"Hey Nathan wait up" I called onto him chasing him down the street as my heart raced. I hated. Running but Nathan always had me doing it just for fun , just to tease me. I paused bending as my hands rested on my knees , trying to catch my breath . How can a 11 Yr old boy be so fast .
"what's wrong slow poke ? Given up already"
He called on not so far from me
"Last one back at the house is a dummy"
He then ran past me giggling as I follow him take the lead .
My insides wey on fire , gasping for air, sweating like a pig, breathing as if I was asthmatic and these are the reasons wwhh I hate running , it's disgusting!
The sun was fading slowly into the mountains that day.
I threw myself onto Nathan's front porch , he then handed me a bottle of water. I took it from his grasp as I drank hastily as if I had never drank water before.
"This is the last time you trick me into running with you " I grumbled.
"Nope, it will happen again you dummy" He laughed as he drank some water from my own bottle.
"No it won't" I said
"Will too"
"Will not"
"Will too"
"Will not"
"Willllllllllllllllll too you dummy"
He shouted at my face .
"OK you win for shouting but I am not going to run again with you, like ever" I persisted
" ok." He muttered
" That ok sounded weird . What's wrong ?"
I have know Nathan since 1st grade , we basically grew up together . When ever he muttered I knew that something was wrong, he only does that when he's uneasy about something or something bad is about to happen .
" it's nothing ,I'm just tired that's all"
He was lieing .
I could tell .
Nathan had golden curly hair, thin lips, long eyelashes but thin, eyebrows not so thick, pale skin with blue eyebrows . He was 5ft3 at that time .
" I like you" He said faintly
I was shocked at first ,but I did have feelings for him and it was growing with every moment spent together .
"Ummm" I said shyly
" I really really like you Alora" He said as he entangled my hands with his . I was shy at first observing the unresolved tension between us , It started growing around us .
He hesitated at first as our faces drift closer not rushed , as if the moment itself needs time to breathe. The wolrd went silent and I could feel it by hearing the sounds of both our heartbeats. The kiss was soft , a gentle brush that feels like a promise being tested. It felt Magiical , his lips were soft and I didn't want to let go . Nathan withdrawed from me , finally my first kiss was with Nathan and it felt special having him take that honor.
I went home that day all happy and all smiles.
I couldn't even eat dinner , I was too engulfed in the moment . I slept all night thinking about him , we texted all night . Since it was the weekend we had plans to spend it all at the arcade winning tickets and prices.
Morning was here and I went to his house. I rang th doorbell but no one answered , I called but it was unreachable.
"That's weird , Mrs Sinclair doesn't work on weekends" I told myself.
It was weird at first, all the curtains were gone,even where the porch stood was all gone . The backyard was empty .
I ran back home and told mom to call Mrs sinclair to know what was wrong. She just said that they moved this morning. I felt uneasy at first .
" They moved to Canada this morning and they won't be back honey. I'm sorry I should have told you sooner" she expressed as she engulfed me in a hug . So Nathan is never coming back? Why didn't he tell me yesterday? Why didn't he ever mention it ?
My heart broke down into pieces , I exploded into tears as I lay onto my bed crying for support.
I began calling his number but it was always switched off.
Lily and Maddie came home that day , she helped cheered me up , lily was my safe place whenever I was down and maddie was the onee who added the blind to our friendship.
I called that same number for weeks, weeks turned into a month and month turned into a year and a year turned into a decade .
Presently I am attending Essex University in New Jersey and I tend to move on from Nathan .
I stayed at A house which my dad bought just for my convenience so that u won't have to stay in an hostel ,the drive to campus was 15 minutes away. The house had 3 bedrooms and I only occupied one .
Lily was going to Oxford University where she pursued her dreams to become a lawyer . Maddie and I both attended Essex but she decide to stay in Hostel because of her boyfriend Finn. She wanted to keep an eye on him all the time .
I came home exhausted from pre-med classes . I just threw myself onto the couch still having my clothes and then I dozed off without knowing anything .
