Chapter 36 - Just A Path

Being a bartender wasn't an easy job. They had to listen patiently to drunk customers, to complaints that looped endlessly, to worries people didn't know where else to put.

I had noticed it during my time here—some people didn't come for the alcohol at all. They came to talk.

Because of that, the bartender at our bar was known for his good counseling. Most of his advice had a way of making people come back lighter, even if nothing had truly changed. There were quite a few regulars who came just to chat with him.

He was tall, maybe close to Elara's height, with a reasonably handsome face. His personality was gentle and calm. It made people feel at ease without trying too hard.

Looking at him, I felt like he might be the right person to confide in.

Normally, I denied having problems. Or I didn't think of them as problems at all—that was how I had survived my life so far.
