Chapter 22 - Finalising The Contract

The Bison King actually got on its knees before bowing down to Woolie!!

"Moo!!" I greet the new Emperor!!

Watching this, all the beasts went wild!!

The little one did it! He actually beat the old one and became the new King of the hill!! No, Emperor of the Hill!!

One by one, they all started bowing their heads down like dominoes, creating an amazing visual spectacle.

"ROAR!!"

We Greet The New Emperor!!!

Witnessing the earthshaking scene, Raiden felt stunned. Somehow, his little rascal had done something outrageous in such a short time.

Woolie, on the other hand, was blushing. He had never expected to witness such a scene in his life. But it felt like it shouldn't keep everyone waiting.

ヾ(≧▽≦*) o

"Woolie!!" Ahem~ Everyone Rise!! Your new Emperor will take you to new heights!!

Hearing his words, all the beasts became even more fervent and roared even more loudly, scaring Raiden. What if his Woolie didn't like how he treated him and wanted to get revenge on him?

He decided to postpone his scolding; he will take care of him at home. He wanted to preserve his Woolie dignity in front of his new henchmen, not because he was scared of them, definitely not.

"Mr Raiden, tell me honestly, are you here to kidnap all the beasts in our shop and take them home?" Maple made a strange face as she questioned him.

She had never seen someone come here and try to become king of the beasts. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought he might be planning something bad, trying to coax everyone away.

"Ahem... Beautiful big sister Maple, would you believe me if I said I had no idea about all this?" Raiden found himself feeling underconfident in his own words.

If any onlooker came here, they would feel like Woolie was trying to start a cult, the Cult of the Lamb.

"You are a funny one, Mr Raiden—you and your Terra Beast both." Maple just laughed.

-------------------------

After reluctantly dragging Woolie away from his newfound henchmen and promising to visit them again in the future, Raiden finally dragged him away from his plains, finally having a sigh of relief.

Soon, both Raiden and Maple sat at a table with a contract in front of them. It was a pretty detailed one, properly documenting all the purchases Raiden made, and the discounts he had, and all that was left was the price and location of the delivery.

"Umm... About that miss Maple, how about I tell you the location of the delivery tomorrow? Will that work?? Can you do one-day delivery?" Raiden had a headache; he had made a promise to supply a massive amount of fleece and brought the Woollies, but he certainly couldn't keep them at home. There was not enough space.

Tomorrow was the one-week deadline, and he hoped that the government officer would keep his word and let him inherit the farm.

He didn't even know about its location yet. If he did not get that space, and without a location to keep all these Woolies and start working, he would be f*cked from all sides.

"Sure, that will be perfectly all right with us. Let us see here, since you are purchasing around 10 Woolies, and with their quality, they will cost around 60,000 credits each. After your Platinum Membership discount, 42,000 credits each. Since you are our cherished customer, I will round that up for you, 40,000 each, for a total coming out to 400,000 Credits."

Raiden felt sharp pain in his heart after seeing the final price. He wasn't even sure if what he was thinking would work, and was just making a blind bet on his future.

With a shivering hand, he brought his phone towards the scanner before reluctantly tapping his phone on it, all the while Maple looked at him with one hand on her face, smiling, like she was watching some form of supreme entertainment.

Ka-ching!

Your Account Balance Has Been Deducted: Current Balance: 14,682 Credits.

He felt pure pain looking at his bank balance. He came here to sell his Wool and get rich, but despite this, he was now walking back home, poorer than ever before. Life felt like such a big scam to him.

"It was a pleasure doing business with you, Mr Raiden. Thank you for your patronage."

"No, thank you. Really, Thank you."

As if she didn't notice his tone, she continued to speak.

"Have you purchased food for these Terra Beasts, Mr Raiden? If not, why not consider us? You can still avail a discount as a Platinum Member."

This single sentence sent Raiden into shock. Woolie, who was happily sitting on table drinking milk with a straw, looked at his human, who was making a face like his whole world ended.

Ignoring him, he went back to drinking. Nothing was more important than food after all.

"Umm... How much would that food cost miss Maple?" Raiden barely squeezed out his words. He had never considered this before. And he had already spent all his money, including 350,000 Credits he had gotten from Sarah in advance payment.

"Let's see, since you are buying around 10 of them, each will need at least a single bottle of Milkos for sustenance. So that's 10 bottles a day, 300 a month. With your discount, it will come out to 210,000 Credits only."

Fucked. Raiden knew he had made a mistake in calculation, and he was completely fucked. Maybe it was not such a bad idea to sell the farm after all. It was okay to sit at home and be an otaku.

He didn't mind losing hundreds of millions of dollars that would be lost if he sold it. Not at all.

'Fuck that. I am not giving up now. I'll sell my kidney if I have to!'

Gritting his teeth, he looked at Maple in front of him, who was laughing with amusement.

"Beautiful big sister, since I am your Platinum customer, and a completely trustworthy individual, who will absolutely pay back every single penny, do you think you can avail me an overdraft facility or a loan or something?"

"You are such a flatterer, Mr Raiden. We can certainly do that for you."

"How about this, I will create an overdraft account of a million credits just for you. You can purchase anything here under that amount, interest-free."

The truth was that no such facility existed. All the people who held a Platinum Membership card came from wealthy families, never lacking in any kind of money. But Maple herself wasn't interested in money. Connections were the most valuable things. The more he felt indebted to their firm, the better. A million credits was just chump change for her anyway.

After finalising the contract, Raiden walked out of the shop with Woolie in his hands, looking like he lost a soul. The amount of debt didn't matter to him anymore. Small or big number, it was all the same; he couldn't pay back any of it. Might as well take advantage of it.

As he walked home with Woolie on his head, he only hoped that tomorrow was his day, the day he finally started making his comeback.
