Chapter 25 - Who is My Mother?

As the four are about to sit Garamba summons three of her servants and orders them to keep watch over the borders and report if anything suspicious happens.

Garamba sets up her sitting position, "You can start with your explanation now before mine gets a little jumpy!" she hurries Genteel into talking.

Genteel clears her throat, "Okay, okay back then what happened is this that after the war of the witches. Your father stayed in the enchanted forest for a while fighting off the demons that threatened the residents of Alabaster Weald."

"So, what does that have to do with me?" Mukura asks trying to make sense of the short details offered.

Gurudza holds Mukura's mouth, "Let her finish! You are being too impatient. I am sorry, please continue." he apologises and releases Mukura.

"I knew she existed but I never thought that you had a child, Genteel!" Garamba interjects, "I found out about her existence the day I left to the forest to see Gurudza and I saw her with Takada but never did it even cross my mind that she could be your child. I always thought she was Takada's child!"

Genteel raises her index finger and they stop talking, "During that time Mukura was conceived and later on I gave birth to her and the god appeared right at that moment and he told me to let you go with Takada and your father but I didn't want you to leave. I never wanted to give you up!"

Tears flow from her eyes, "All I got were visits and I had to act like I did not give birth to you," she breathes angry, "Like I am not your mother and you are not my daughter, and after your father died, I never saw you again."

Mukura sad after hearing these words she stammers, "But why?" she asks.

"Takada never came with you to the Enchanted forest for me to see you ever again." She answers.

"What god? Who told you to give me up and why did they?" Mukura presses on with the questions.

Genteel wipes her cheeks and eyes, "The Wezhira god! He said that it was for the best and that you had a great destiny ahead of you to fulfil and that it was a necessity for you to go and live with Your father and his wife but I did not want that!"

Mukura gets up, "Then why did you not fight for me? As far as I am concerned, I have one mother and that is Takada Chikura!" she does not shout but the anger in her voice is felt.

Gurudza stands up and holds her hand, "You need to calm down!"

A cold stare is directed at Gurudza by Mukura, "Calm down, seriously? Calm down?" she scoffs, "Do you know what I have been through all my life or even a bit of it? The only person that ever showed me love in this whole entire world was taken by that demon and it was because of me and I have to get her back and on top of that I am learning that the woman who I have been calling mother is not actually my mother and what you are saying to me is calm down?" she yells at him.

Gurudza grabs her by the arms, "Even I am as angry as you but please do hear her out! I do not want you to regret anything later so please do hear her out and then make a decision later!" he pleads with her.

Mukura looks at Genteel and returns her eyes to Gurudza, "No!" she rejects, "Where is Tatenda, queen of the dark forest? I would like to leave now!"

"I did say I was going to let you live but never did we agree on letting that boy go!" Garamba refuses to give him up.

Mukura walks towards Garamba, "I am not fully recovered but I am sure I can defeat you at my current capacity!" she prepares to attack.

Garamba smiles and freezes Mukura on the sport, "What an impudent little girl!" she ambles to Mukura, "I was wrong! You are nothing like Genteel!" she sounds disappointed.

Gurudza summons lightning and it strikes right in front of Garamba and she turns to look at him, "I will not let you harm her!"

Garamba's eyes turn innocent, "Harm her? No, I am simply going to give her a condition if she would like to take the kid with her. She will have to listen to her mother and then she can leave with the kid!"

Genteel, jumps in in a sad voice, "Garamba, let her go, please! If she does not want to listen to me, even if we force her, it will only make things worse." She breathes heavily in exhaustion, "She needs time to gather her thoughts and emotions and make a decision!"

Garamba snaps her fingers releasing her, "If you say so, my friend!" she agrees to let her go, "The boy is at the place where we were going to execute you at!"

Immediately she leaves without saying a thing to anyone and takes Tatenda with her and head home.

Gurudza gets in front of Garamba and looks too deep in her eyes and questions her disappointed, "What were you going to do to her mother?"

Garamba does not even blink as she answers her, "Like I said my child, I was going to make a proposition so she listens to her mother."

Gurudza still has those disappointed and mistrustful eyes on his face, "I wish I could believe you but you are giving off a liar's stench from all over!"

He departs and heads home also abandoning the expedition he was sent to by Wezhira.

"Everything that has occurred in their lives is tearing them apart and I will capitalise on it and kill them both!" Gwanhoya exhales loudly, "Family is such a disappointment and somehow you still cling to it hoping that one day all the betrayal and pain they bring will someday turn into something positive and they support and love you in everything but all they are capable of bring is pain after pain on the same wound they inflict on you they make sure that the scars haunt you for the rest of your life the!" she completes her speech.

Both Garamba and Genteel look at her with infuriated eyes and they do not reply her.

She puts on a puppy face, "What? Are you both not happy to see me?" she asks getting closer to them.

"What do you want demon!?" Genteel asks pointing her stuff a Gwanhoya.

Gwanhoya stops and turns her eyes red, "What I have always wanted! To kill your daughter and your son." She answers getting closer to them.

Garamba surrounds herself in darkness and her eyes turn bright red like Gwanhoya's and she summons the witches to where they are.

She walks to meet Gwanhoya in the middle, "I will not let you harm my child in any way, I admit I failed him as a mother before but I will not fail him by letting him die especially at the hands of you, demon!"

Genteel comes forward too, "I won't let you touch my precious daughter also!" she turns her eyes white.

Gwanhoya falls back, "Ohh my! Glad I did not come here personally!" she begins to fade into darkness, "Next time we see each other, it will be at their funerals."

Garamba turns to look at Genteel, "We need to follow them quickly before she gets to them!" she suggests to Genteel and she agrees and both head out following them.
