The logic was sound and undeniable, and Veyra knew it. Her jaw tightened visibly.

"I'll talk to the Alpha about your request."

"You do that." Liora dismissed her with a casual wave, as if Veyra were a servant rather than her jailer. "And bring me a laptop with internet access. I need to start building a comprehensive timeline."

Veyra left without another word, clearly uncertain how to deal with this new version of her prisoner.

Liora returned to her photographs, her mind already working through the puzzle with methodical precision. The sleep deprivation and torture had done something unexpected, burned away all her softness, all her fear, all her learned helplessness and desperation for approval. What remained was pure, cold, focused determination and a rage so intense it burned like ice.

She would find the truth, no matter what it cost.

She would identify the killer, no matter how well hidden.

And she would make every single person who'd hurt her regret their actions.
