Chapter 17 - The True Power Of The System (1)

The moment he woke up, his mother was already absent from his bed.

He was suddenly gripped with a sudden feeling of sadness, and yet, before he could dwell on it any further, he suddenly found a note on his bedside table.

Hm? A note? Did she leave a note for me? Feeling curious, he quickly took it from its place of rest before opening it with care and reading the words written inside; before long, a smile quickly formed on his face.

Guess my beloved mother still cares about me... The words written on the note were quite simple.

It simply stated that she would leave the bed first to make sure that nobody knew the kind of relationship that they had for now, and that she loved him and would miss him dearly, before ending the note by saying that she would see him again tonight.

Aigh! I definitely love this woman to death!

With a happy smile on his face, he quickly stood up on his bed before doing a bit of morning stretches.

He then sat cross-legged on a couch inside of his room as he started to think about what to do.

I should probably work towards completing my previous tasks, which are stabilizing my foundation and learning more about this world.

For my first task, I could just do that right now; no one is gonna be bothering me inside of my room anyways.

As for my second task, I should probably start exploring what the Azure Dragon Sect has to offer.

They probably have some sort of library filled with all sorts of information and cultivation techniques.

As for my goal about improving my mother's talent… that will have to be shelved for now since I have no idea how to do that.

Now that his thoughts were clear, he quickly went to work.

He found a cultivation mat inside of his spatial ring and placed it inside of his room before quickly sitting cross-legged and closing his eyes.

However, after just a few minutes of sensing the changes inside of his body and trying to stabilize his condition, he quickly realized something strange.

My foundation doesn't seem to need to stabilize. Do I not need it?

Hearing the questioning tone of his voice, his trusty system gave him an answer.

[Responding to host: The host does not need to stabilize his cultivation base from the Elementary Profound Realm to the Nascent Profound Realm as a result of his heavenly physique.]

Hearing the words from his system made his jaw drop in shock as he quickly realized the implications of this information.

Doesn't this mean that if I have enough pills, I can basically go straight from the Elementary Profound Realm to the peak of the Nascent Profound Realm?!

[Affirmative, Host.]

His body suddenly shivered as a feeling of excitement went through his body; clearly, this was a massive advantage for someone like him who was already behind on his cultivation in comparison to his peers.

However, after thinking for a few seconds, his expression suddenly shifted from that of joy to one of depression as he quickly thought of something.

Even if I know this information, where the hell am I supposed to get that massive amount of pills in the first place? Am I gonna have to steal from the sect?

As if sensing the look of dejection from its host, the system once again said a few words that completely broke his knowledge of common sense.

[The Scum System can allow the host to use his "Scum Points" to purchase items helpful for cultivation from the shop. Would the host like to open it?]

Scum Points? A System Shop? What the hell? Is this legit?

As if offended by the look of doubt its owner had, the system quickly showed a transparent screen right in front of him that had a few words in bold, clearly stating:

"Scum System Item Shop."

The so-called "Scum System Item Shop" was, literally, as he had expected; it was an items shop with clear ways for him to purchase items that could help him improve his cultivation, classified by type:

[Spiritual Pills]

[Cultivation Techniques]

[External Objects]

[Unique Scum Items]

Seeing this properly arranged classification once again made his jaw drop as his mind started to run wild with the possibilities of having this kind of thing inside of his body.

This is so fucking awesome! With this system shop, I can quickly improve my cultivation and catch up with those so-called heaven's chosen from all those webnovels I've read!

I can definitely do it! I can reach the top with this!

After reaching this point in his train of thoughts, he suddenly had a question in his mind as he asked the system,

"Wait, system, if I had this kind of shop from the beginning, wouldn't the wheel of fortune be useless? I can just buy the things in the wheel in the shop, right?"

The system remained quiet for a few moments, as if it was stunned at its master's stupidity, before replying once more in that cold and emotionless voice.

[Responding to host: The wheel of fortune can only be used when a primary quest is completed, and the items within are completely unique, one-of-a-kind treasures of heaven and earth. Once one is received by the host, that item disappears forever.]

Hearing these words from the system, he suddenly shivered as he quickly realized how lucky he was that he completed that primary quest as soon as possible.

Who knows if those primary quests have a time limit?

Thankfully, I didn't discover this shop before I completed that quest.

If I did, I probably would just have bought something from here instead of completing the quest, and I would miss my chance to spin the wheel of fortune and receive my heavenly physique.

After thinking for a few more moments, he suddenly asked the system another question.

"All right, system, how do I buy items from the shop?"
