The days Sayo spent under Elder Chiyo's tutelage felt like a continuous unlocking of forbidden palaces. He was no longer just learning theory; he was observing the bleeding edge of puppet science. Among these experiences, none captivated his analytical mind more than the work of the young master, Sasori.

As Sayo prepared to leave the courtyard one afternoon, his breath caught. In the center of the workshop stood a behemoth—a half-completed framework that exuded a predatory aura. It was modeled after a Giant Desert Salamander, with a broad, armored cranium and a tail designed for bone-crushing impact.

Sasori was standing inside the chest cavity, manipulating dozens of tools via Chakra Threads with the grace of a conductor. Sayo watched, mesmerized by the Power Transmission system—the way the colossal gears were notched to handle the torque of rapid movement, and the specialized sliding tracks at the base designed to "float" over the shifting desert dunes.

The Spark of a Concept

An idea, as sudden and sharp as a kunai, pierced Sayo's mind.

Large Puppets... why must they only be weapons?

He thought of his own persistent limits. Despite the "Body Tempering Furnace," his frame was still small, his natural top speed was average, and his stamina in long-distance sprints was a tactical liability. In the high-stakes world of shinobi, a single lost second during a retreat was a death sentence.

What if... I didn't have to run?

A blueprint began to assemble itself in his mind's eye. A puppet not for slaughter, but for carriage. It would be a "Vehicle Puppet." Eight legs for absolute stability across any terrain, a low-slung chassis for stealth, and a semi-enclosed cockpit where the operator could sit securely, protected from sand and shrapnel, while concentrating entirely on reconnaissance or long-range jutsu.

The Exchange

"Have you seen enough?"

The cold, monotone voice snapped Sayo out of his trance. Sasori was looking at him, his purple eyes devoid of warmth but lacking the usual irritation.

Sayo didn't flinch. He pointed directly to the Salamander's leg actuators. "Senior Sasori, for a frame of this mass, how do you maintain the stability of the power core during high-impact locomotion? And the suspension—how does it adapt to varying sand densities without sacrificing joint integrity?"

Sasori raised an eyebrow. These were not the questions of a child, but of a peer struggling with the same laws of physics. "Are you planning to make a big toy?"

"No," Sayo replied, his gaze unwavering. "I want to build a mobility aid. A puppet that can carry me. My stamina is a weakness; I need a tool as reliable as your Salamander to bridge the gap."

"A pack animal?" Sasori let out a faint, almost mocking huff. "An interesting misuse of a killing machine."

Yet, he didn't turn Sayo away. Instead, he reached into a pile of discarded drafts and tossed a heavy scroll toward Sayo. "Take it. These are failed designs for the Salamander's suspension and notes on core stabilization. They were too 'inefficient' for me. Perhaps they are enough for your... carriage."

The Great Spider

Sayo practically flew back to his cabin. He unrolled the scroll, devouring the "failures." To Sasori, a 15% energy loss was a disgrace; to Sayo, it was a manageable variable that he could optimize with his knowledge of Modern Mechanical Engineering.

He began to sketch, merging the Salamander's heavy-duty suspension with his own "Spider" gait logic.

The Power System: He scaled down the large core concept to fit his "Puppet Core Mark I," focusing on sustained torque rather than explosive speed.

The Chassis: He designed a central "seat" that distributed the operator's weight evenly across the eight legs.

The Joint-Ratio: He calculated the optimal strength-to-weight ratio to ensure the puppet remained light enough to be carried on his back when not in use, yet strong enough to carry him across the desert.

As the moon rose over Suna, the blueprint for the "Great Spider" was finalized. It was more than a puppet; it was a mobile fortress, a way to move through the world on his own terms.

Sayo looked at the ink-stained paper. He had found his mount. Now, he just needed to build the legs that would carry him to the future.
