Noah's trip to school was an uneventful one....well, as uneventful as being a vampire in a crowd could be.
Though he didn't feel hungry or look at the people like a bunch walking blood bags, instead, his thoughts were focused on what might've happened in that park.
Since he became aware of the existence of the supernatural, he was completely sure of quite a few things, that news was definitely not the doing of a wild animal, the world was a lot more dangerous than he thought and finally....he was being watched.
It started the moment he stepped out of the house, but he first dismissed it as his newly acquired super senses acting up.
But it was still stuck on him even when he was in the bus. He tried looking around, but all he saw was people going about their day as normal.
"Maybe I'm imagining things?" He muttered before ignoring the feeling and leaning on the glass of the bus, watching the city go by.
Noah soon reached his school, The Gymnázium Nad Štolou.
It was a relatively prestigious school, the kind that prided themselves in their history and discipline.
The tall, iron gates were intimidating as ever, but the students didn't pay it mind, after all, they had long gotten used to it.
Noah stepped off the bus and adjusted his bag on his shoulder, joining the flow of students heading inside.
The moment he stepped into the school, the feeling of being watched intensified, he turned around again, expecting to see nothing, but this time, there was someone there.
Standing among the crowd of moving students was someone holding an umbrella.
It was a strange sight, since it was neither raining, nor was the sun too high just yet, but everyone passing by the person seemed to completely ignore their presence or they weren't aware of it in the first place.
Time seemed to slow down as the person slowly lifted the umbrella, and the first thing Noah noticed were his fangs.
'A vampire,' Noah thought to himself as the person's lips curved into a smile before they lifted the umbrella, revealing a pair of red glowing eyes.
The person with the umbrella was a man who seemed to be in his late fifties, with a bit of wrinkles here and there on his face.
He seemed like a kind uncle, but the aura coming from him was anything but kind.
Noah could feel the pressure and it felt like an ocean trying to drown him, but instead of fear or submission as most other vampire fledglings would show in front of someone with this much power,
Noah bared his fangs, causing the man's interest in him to rise and his smile to get wider.
"Calm down kid," the man said, and even though he was a small distance away, Noah could clearly hear his words, "fighting a youngling wouldn't look good on me."
"Who are you?" Noah asked, his guard still up as he could feel that this man was dangerous."
"You may call me Viktor," the man replied, "someone interested in a day walking youngling like you."
Noah frowned at his words, of course he had read about vampires being unable to walk in sunlight, but he just dismissed it as a myth since he and Antoinette could walk under the sun with only the slightest bit of discomfort.
Now he knew it wasn't.
But whether or not it was a myth wasn't important right now, because he had a nagging question.
"Are you responsible for the incident at the Stromovka park?" He didn't know why, but Noah had a nagging feeling that this man, Victor was, "because if you a—"
Viktor raised a finger, interrupting his words.
"Ah, ah. Accusations already? How rude." He straightened, his smile getting wider as he placed one hand in the pocket of his black pants, "but let's just say, I gave made them part of something greater, the hunger is just a small price to pay.... wouldn't you say?"
"So it was you," Noah said with a frown
Viktor didn't deny it.
Instead, he shrugged. "They should feel honored. Very few get to be part of something greater." His eyes turned toward the school building. "Speaking of which, you're late."
A bell rang loudly across the school's campus, causing Noah to turn for just a second, when he turned back, the man was gone, completely.
Movement around him return and so did the sound that had disappeared.
The feeling of being watched had also disappeared.
Noah looked at where the man had been previously standing for a short while before sighing and walking towards the school's building.
"Noah!"
A familiar voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
Ethan jogged up beside him, backpack slung lazily over one shoulder, his hair still slightly damp like he'd rushed out of the house.
"You good, man?" Ethan asked. "You look like you saw a ghost."
Noah hesitated for half a second before forcing a small smile. "Didn't sleep well. That news this morning was… unsettling."
"Yeah," Ethan grimaced. "My mom nearly banned me from going out at night. Again."
He lowered his voice. "You think it was really an animal?"
Noah thought of the man, from what he understood from their conversation, he was going around turning humans to out of control vampires who were responsible for the death last night.
So no, he knew it wasn't a wild animal, but was he going to tell his friend that?
"That's what the officials say," Noah muttered, "isn't it?"
He had decided to keep his friend out of the supernatural world, for his own safety.
Ethan looked at Noah strangely before nodding and letting go of the topic.
"Ah that's right," He muttered, changing the topic, "Raine will be joining us for lunch."
Noah looked at him, a bit surprised at the mention of the name as he asked, "she's back?"
"Yup," Ethan nodded, "she returned last night and wanted to surprise you."
"Should you be telling me this, if it was meant to be a surprise?" Noah asked with a raised brow.
"....." Ethan froze before awkwardly chuckling, "pretend I didn't say anything."
Noah just chuckled and shook his head they walked into the building.
They reached their classroom, the door already open as students filtered inside. Noah took his seat by the window, placing his bag down slowly.
He looked out the window and sighed, his life was getting complicated.
