The unnatural yellow lightning didn't just strike the ocean but it lingered on, branching across the surface like glowing, veins and from the center of the steam cloud, the manic laughter grew louder.
A wave crested, pushed by the violent current and riding the wave, standing perfectly balanced on the floating, scorched carcass of a massive Tentacruel, was a yellow bipedal creature with a plug like crest on its head. It was swinging its arms in circles, screaming at the sky.
KRA-KOOM....
A bolt of lightning struck the creature directly and instead of frying, the electricity was sucked into the prongs on its head as the creature's yellow fur flared but it didn't scream in pain instead it shrieked in absolute, unhinged ecstasy like a maniac.
Alex raised his wrist, shielding his eyes from the lightning and then used observe.

[ Aptitude: Blue (Deep) ]
[ Ability: Motor Drive (Early Mutation) ]
"the fuck... Motor Drive?" Alex muttered, his mind stalling. "That's an Electivire ability not elekid one, It absorbs electricity to increase speed but it shouldn't have that yet."
The Elekid jumped off its exclusive deadbody surfboard, landing on the shallow reef and the water around its ankles instantly boiled from the overloaded electricity.
It stopped laughing as it's black, pupil-less eyes locked onto the beach, it ignored the dead Toxapex as well as every other pokemon there but locked eyes with Nidoking.
To Elekid, the massive, purple, spike-armored pokemon was the most beautiful, intimidating thing it had ever seen, it was a perfect challenge for him.
Elekid pounded its chest as sparks flew from its fists. It let out a high-pitched battle cry and pointed a finger directly at NidoKing.
Nidoking looked down and let out a low, rumbling growl, amused.
"Don't engage yet," Alex ordered sharply. "Let it come to us."
The Elekid didn't care about any strategy, the ambient electricity from the storm was still crackling across the reef and Elekid stamped its foot, intentionally absorbing a stray arc of lightning from the wet sand.
ZZZZZZZZZZTTTTTT.....
Elekid vanished, It was just a blur of yellow light and a sonic crack that threw sand ten feet into the air.
"Watch out!" Alex yelled, ducking behind a rock as the yellow blur zigzagged across the beach, leaving scorched footprints on the sand, the pressure dropped as Elekid materialized three feet in front of Nidoking, suspended in mid-air, it's entire body was encased in a volatile, blinding sphere of high-voltage golden energy.
Alex's observe was screamed a warning.
[ Anomaly Detected: Volt Tackle ]
Alex's eyes widened in shock 😲. "Volt Tackle? WTF That's a Pichu line exclusive, it's a suicide move!"
Elekid slammed into Nidoking's thick chest armor with the force of a speeding train.
BOOOOOOM...
The shockwave knocked Alex off his feet, Aron dug its claws into the dirt to avoid being blown away and Clefairy, completely unbothered, floated like a balloon.
A massive cloud of dust and sand buried both mons. "King!" Alex shouted, readily scrambling to his knees, pulling his pokeball. If Nidoking was injured even with his ground type, he had to recall him instantly. The dust slowly cleared and Nidoking was still standing, he hadn't even been pushed back a single inch as his feet were firmly planted in the sand. He looked down at his chest plate, where a small patch of soot stained the purple scales and casually brushed the soot away with one massive claw, Volt Tackle, despite its terrifying force, had zero effect and at Nidoking's feet lay the Elekid.
The recoil damage from the Volt Tackle had hit it hard as it was dizzy, flat on its back, little sparks puttering out of its exhausted antennae, it groaned shaking its head and slowly sat up.
It looked at its fists then, it slowly looked up at the towering, unbothered behemoth standing over it but Elekid didn't look scared nor it did look angry instead it's eyes widened and jaw dropped.
It scrambled to its feet, ignoring its bruised ribs and ran up to Nidoking's leg and hugged the thick, scaly calf as it looked up at King with an expression of pure, unadulterated worship.
Ele! Kiiiiid! it babbled excitedly, pointing at Nidoking's chest, then flexing its own tiny string-bean arms. Boss! Boss!
Nidoking looked at Alex, thoroughly confused. Do I smash it? he signaled with a snort.
Alex slowly rose up and looked at Elekid, who was now shadow boxing the air, demonstrating how hard it had hit, clearly bragging to its new idol.
"It's a fucking adrenaline junkie," Alex realized, staring at the manic little battery. "It hit the hardest thing in the room, did zero damage, and fell in love instantly."
Alex's mind raced, a Blue Aptitude Electric-type with Motor Drive and a special move like Volt Tackle which no one would expect was a gift from heaven. It was exactly the kind of firepower he needed for his team and he can already think of how powerful it will be as a Electrivire.
Alex stepped forward and walked up to Elekid as the yellow gremlin stopped shadow boxing and glared at Alex, sparking aggressively. Back off, hairless. I'm with the big guy.
"You like hitting things huh?" Alex asked smoothly, his voice taking on the calm, manipulative cadence he used to con recruits in the mess hall.
Elekid paused, tilting its head.
"He's my heavy hitter," Alex pointed a thumb at Nidoking. "But he gets bored and there aren't enough things on this island that can survive his punches, he needs a sparring partner, someone who can actually take a hit and keep moving."
Elekid's ears perked up as it pounded its chest eagerly.
"I know where the more powerful mons live," Alex lied, pulling an empty Pokéball from his belt. "I know where those alpha pokemon wanders around, I take him," he pointed to Nidoking, "to fight them every single day."
Elekid practically vibrated as it looked from Alex to the Nidoking.
Nidoking, catching onto the grift, crossed his massive arms and gave a slow, intimidating nod.
"You want to stay here and surf on a dead jellyfish?" Alex asked, holding the pokeball out loosely. "Or do you want to come with us and fight like a real powerhouse?"
Alex didn't even get to finish the pitch as Elekid didn't weigh its options and didn't even wait for Alex to toss the ball.
It lunged forward, winding up its arm, and punched the button on the center of the Pokéball.
Flash........
Elekid was sucked inside and the ball fell into Alex's open palm.
It didn't even shake once as it clicked.
Click.......
Alex stood in the middle of the ruined reef, holding the captured ball and looked at his pokemon who were watching from the sideline.
"Well," Alex muttered, utterly dumbfounded, clipping the ball to his belt. "That was the easiest kidnapping I've ever committed."
He turned his back to the ocean, adjusting his clothes as he looked forward for more adventures.
