Chapter 19 - Chaoter 19

The transition was not smooth. He was blinded by the bright light that surged from the other side of the curtain. It was like a rapture to his reality with the eye he had used to view his internal organs seemed to open and look into the real world for the first time.

He had closed his eyes and somehow, he could 'see'. Though, this sight was not as clear as the normal eyes. Everything seemed to pale and appear to be a black and white world. He could 'see' his hands but only the bones seemed to have some structure.

He could also see the channel that had been created by the pattern and it was thin. Almost too thin. As for the flesh that covered the bones, it was like a semi translucent paper. This was somehow scary but he was sure he had just opened himself to a completely different worldview.

And now back to the question. How to see something you could not see… Lyren looked at the pattern on the ground and he was met by a fascinating sight. He could actually tell that there was more to the A lines than he had given them credit.

Looking at them with this eye, it was completely different. Almost as thought it was always supposed to be looked at with this eye and not the normal eye. Just one glance and he could already see the several nodes on the A lines that obviously represented the X lines connection.

The fun part was that they were connected at the bottom of the A lines. Which meant that the B lines were all at the bottom of the A and X lines. With this vision, it was like he could go inside the patterns. He looked deeper and there, he saw them.

The X lines all converging and meeting with the B lines. The B lines continued to follow their rules and did not even meet. They were just as complex as the A lines and there was also something different he was noting.

Looking at the patterns with this eye showed him there was also a difference in the structure of both A and B lines. It was not just the fact that they did not meet that stood out. The A lines somehow gave the feeling that they were meant to draw energy from nature.

This was a huge leap in his knowledge and The B lines seemed to be specifically formed to use the energy from a person. This meant that during activation, Th B lines were activated first and then the X lines somehow activated the A lines.

This logic was confusing even to Lyren as he wondered why the receiver was at the bottom but not at the top. He recalled also the fact that during the second row, the B lines were the first in the row.

Also, the B pattern of the second row had sustained itself and the A patterns had been sending energy to the X lines which merged with the B lines before it activated fully. When he thought to this point, it was a no longer mere speculation and he had the time and resources to test out his theory which he did try activating the A lines first in the second row.

And it was just as he had expected. The pattern did not light up and he could also see the Elyria moving through the X lines headed to the B pattern that was connected to it. No matter how much he fed it, it did not light up and only the core that kept glowing.

When he had this thought, he realized that he was lucky. Had he not started with the B lines during his time on the second row, he might have forever been stuck on the second row. He went to the B pattern of the second row and he was surprised when the energy it took felt like a teaspoonful.

The pattern lit up golden quickly and the glow transferred to the A pattern instantly as it lit up too. Lyren smiled at this new discovery as he felt that he was getting closer to the core of the structure at lightning speed.

With the mind's eye, he was sure that everything was going to be easy and he confirmed it the next moment as he was studying the third row's first pattern. It took him less than five minutes to memorize the B lines and also the pattern seemed to have been imprinted into his mind.

There was no mistaking it again as he placed his hand on the core of the pattern with a new thought forming. The reason he needed to memorize the pattern was because he had to visualize it in his mind.

Now that he thought about it, it was such a drag to memorize each and every pattern in existence. This meant that it was a prerequisite to have an awakened mind's eye in order to operate the patterns.

This meant that everything was going to be easier from here onwards as he just had to used the eye and light up the pattern.

He let the pattern draw from him but he regretted the next second as his core was sucked dry by the pattern which just glowed slightly before it extinguished. Lyren chuckled. He had forgotten that he was his greatest obstacle.

As he went deeper into the patterns, it was only natural that their energy requirements kept increasing. With his current cultivation level, all he could do was make the pattern glow. He should have been discouraged but he was not.

Instead, he was probably the happiest because the was no backlash or rejection. Even the pattern in his palm seemed to have a perfect sync with him. He looked at it with the eye and what he saw made his eye strain which it had not done since he had awakened it.

The pattern seemed that it was not normal. It seemed to evolve with his understanding and that was all it could let him see. If he tried to dig deep into the secrets he was not yet ready for, who knew what kind of backlash that would leave him and his precious new eye?

He realized that he was still a noob. He had to improve his mind so that it could also accommodate what he was seeing. The straining of the eye meant that whatever it was seeing was far above his level.

He could feel his mind was getting slow and this only happened when whatever he was looking at was above him or when his mental energy had been overused. He sighed and closed the eye opening the normal eyes.

He looked around and it was as though the world had just gained color. Lyren still had a lot of reflection to do and suddenly a thought that had crossed his mind once suddenly came back… as though it was brought back.

Since he had discovered that the B lines were created for his energy and the A lines for nature energy, was it possible to light up the patterns using nature energy? This thought made his heart throb and even the palm pattern seemed to acknowledge this trail of thought as it released a glow.

But the next second, he was chuckling. Even if it was possible, it was impossible for him. He who could barely draw Elyria to himself wanted to draw it directly into the patterns from nature. This ought to have been a joke and he could feel the ancient dry amusement coming from the hall, not from his mind but from the pressure shift in the air.

Well, it was just a matter of time before he was able to light the patterns starting with the A lines. These were his final thought as he fell into meditation and in the next second he fell sideways falling asleep.

There was no mistaking the smile of victory plastered on his lips after a long time of uncertainty.
