Chapter 20 - Invitation

Mr. Costa scoffed as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I do not care about that," he said coldly. "Fix this mess. Apologize to the board and to Delfina."

Filippo frowned immediately, his expression sour as though he had just been forced to taste something bitter.

"I am not apologizing to her," he replied firmly.

It was humiliating enough to be exposed for forgery in front of the board. But to apologize to Delfina? That felt like kneeling at her feet. His father might as well have asked him to hand over his pride.

Mr. Costa's glare sharpened, fury simmering beneath the surface.

"If you do not apologize to Delfina and resolve this matter," he said in a dangerously controlled tone, "I will reconsider your position in this company. Convincing Ricardo to become CEO will not take much effort. And believe me when I say this, Filippo, I am looking for a reason to replace you. Do not give me one."

The threat hung heavily in the air.
