Chapter 18 - Three Years Later

Three years had passed. Michael's daily life in this new world had long become familiar. In the early days here, aside from training times, he always felt the inconvenience of living in this place.

In modern society, he had electricity, a refrigerator, a TV, all kinds of extraordinary conveniences. But living with Leo and Raphael, he felt he was like a primitive man.

Except for when he went down to the village and got a slight feeling of civilization, all his time was spent living with the mountains and forests.

---

On the cliff wall, two figures moved quickly like squirrels, constantly colliding with each other. Looking closer, they were two reckless kids, standing on the cliff wall fighting without fear of falling down.

These two were obviously Michael and Leo. After three years of training, Michael was now completely different, no longer a useless person like before.

His body was sturdy, his movements decisive and agile. Just looking at the way he traded blow for blow with Leo showed how much his combat ability had powerfully grown.

Of course, Leo still had the slight edge. After all, the only person here with a swollen face was Michael. What can a genius training for three years compare to a genius training for several decades?

Naturally, what Michael lacked was combat skill, not physical constitution. The progress rate of this body was very fast. Now compared to Leo, it could only be better, not worse.

The two suddenly stopped without any warning and sat on the cliff wall to rest, their legs dangling over the hundred-meter-deep abyss.

"Seems your progress rate has slowed down. The start was excessive, but gradually you can't keep growing that fast." Leo said.

Training Michael while training himself every day, he naturally noticed every detail. He had of course noticed Michael's growth rate decreasing and had mentioned this issue to Michael more than a few times.

"What are you implying? Have I been lazy a single day?"

Michael's face darkened. This was clearly reminding him to try hard like before. But could he do it? Absolutely impossible.

"You're not lazy... I can't confirm that. Anyway, whether you're lazy or not, only you know clearly. The output of a genius, how could it compare to a normal person's."

Of course, these words were mainly meant to provoke. Leo wasn't that stupid either. The human body, no matter how good, ultimately has its limits. The closer it develops to its limit, the slower it becomes.

Just like those athletes who hold world records. They are all geniuses, with special physiques and strong wills. At first, they could train very quickly, but it gets harder later on. That's also why world records mostly change only by small amounts each time, because they're already near the limit of humankind.

"Hmph, then you show me an example? Over the past few years, you've clearly also slowed down in growth. Otherwise, you wouldn't be struggling so much just fighting me." Michael snorted.

Hearing these words alone, you'd think he had strength on par with Leo. But looking back at his swollen and bruised face, it was clearly an exaggeration.

"Probably because my body has reached its limit. This world is really strange. My old father was clearly so strong, so why did I hit my limit right from the start?"

Leo said, then rested his chin in his hand, thinking. In the previous world, as long as you trained, you'd keep getting stronger. Even though the initial speed was much slower than in this world, its ceiling was much higher.

"You must have thought of this long ago. It must be related to becoming a contractor. I still remember when Raphael put the sword to my neck... The oppressive feeling from that sword was clearly not something an ordinary object could compare to. Moreover, that sword was summoned, not drawn from a sheath like a normal sword."

Michael gazed into the distance, in his heart curious about what kind of contractor he would become. Would an outsider like him even be recognized? What would recognize him and make a contract with him?

"When on earth will we become contractors~"

Leo sighed in frustration. He wanted to get stronger quickly, at least close to the level of his previous life. Only then could they swiftly carry out the revolution.

Even though the person who started the revolution in his previous life didn't know how to fight, their situations were different.

He's just a six-year-old kid now. Are the words of a six-year-old kid enough to make adults risk their lives? The answer is of course no.

Leo had experienced enough to know everyone has their own prejudices. People might believe an old man, might believe a passionate youth, but would absolutely never believe a child. In others' eyes, a child who's only lived six years, what could they possibly understand about the world?

So what if his soul's age is high? Nobody pays attention to that. Everyone trusts their eyes more than their ears. No matter how right the words are, if what they see isn't reliable, they won't believe it.

"It's still a long way off. I heard from the village chief we have to be twelve years old to awaken." Michael said dejectedly. He also really wanted to be stronger.

Leo suddenly stood up, his eyes full of determination. He didn't believe heaven would block the path of someone with resolve.

"Why does it have to be twelve? The two of us existing in this world is already an exception. Others can't do it doesn't mean we can't do it!"

His impassioned words stirred Michael's heart.

'Right, I'm a genie. How can a genie be like a normal person?'

The more he thought about it, the more he felt Leo's outrageous words made perfect sense. One is a soul that crossed a world, and one is a god who traversed worlds. Both are special existences, so why can't they open a special path?
