Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: My Teammates Fell and I Ran Away

Sure enough, the other side didn't seem to hear them at all and ran straight to the West Building vault.

However, this was also normal, as in the current Delta, very few people would return to the building after leaving the Admin Building and completing a major mission.

In the Admin Building, whether it was on the Earth where Blake once lived or on this Earth, a three-person team would generally not encounter anyone in the building after about 10 minutes, because by that time most people would have finished looting and left.

Of course, on Blake's Earth, Delta Force also had a weekly limited-time solo Classified Dam, and the solo Dam didn't have this rule — it wasn't uncommon for people to still be camping in the last five minutes.

As the saying goes, no one will always wait for you — but D-Wolf will.

Coincidentally, Jake in this round was D-Wolf.

Although he wasn't waiting from the start of the game until now, whether it was waiting for twenty minutes or two minutes, it was still waiting.

"This team should be looting. They just came down from upstairs," Marcus whispered. "From the footsteps, they're in the West Building Stinger room."

Jake stroked his chin, pondering. "We can see if they pull the lever."

"If they pull the lever, we can go directly to the elevator and wait."

"When I came out just now, I glanced and saw a ventilation duct inside the Dam, which was blown open by the Wall Breaker, and that duct connects directly to the elevator extraction point."

"We can camp there."

"If they don't pull the lever, given their looting style, they'll probably pass through this doorway we're holding."

"At that time, if we instantly kill one, it's 2v2. If we instantly kill two, it's 2v1. The feasibility is very high."

"But from their previous scavenging in the East Building, they should have spawned near the East Building, which means their extraction point is at the bottom left of the cement factory."

"We are in the first position in the West Building, and our extraction point is at the Visitor Center."

"If they choose to go all the way around... then it will be difficult to camp."

Speaking of this, Jake glanced at the remaining game time:

"There are still nine minutes left. We can camp for five minutes and leave four minutes for a regular extraction."

Marcus nodded slightly, adding, "It depends on their specific movements."

"If they go back upstairs, they're probably preparing to go around, but in that case, we can also follow them quietly, and the success rate of a backstab is not small."

Jake hummed in agreement.

The reason they didn't go directly to block the regular extraction at the cement factory was that they couldn't be sure whether this team would pull the lever or not. What if they ran over there and the other team pulled the lever?

"Thump thump thump."

Footsteps sounded again — they must have finished consuming some remaining low-value blues and stim shots from Maverick and IronTreads.

"Here they come," Jake instantly sat up straight. "It seems they're planning not to pull the lever and go for a regular extraction at the cement factory."

"See who peeks first. Instant kill them if they do."

The footsteps grew closer and closer.

"Whoosh—!"

The sound of Vyron's jet echoed, indicating he was preparing to speed up his journey.

Evidently, he hadn't expected two people to be holding the doorway outside. Whether his travel speed increased or not is unknown, but his speed to the afterlife certainly did.

The sound of two K437s rang out simultaneously, instantly riddling Vyron with bullets.

The only regrettable thing was that they only ambushed a Vyron. If this Vyron hadn't been there, the opponents would most likely have gone out two at a time, one in front and one behind, which would have allowed them to instantly kill two.

But now, this Vyron meant they could only get a first-strike kill on one.

However... "2v2 — the advantage is mine!" Jake switched to his hand cannon and fired three shots into the room while peeking. "I saw him. There's a Stinger prone by the cabinet next to the stairs."

"Marcus, give me a Stun Launcher to suppress the position, and I'll instant kill him!"

Without a moment's hesitation, Marcus switched to his Stun Launcher and fired a shot at the position Jake marked — a testament to their trust.

The Stinger was now in an awkward situation: run or not run?

If he didn't run, this Stun Launcher would surely knock him down.

If he ran, he couldn't be sure if the opponents would suddenly pop out and shoot him.

But after rapid thought, the Stinger still chose to run, because he had smoke, and the opponent might not be able to gun him down.

At the same moment he heard footsteps — "Exoskeleton activated!"

"Sizzle—"

Just as the smoke grenade released smoke, the Stinger saw a D-Wolf slide in.

(Slide kick, jump.jpg)

"Dededede..."

The crisp gunshots of the K437 rang out again. Because Jake used a slide-kick jump plus the opponent's straightforward movement, this burst of bullets accurately landed headshots.

The moment the Stinger fell, the third person, who had been hiding and not peeking, seized the opportunity to peek and start shooting.

Gunshots rang out, and based on the extremely fast rate of fire, it was most likely an MP5 submachine gun with a 50-round drum magazine.

The MP5 was still very authoritative in close-quarters combat. Jake and the Stinger fell almost simultaneously.

"Over by the right glass frame," Jake said calmly, without panicking, pointing out the opponent's position. "It's a D-Wolf."

Marcus subconsciously held his breath. In a 1v1 situation, the risk of D-Wolf peeking was much greater than Vyron, because D-Wolf's slide performance was not as good as Vyron's jet.

The Stinger and Vyron on the opposing team weren't very skilled, but this D-Wolf was quite good.

He threw a C4 inside, and at extreme range, the C4 could land not far from the glass frame.

A C4 at this distance certainly wouldn't deal full damage, but all Marcus needed to do was lower the opponent's health or force him out of position.

"Bang!"

A hit marker appeared — the opponent chose to take the damage and not expose too much of his body.

An extreme C4 at this distance only dealt a dozen points of damage, but luckily he had another one, which combined could take out a quarter of their health.

"Bang!"

Using the smoke and sound of the C4 explosion, Marcus charged straight in — with the explosion smoke obscuring, the opponent couldn't precisely pinpoint his position.

"Whoosh—!"

Even though D-Wolf adjusted his aim the moment the jet sound rang out, Marcus's gun was faster!

[Operator · CantThinkOfAName (Vyron) has been knocked down]

[Operator · MilkDragonKing (Stinger) has been knocked down]

[Operator · Vinny (D-Wolf) has been knocked down]

"Vinny?" Marcus was stunned. "Is it the real Vinny or a fake Vinny?"

However, he didn't dwell on it — after all, Jake was still lying on the ground.

Meanwhile, on Vinny's side.

"Ah, damn it!" He slammed his desk. Desk HP -1. "I was one second away from the smoke being ready!"

"With smoke, I could have engaged in another round of mind games!"

Vinny, a bit dejected, started the next match again.

He usually plays solo in three-player queues. In the last game, he wanted to try what it felt like to have teammates, so he chose to fill the team.

As for the experience... his teammates weren't exactly human-like.

To summarize simply:

"Teammates get kills, I take loot. Teammates need meds, I don't share."

"Teammates get downed, I book it. Teammates try talking, I hit mute."

Just as Vinny, Jake, and Marcus finished their battles, Blake finally finished his meal.

"Players nowadays only know how to hold angles, use cover, and force positions, huh..." He stroked his chin. "And their gun skills are improving quickly — not as slow as I imagined."

In Blake's opinion, Marcus and Jake's current gun skills were at a Classified Dam 2.0 K/D level, but their positioning and awareness were very strong.

And Vinny's gun skills were a bit higher than theirs — at a Classified Dam 3.0 K/D level — but his awareness was not as good as Marcus and Jake.

However, the current Vinny certainly hadn't reached his previous life's level. For now, the Vinny on Blake's Earth was much fiercer than the one in this world.
