Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 Uninvited Intruders

Elena's POV

I spent the rest of the morning curled up on the bed, letting my emotions settle.

Minnie's betrayal still stung, but the humiliation from Dorian's kiss burned even fiercer in my chest.

"Oh," I groaned, turning onto my side.

I had kissed him first. What the hell was I thinking?

My phone buzzed with a text, dragging me from my thoughts as I grabbed it.

'Tick tock, Elly.'

Marcus. Fury surged through me, pushing the embarrassment aside.

Marcus was about to become the target for all my pent-up emotions. I grabbed my laptop, pulled up the piece I'd written about him, and hit publish.

He didn't get to pull his crap and then threaten me on top of it. The moment satisfaction kicked in, my thoughts wandered back to Minnie, and the anger dissolved into pain.

I sighed, shutting the laptop. The fake kidnapping had been pointless, but it shattered something inside me.

"Get it together," I muttered, reopening the laptop.
