Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Putrid Blood

"Miss~ it's very dangerous to not be home so late."

"Hehe..." "Hehe..."

A man with dyed yellow hair stood in front of Akatsuki, while two other men stood on either side of her.

The three of them made no attempt to hide the desire in their eyes, brazenly sizing up Akatsuki's body. That naked, lustful gaze made Akatsuki feel uncomfortable—a physiological sense of revulsion.

"It seems changing bodies doesn't change one's orientation," Akatsuki thought as she slowly lowered her head, beginning to wonder if the principle of "matter determines consciousness" applied to her.

Seeing Akatsuki lower her head, the three men thought she was scared and laughed even more wantonly.

The yellow-haired leader seemed to have already imagined the scene of Akatsuki pinned beneath him, begging for mercy, and let out a series of unpleasant laughs.

"Miss, Fuyuki City is very dangerous at night, but we'll protect you~"

He reached out toward Akatsuki, the grin on his face becoming increasingly unscrupulous.

Akatsuki slowly raised her head. A smile suddenly played on her lips, but her eyes grew colder.

"Did you think I was afraid of you?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, Akatsuki's figure blurred, and she struck instantly.

She was incredibly fast, weaving between the three men like a ghost, delivering a flurry of lethal blows.

With two muffled groans, the other two men collapsed to the ground. Akatsuki clapped her hands and looked at the yellow-haired man still standing, a look of disdain on her face.

Before the yellow-haired man could react, he felt a sudden sense of weightlessness. In the next second, his eyes widened in terror. He never imagined that the seemingly fragile Akatsuki could knock out two grown men with her bare hands.

And she had actually lifted him up with one hand.

He tried to turn and run, but Akatsuki's hand on his collar was like an iron vice.

Akatsuki tilted her head. She stared at the man's neck for a moment, thinking, then opened her mouth.

Seeing that Akatsuki hadn't struck him, the yellow-haired man began to breathe a sigh of relief, but when he saw the fangs in her mouth, his heart leaped into his throat again.

Fangs of that length were definitely not something a human could possess. The man recalled the stories his grandfather had told him about Vampires, and a terrifying thought began to surface.

"Tsk, I really can't bring myself to bite. It smells too bad..."

Even without tasting his blood, Akatsuki could smell the putrid, rotting stench through his skin. At the thought of her first taste of blood being something so foul, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

With a look of disgust, Akatsuki threw the man to the ground.

"How unlucky," Akatsuki complained with a wry face. She had already dealt with so much tonight, and then she ran into these three disgusting people.

She looked at the three men lying on the ground, wondering how to deal with them.

Kill them? No, no. Killing someone right after arriving in Fuyuki City would definitely attract the attention of the Mapo Priest. If he reported it to the Church or the Mages Association, she could say goodbye to her peaceful daily life.

Let them go? That was even worse. Who knows if they would harass someone else next time? Releasing them now would make her an accomplice, wouldn't it?

After thinking for a moment, Akatsuki smiled. She waved her hand, and the three unconscious men were instantly lifted by an invisible force... Seeing their three heads sticking out of the ground, Akatsuki felt much better. She tossed their clothes into a nearby fire she had just started, then hummed a little tune as she left Fuyuki Park.

She'd leave finding someone to feed on for another time.

As for the possibility that the theory of "matter determines consciousness" would gradually shift her orientation toward men, Akatsuki dismissed it. After all, there was a thing called "yuri" in this world.

Akatsuki was now female by gender and female by orientation!

Anyway, as long as she was happy, who cared about common sense!

As Akatsuki walked aimlessly down the night-shrouded streets, she thought about her future life.

"Should I find a house to live in? I can't keep sleeping under bridges, right? I'm a True Ancestor now; using Suggestion to rent a house should be..."

Just then, she suddenly saw a familiar figure crouching not far away, seemingly peeking at something.

"Tohsaka Rin?"

Akatsuki recognized her at a glance. Combining the time and location, Akatsuki immediately made a deduction: Tohsaka Rin should have already summoned Archer by now and hadn't gone to school today. Naturally, the subjects she was spying on were a certain helpful citizen under the streetlight and Matou Sakura.

Akatsuki erased her presence and then walked openly toward Tohsaka Rin, who was crouching nearby.

"I didn't go to school today, I don't want to be spotted by them."

"I see, so that's how it is!"

After the helpful citizen left, a slightly teasing voice suddenly sounded in Tohsaka Rin's ear.

The voice appeared so suddenly that Tohsaka Rin instinctively recoiled the moment she heard it. Her Servant, Archer, was also startled and immediately appeared between Tohsaka Rin and Akatsuki.

With a flash of cold light, Archer projected twin blades and slashed at Akatsuki.

Akatsuki reached out and caught the blades quite casually.

"Tohsaka-senpai?"

Matou Sakura's confused voice caught Tohsaka Rin's attention. She looked at Tohsaka Rin from a distance, bowed slightly, and then left.

"Assassin? No, impossible. Even for an Assassin, I couldn't have failed to notice them at this distance!"

Archer frowned as he looked at the smiling girl, his mind racing for a countermeasure. "Who are you?"

Archer's gaze was extremely wary, and he tightened his grip on the dual blades.

"Don't be so nervous. I'm just an innocent girl who happened to pass by and saw a beauty."

Taking advantage of Tohsaka Rin being distracted by Matou Sakura, Akatsuki gave a light leap, quickly bypassing Archer to get behind Tohsaka Rin. She grabbed Rin's arm with one hand and placed the other around her slender neck.

"Wha—ugh...!"

It all happened too fast—so fast that even Archer couldn't react before Akatsuki had taken Tohsaka Rin hostage.

Tohsaka Rin let out a small cry as Akatsuki gripped her neck. She didn't dare move, and Archer, with his Master held hostage, couldn't act rashly either. After all, the strength Akatsuki had just displayed was beyond both of their expectations.

"Not an Assassin? But without extremely powerful Presence Concealment, how did she appear so silently so close to my Master?"
