The successful extraction of Genin-level Chakra brought a joy that warmed Sayo and Sharyu like a scorching desert heatwave. But for a shinobi, internal change is only half the battle. The true test—the moment of objective reality—lay in whether that shimmering blue aura could be transmuted into a tangible "Jutsu."

On a rare day off, the sandstorm subsided into a gentle breeze. The father and son returned to the courtyard that had once seen Sayo stuck like a "human radish." The ground was still dry and unforgiving, but in Sayo's eyes, the battlefield had changed.

"Are you ready?" Sharyu asked, his voice thick with a mixture of nervousness and desperate hope.

Sayo nodded. He closed his eyes, sensing the newborn stream of Chakra. It was no longer a ghost he had to chase; it was a tool he could grip. His hands blurred into the seals—Ram → Snake → Tiger. Thousands of mental simulations now translated into fluid, textbook-perfect physical motion.

Simultaneously, he mobilized the energy, circulating it through his newly mended meridians and slamming it into his feet.

"Earth Release: Headhunter Jutsu!"

The Submerged World

A wave of Chakra, significantly more stable than his previous attempt, surged underground. The earth responded instantly. There was no hitch, no stalled engine. Sayo felt the soil soften into a welcoming embrace.

Knees, waist, chest—he sank smoothly. He could feel the Chakra forming a pressurized bubble around him, resisting the weight of the sand and maintaining the integrity of the Jutsu formula. He didn't just sink; he navigated. In the blink of an eye, he was gone, leaving the surface flat and undisturbed.

Sharyu held his breath, his eyes scouring the dirt.

A few meters away, the ground arched. A small hand burst through the surface, followed by Sayo's head. He was covered in grit, his hair a mess of sand and mud, but his black eyes shone with a manic, ecstatic brilliance. He hadn't just submerged; he had moved underground and emerged under his own power.

"Father! I succeeded!" Sayo's voice was hoarse, raw with the realization of his own agency.

A Father's Release

Sharyu dashed forward, grabbing Sayo's shoulders with a grip that made the boy wince. He scrutinized his son's dirt-streaked face, feeling the genuine, lingering Chakra fluctuation radiating from him.

The tough shinobi, who had survived the horrors of the Second Great Ninja War and the loss of his wife, felt his composure shatter. His lips trembled, but no words came out. Only his shaking hands betrayed the storm within.

For nine years, Sharyu had carried a crushing weight of guilt. He had watched his son struggle against a defective body, terrified that he had failed his wife's dying wish. He had traded a prestigious combat career for the shadows of logistics just to keep this "frail spark" alive.

And now, watching Sayo release a Jutsu—even a basic D-rank—it meant the chains of fate had been broken.

"Good... good boy!" Sharyu's voice choked. He pulled Sayo into a fierce hug, his rough hands patting the boy's back. Hot tears fell from the veteran's eyes, disappearing into the mud on Sayo's shoulder.

Sayo hugged his father back, feeling the intense relief and pride vibrating through Sharyu's chest. He understood then that this victory wasn't just his; it was the end of his father's long, silent suffering.

In that sunlit courtyard, the tears of the father and son washed away nine years of gloom. Sharyu looked up at the clear blue sky, as if whispering to the spirit of his wife:

Haruko, look at him.He did it.I did not fail you.
