connecting the A and B patterns.

The fact that he discovered that he had been viewing the patterns in the wrong dimension made him want to push the accuracy of his speculation to 100%. With this in mind, he realized that he had just travelled half the journey with that discovery. As for the other half, he did not know how he was going to get over it.

The half step that remained was him seeing the B lines and there was no way to see them. After all, it was impossible. It was like trying to look on top of a table and trying to see what lay under the table. It was just impossible.

It was impossible for him but it was very possible for the creators of these patterns. They had seen the patterns and were the ones who put them there. He could not help but wonder how they did it.

Had they created the B lines first and then the X lines and finished with the A lines? That was the logical explanation but that could not be it. That was his own thinking but his knowledge was too shallow to come to this conclusion and he handed it a 20% chance of being possible.

The remaining 80% was what he was missing and that was how he was going to get out of this pace. That was his key. Lyren did not bother thinking of any other possibility. Who knew whether the creator might have even started with the X lines?

It had taken him a long time to come to this conclusion and he could only hope that he did not take longer for him to break through. But his thoughts almost as if guided came to a standstill as he spoke aloud.

"How do you look at something you can't see?"

That was a question that was going to bug him for god knows how long. How did you even have thoughts of seeing something you could not see. Why even bother doing so? He chuckled as he lay on his back. Well, it was about time he took a break.

Even during the break, his thoughts did not stop and they kept going back to that question. Was it even possible to look at something you could not see? He let his consciousness drift away and his world darkened with his mind going blank. He was too tired…

Lyren opened his eyes and as his eyes gained clarity, the question that kept bugging him popped up again as though it had been pushed back up.

"How to look at something you can't see…" Lyren asked aloud scratching his head.

That was ridiculous. Slowly he sat up and went back to the pattern and he stared at it, no, he glared. Maybe that was how one looked at something they did not see.

Well, he saw nothing and he just ended up opening his eyes too wide that it felt as though he was trying to pop them out. This was frustrating.

'A drag.'

He wanted to beg the hall to give him a clue but he slapped his cheek leaving flushed finger marks on them. There was no mistaking that the hall was probably involved in his coming to the question that was bothering him. What more could he ask for?

He kept staring at the pattern but apart from the few X lines he could see from the sides of the broken B patterns, there was nothing else. Why was it that he felt that the answer was at his fingertips but every time he tried to hold it, it dissipated.

And it never left his fingertips. That was more frustrating. But this time, he decided to take it slow. How was it he was able to finally be able to see his core? He could not even feel it before and it was inside him all that while.

He even knew the exact location yet he had never been able to see it. The only time he had been able to see it was after his mind opened an eye that he did not know existed. Since then, he was able to look at things he could not see…

Then it all clicked! Like a lightning strike followed by thunder roaring and a curtain been torn into half opening. Introducing a new world that changed his perception forever from then on…
