Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: Returning to the Gym

"Take you back?!" Robert looked shocked at her anger, even if the girl was as cruel as his daughter surely she should be happy to be away. There's no way Sabrina treated her any better than the hoards of psychics she's traumatized, "Young one, I just saved your life!"

"Saved my life? You ruined it, I was so close!" Eliana actually spoke out loud, scowling hatefully at the man. Not only did he wake her up at such an unreasonable time, she had just gotten off of punishment. She wanted to break the rules yes, but that was of her own accord, not being dragged around like some kind of doll. Now because of this pitiful father she'd have to start all over on breaking down Sabrina's walls.

If looks could kill, the glare Eliana gave Robert would have put him six feet under. Raichu's sparking started up again as her patience was running thin, the teenager had to stop her Pokémon from shocking the man. Kirlia was grumbling angrily, this whole situation was wasting his beauty rest. Even the normally uncaring Staryu was agitated, core blinking angrily.

Eliana commanded in his head, her voice dangerously low.

Robert shook his head, "I will not be doing that! If you're this adamant about going back, you don't understand what Sabrina's truly capable of. What she'll do to you if you stay with her."

Eliana's patience finally snapped. Her eye flared, a visible, terrifying glow in the dim light of the field. The air around her crackled with raw, untamed psychic energy. The ground trembled, and the half-dead trees shuddered, their branches groaning in protest.

"You think I don't know?" she snarled, her voice a low growl. "You think I'm some clueless little girl who stumbled into the wrong playground? I know exactly what she's like. I know what she can do and it's glorious."

She took a step closer, her movements fluid and predatory. "You see a monster where I see a teacher. You see a prison that stifles and I see an opportunity for growth. You ran from her power and I'm basking in it."

"You won't take this from me!" Now normally Eliana wouldn't have hesitated before taking a life but she wasn't sure how Sabrina would react to this particular death. However if this man kept testing her she'd just have to find out when she got back to the gym.

Robert gave Eliana a long tired look, before turning to observe her Pokémon. He let out a a disappointed sigh, "I've wanted you child, whatever happens when you go back is ok you, I won't save you."

"I don't need to be saved by anyone, but especially not you." Eliana rolled her eyes before speaking again, "And you better listen up old man, you interfere again and I won't let you leave with your mind intact."

She turned away from him, "Now get me back."

Robert finally stopped being difficult and teleported her and her Pokémon back to her room, leaving them there without a word. His face was full of fear as both of the felt Sabrina's power wash over them. Robert quickly fled the room but Eliana knew that Sabrina would be tracking him from now on, he had really pissed everyone off.

Eliana had to stop herself from calling him back, she had more questions. She didn't want to deal him being difficult again though, she definitely kill him if she had to talk to him in the month. The teenager would have to find another way to get answers.

She stood there for a moment, the silence of her room a stark contrast to the chaos of the past few minutes. Her Pokémon were still on high alert, their bodies tense. Raichu was the first to relax, letting out a small sigh of frustration. Kirlia went back to grumbling about how this whole ordeal had messed up his sleep schedule, he wanted to get back to bed. Staryu's core stopped blinking angrily and it went back to its position by the window.

Eliana took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside her. She was furious, not just at Robert, but at the interruption, it was unbelievable how weak he thought she was. But beneath the anger, a cold, calculating part of her mind was already at work, analyzing the situation. Robert knew things, and she had explored every part of his mind. Eliana now knew things about Sabrina's past, about the dollhouse, about the extent of her power.

Just as the girl began complementing what to do with this new information she felt herself being pulled out of the room again. This time it was just her, no of her Pokémon came with.

Eliana was about to lash out before recognizing her teacher's signature and slightly calmed herself down. The teenager looked up to see Sabrina's face filled with as much fury as she was feeling herself. But surprisingly it wasn't directed at Eliana, instead it was aimed at the ceiling, as if the woman could see through the building and all the way to Robert wherever he was. Eliana wondered what the older woman was thinking but not even her reckless self would invade Sabrina's mind at a time like this.

The older woman didn't even acknowledge Eliana at first, her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, a mix of rage and something else, something that Eliana couldn't quite identify. Which confused her, the teenager had thought she'd seen all the emotions Sabrina had to offer, but she was clearly wrong.

Sabrina's anger was a palpable force, a psychic storm that made the very air in the room crackle. The floorboards creaked and groaned, the walls seemed to breathe. Eliana had never seen her teacher like this, so completely consumed by her fury. It was terrifying and exhilarating all at once. After a few moments of Sabrina just staring through the ceiling, she finally turned her attention to her student. The woman's eyes were glowing, a faint, eerie light that made them seem almost inhuman.

Sabrina's mental voice was a heavy feeling, a wave that seemed to vibrate in Eliana's very bones.

She took a step closer to Eliana, her movements fluid and predatory.

Eliana looked confused at that,

Sabrina stared at Eliana as though looking through her, strangely enough the girl didn't feel the usual pressure of her teacher's powers on her mind.

Eliana rolled her eyes, seriously Sabrina had seen her abilities and she knew how strong her Pokémon were. If they didn't want to be somewhere they had the full amount necessary to get out.

Sabrina's anger worsened and she finally searched through Eliana's memories of the night. But soon said anger began to wane as she watched what actually happened,

Eliana pointed out, looking at Sabrina who had an expression the girl had never seen before. Usually Sabrina's faces ranged from blank to full of rage but she had never seen the woman look as shocked as she did right now.

Eliana seemed to be getting tired of the conversation her mental voice rising from having to repeat herself so many times.

Sabrina quickly corrected that, to Eliana's annoyance,

Eliana scowled, she didn't like the way Sabrina said that, as if she wasn't capable of making her own decisions.

The look on Sabrina's face was a mix of wonder and apprehension, as if she had just discovered a new and dangerous species. She seemed to be seeing Eliana for the first time, not as a student, or a pawn, but as an equal.

Eliana scoffed,

Sabrina let out a small, almost imperceptible laugh, a sound so out of place that Eliana was sure she had imagined it.

Eliana didn't have an answer for that. She wasn't a monster, she was just... Eliana. She did what she had to do, what she wanted to do. If that made others see her as a monster, then so be it. She had been called worse.

Eliana repeated, her mental voice firm and unwavering.

Sabrina commented drily, The older woman then teleported the girl back to her room.

Eliana opened her eyes, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. She was back in her room, her Pokémon still sleeping peacefully. The whole encounter with Sabrina's father, and then Sabrina herself, felt like a strange, disjointed dream. But the lingering anger in Sabrina's mind, and the unfamiliar expression on her face, were all too real.

She lay back down on her bed, her mind still racing. She wasn't a monster. She was just... different. And she wasn't the only one, Sabrina was different too. And for the first time, Eliana felt like she wasn't just a student, but a kindred spirit.

The thought was both terrifying and exhilarating.
