Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Babysitting I

[3rd POV]

Pulling into the Dunphy house's driveway, Billie parked her car with a sigh as she climbed out. But not before she reached in and grabbed the three boxes she had bought on her way.

Said boxes were pizza.

She thought that they could have something actually fun for dinner, so pizza it was. And she had also asked Haley about what they even like to do, and was promptly told that the safest bet was probably going to be movies.

If she did board games or something like that, then there was almost certainly going to be an argument.

Walking up to the door, Billie rung the doorbell as she silently stood there, waiting for the door to be opened.

It didn't take long for it to get opened, as Haley was on the other side, a smile on her face. Said smile had grown quite a bit when she saw the domino's boxes in her hands, and the breadsticks as well.

"Oooh, thanks babe! Did you get my favorite?" Haley asked, as Billie walked in with the door shutting behind her.

"Mmhmm, pineapple pizza, just as you like it, even if it is a crime against humanity, or at least the Italians" Billie responded, being a very deep pineapple on pizza hater. While Haley loved pineapple on her pizza.

"Hey, it's good! And you don't see me talking about you liking mushrooms" Haley said with a pout on her face, as they began to enter the kitchen, placing the pizza boxes onto the counter.

"Yeah, that's because mushrooms are normal on pizza. Pineapple is just weird" The voice of Alex echoed, as she walked forwards.

"Oh, and thank you for the pizza, Billie" Alex added with a small smile, as she grabbed a slice. She preferred the more simplistic style, so she had grabbed a pepperoni slice, while Luke bounded over and grabbed a cheese pizza slice.

"Thanks Billie! You get awesomer and awesomer every day!" Luke said with a bright grin on his face, as Alex deadpanned.

""Awesomer" is not a word, idiot" Alex rolled her eyes, as Luke glared and was prepared to start an argument, but Billie saw that from a mile away and cut in.

"Hooow about we watch a movie? I've been told that neither of you have ever watched a Marvel movie? You wanna change that?" Billie asked, as the two glanced at one another.

"This movie is wildly inaccurate. An arc reactor couldn't possibly be made that small, not with the technology they'd possess. Not to mention that it is simply impossible, the heat alone would melt any material that they could use, and would probably kill him" Alex said, watching the movie with an appraising eye.

"It's a movie about a guy that flies around in a suit and is called "Iron Man" I wouldn't say it was supposed to be accurate in the first place" Haley responded with a snort, finding the movie to be pretty good so far.

"Beyond that, the laws of physics are different over there, Alex. At least that's what I'd assume, and perhaps they are simply more advanced so they found the method to counter that issue. Afterall, in the comics Tony Stark has created objects and weapons that can destroy worlds, all through science" Billie added, as the girl looked at her.

"Destroyed the world? What could possibly have the power to do that?"

"Well there's a lot of things, Alex. I know that he at one point used a suit that was powered by an artificial star, if that is anything. He's also created suits from the metal of the Gods of Asgard, and out of a material that is practically unbreakable. A metal called "Vibranium". You learn more about it in the other three movies they've made so far. Iron Man 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Thor" Billie responded, remembering that this world was behind in Marvel and other media.

They haven't hit the peak of the MCU just yet. She imagined Alex would be much more interested once Avengers and some of the later stuff began to start up.

"Man, you can even make a movie about a superhero about something boring like science!" Luke complained, watching the movie as Tony blew up a tank possessed by one of the terrorist groups.

One of his most badass moments.

"Well pardon me if I just wished the story was a bit more realistic" Alex responded with a grumble as Billie chuckled.

"I'll find something a bit more realistic for you to watch in the future. But for now you're just gonna have to deal with the inaccuracy" Billie said, amused with the girl as she huffed and continued to watch the movie.

"You know, I didn't realize that you were such a big fan of comic movies" Haley said after a few more minutes of watching the movie, realizing that Billie had never really spoken on that before.

"I wouldn't say I'm a big fan, but I do enjoy it. It's dumb fun that's a pretty good way of wasting some time. That and gaming, personally I game more than anything as a hobby, but comics is probably in second place" Billie responded.

"But what about singing? Isn't that a hobby?" Luke asked with a tilt of his head.

"Not really. It's more like a job for me at this point. But it is a job that I deeply adore and would never give up unless I literally had to. Whereas I don't make anything off of gaming or comics, and just do it for fun" Billie shook her head.

If music was just a hobby for Billie, she wouldn't be making millions of dollars a month from it. And she wouldn't be spending most of her hours a day working towards future albums, spreading her music further, and all sorts of other things that made her more and more popular.

And Haley of course.

"Kind of like how Grandpa Jay works with closets, and it was kind of a hobby at first, before it became a proper job that he enjoys" Haley added, as Luke nodded slowly.

"Oh okay, that makes sense. Does that mean if I really really enjoy shooting someone with a BB gun I can get a job involving that?" Luke asked as the three girls in the room blinked several times.

"Yeah...no" Haley said bluntly.

"Absolutely not" Alex added.

"No offense kid, but you are like the last person I'd let have anything that is shaped like a gun. Instead maybe do something a bit less...you know, dangerous" Billie said, even the idea of the kid having a gun or BB gun or whatever, made her very...well, not comfortable.

He wasn't exactly the most trustworthy.

Luke frowned at their words before grumbling and thinking of something that he could do that he could enjoy. But honestly he was drawing a blank.

"Gaming could work, if you get good enough at it" Billie suggested, as Luke looked at her.

"Gaming? What sort of game? I'm pretty good at Halo, I beat dad all the time. Same with CoD" Luke said, perking up at the idea.

"I'd suggest trying League of Legends or World of Warcraft. You can actually make some money off WOW if you do it right" Billie said after hearing his question. She would have said CSGO, but it wasn't out until 2012.

She wondered if this suggestion was going to be a huge mistake or not, considering the rather...interesting communities built around the two games. But she decided it would be fine...

Probably.

With that, the group began to watch the movie again, and as they did, Billie leaned back, one thought on her mind.

'...This is not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be'
