As Naruto and Kakashi walked onto the training ground, the sunlight caught the two bells in the Jonin's hand, casting a dazzling, metallic glint across the field. Naruto stood between Sasuke and Sakura, the three of them fanned out in a perfect combat formation.

"The rules have been stated," Kakashi said, his lazy gaze sharpening into a blade. "You will never get these bells without the resolve to kill me." He shook the bells, their clear ringing sounding like a death knell in the silence.

"Additionally." Kakashi conjured two bento boxes as if by magic. "I've only prepared two lunches. Those who get a bell can eat. Those who don't… prepare to return to the Academy for remedial training."

Sakura's face turned paper-pale. She hadn't eaten dinner because of her diet, and she'd skipped breakfast in her haste. Facing a Jonin on an empty stomach felt like a nightmare. She looked at Naruto's calm focus and Sasuke's cold combat stance. Am I really the only one who's going to fail? Her nose stung, but she bit her lip. No... I have to try. I can't just surrender!

"The deadline is noon," Kakashi announced. "Now, the battle begins!"

Kakashi knew this test was about teamwork, so he immediately moved to pressure Naruto, preventing him from coordinating the group. He lunged with a kunai, but Naruto didn't flinch. He raised a palm, and the air around it began to scream.

"Vacuum Attack: Wind Pressure Siphon!"

Naruto called out the move, but instead of pulling Kakashi in, he inverted the flow. A violent blast of transparent wind erupted, a solid wall of pressure that slammed into Kakashi. The Jonin's pupils constricted as he was blasted back twenty meters, his sandals carving deep grooves into the soil.

Wind Release? Kakashi thought, patting grass clippings off his vest. And no hand signs? That control is monstrous.

Naruto didn't give him a second to breathe. He closed the distance, his hands wrapped in a shimmering film of rotating water.

"Vacuum Attack: Water Dragon Prison!"

Naruto struck, but poof—Kakashi replaced himself with a log. The wood was instantly encased in a swirling sphere of pressurized water. Naruto didn't miss a beat; he slammed his palm onto the earth. Earth Release chakra surged through the ground, and several jagged spikes erupted exactly where Kakashi was attempting to emerge from the soil.

Kakashi was forced to abort his Headhunter Jutsu, flipping backward through the air to land safely. He anticipated my move? This kid is far more troublesome than the Sandaime's report suggested.

"Fire Release: Phoenix Flower Claw Red!" Sasuke seized the opening. Nine clusters of scorching flame, hiding shuriken within their cores, traced a deadly, blooming trajectory toward Kakashi.

B-rank Ninjutsu from a graduate? Kakashi slammed his hands down. "Earth Release: Earth-Style Wall!" A stone rampart carved with pug-dog heads rose to meet the flames.

"Divine Sky Strike: Raging Thunder!"

Before the dust from Sasuke's explosion could settle, Naruto's hand, wreathed in crackling, blinding electricity, punched straight through the stone wall. The rampart shattered as Naruto lunged for Kakashi's face. Kakashi leaned back, the lightning grazing his mask and leaving a numbing trail across his skin.

Lightning too?! Sandaime, you've put me in a real spot! Kakashi thought frantically. The intel was a lie—this kid has mastered nature transformation!

Just as Kakashi was distracted by the two powerhouses, Sakura made her move. She had quietly circled to his blind spot. Her eyes were unusually firm as she precisely slapped an Explosive Tag onto Kakashi's back.

The battle-hardened Jonin sensed the danger and made a snap decision. He sidestepped Naruto's lightning-clad fist and ripped off his own tactical vest, hurling it away just as the tag detonated.

BOOM!

The shockwave sent dirt and shredded fabric raining down. Kakashi rubbed his ringing ears, looking at the crater. I told them to have the resolve to kill, but they're actually trying to do it!

Sakura tossed her pink hair, a hint of pride on her face. She wasn't the delicate girl from the start of the Academy; years of training alongside Naruto and Sasuke had forged her into a tactician.

"Don't space out during battle, Kakashi-sensei." Naruto appeared behind him again, wielding an ordinary tree branch as if it were a legendary sword. Kakashi grabbed the branch to disarm him, but Naruto channeled fire chakra through the wood, forcing the Jonin to let go as his glove began to char.

"Tsk." Kakashi shook his burned hand and discarded the ruined glove. His vest was gone, and his hand was scorched.

Naruto twirled the branch in a graceful flourish, extinguishing the embers. "Is that all, sensei? The bells are still hanging quite loosely."Chapter 54: Snatching the Bells
