Chapter 45 - Chapter 44: You Hurt My Dogs, Didn't You?

On the terrace of a bustling restaurant, a young girl with golden eyes was nonchalantly drinking her fruit juice.

Even though she wore a simple hoodie and had a simple haircut that stopped at the level of her neck, she radiated a captivating aura. In particular, her golden eyes.

The men around the adolescent's table could not help but cast a second glance after the first. Many even turned a third time, unable to resist the curiosity she awakened.

Sitting quietly at her table, Nayuta nonetheless seemed completely indifferent to the passive agitation around her.

The adolescent was distractedly spinning her straw in her glass filled with juice before taking another sip, then spoke:

"You disappoint me, my dear Bayer. Do you really think that idiot Kokun and his men will be enough for such a mission?" she asked while staring at the juice in her glass.

Nayuta's tone was perfectly neutral, without the slightest trace of anger.

Yet Bayer stiffened slightly.

He had clearly felt the discontent hidden behind that calm voice.

"Bark. Mistress, I assumed that this mission was not worth your time," he declared after a short reflection.

Nayuta slowly set her glass down on the table.

The soft clack of the glass against the surface briefly drew the attention of a few neighboring customers, but she paid it no interest.

Her golden eyes then rose toward Bayer.

"You assumed?"

Two words only.

Bayer felt a drop of cold sweat slide down his temple after meeting his mistress's gaze.

However, he forced himself to answer.

"Bark… Yes, mistress."

Nayuta remained silent for a few seconds.

Then a slight smile appeared on her lips before an abnormally high gravitational force projected Bayer across the restaurant.

The act was so nonchalant and fluid that the sorcerer was unable to react. And even if he could have, the latter would no doubt have preferred to receive his punishment.

"Then you assumed wrong," she said while looking away from the incompetent one, embedded in a wall and surrounded by a crowd confused by the sudden explosion.

Nayuta calmly picked up her glass again and brought the straw to her lips.

"I hate it when my dogs take too much initiative. Yet you know that, don't you?" she added, before taking a short pause and shifting her gaze in a certain direction.

Nayuta's smile widened slightly.

"Especially when they are clearly useless against an obstacle," she said after hearing an explosion in the direction of the place where the target of their contract resided.

Faced with two auras whose power was not inferior to hers, the young Cursed Corpse felt no fear at the idea of failing to carry out the contract published by "The Time Vessel Association."

After all, she was simply going out to "get some air" with her dear animals.

Whether the contract succeeded was a bonus. However, a genuine murderous intent emanated from her.

"But it is solely up to the master to punish his beasts, and not to a third party," she declared while placing money on the table after signaling a waiter.

The amount left by Nayuta was more than enough for the meal and to cover the damage caused to the wall by her attack on her subordinate.

…

"S-stop!!! Tell him to let me go!" pleaded Kokun, as a cursed spirit tried to forcibly kiss him with enormous plump lips.

The curse user struggled fiercely. But it was clear that the inevitable was no doubt going to happen at this rate.

Unconsciously, he wondered how he had ended up here.

Where had he gone wrong?

"Damn it, why didn't Bayer answer my distress signal?" he cursed in his mind while watching Gojo and Geto clearly mocking him.

A humiliation.

"Haha, that's a good one. Did you hear that, Satoru? He wants me to stop," mocked Geto while pointing at their client's attacker.

Gojo was still floating in the air while holding Reiko after having saved her from the sudden attack of the curse user in white.

"Indeed, this guy is funny," added the slender adolescent from the air, outside the ruined apartment.

Perhaps she had been awakened because of her "uncomfortable" position in Gojo's arms, but Reiko started to stir.

"H-hum… what happened? Huh?! Who are you?!!! Where is Misato?!!" she immediately started to yell.

Gojo tried to speak, but received an unexpected punch aimed at his face. If it hadn't been for Infinity, he would certainly have been hit.

"Calm down, Reiko. We are from the 'Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical.' We were dispatched to protect the 'Star Plasma Vessel,'" explained Geto in a patient tone.

Unfortunately, the young girl did not seem to believe his explanations and was searching with a worried gaze for her legal guardian.

A detail that Geto noticed.

"If you're looking for your governess, she is still unconscious because of this scum's attack," declared the sorcerer while alternately indicating the curse user and the place where Misato Kuroi was lying.

Reiko did not care about the "details" mentioned by Geto. The young orphan immediately rushed to the bedside of the unconscious woman after setting foot on the ground.

A touching sight that even touched Gojo's insensitive heart.

"Still, Suguru. Don't you think these attacks were abnormal?" declared Gojo while casting a glance at the ruins that the apartment had become.

Despite his arrogance due to his strength, Gojo was not stupid. Kokun and his subordinates were clearly not ordinary curse users.

He had been able to defeat him with Geto, but the latter estimated that the forces deployed to eliminate Reiko were largely above those of the second of the "Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical."

That was how high a level the men in white had.

"Hmm… I think so too. Unfortunately, this guy clearly doesn't want to say anything. I don't know who he's afraid of, but the latter is considering death rather than angering him," replied Geto while watching the man being forcibly kissed by the cursed spirit.

He had preferred to stay silent and endure this trauma rather than reveal information to Geto.

"Well, it's not very important. No matter who is directing this guy in uniform, he won't stand a chance," he said while walking toward Reiko with a nonchalant gait.

Geto nodded behind him, then spoke:

"Logical, we are the strongest—"

Geto's words remained stuck in his throat before the latter was abruptly pressed toward the ground.

The Grade 1 was immobilized.

"Well, I wasn't expecting a victory, but seeing my dogs in this state is pitiful and remains a disappointing spectacle. Sigh. Too bad, I'll have to take care of this mission myself," Nayuta let out while arriving from the apartment window.

In a similar fashion to Gojo, the woman could clearly fly in the air with the help of her innate technique.

Geto tried to raise his head to better observe the new enemy, but gravity crushed him once again mercilessly.

Nayuta nodded, satisfied with Geto's submissive attitude, before casting a brief glance toward Reiko, then toward Gojo.

"You are the ones responsible for the injuries of my dogs, aren't you?" she asked while amplifying the gravity in the vicinity, without caring about the sounds of pain left escaping by Reiko and Geto.

Despite the scene under his eyes, Gojo's facial expression showed neither panic nor any fear while observing Nayuta's cursed energy.

The holder of the Six Eyes could tell at a glance: the woman facing him was strong.

However, he still prepared his Blue.

"Dogs? Are you the kind of girl who plays role-playing games with several boys?" teased Gojo, in a psychological attack aimed at destabilizing Nayuta, then exploiting a flaw in her defense.

Unfortunately for Gojo, his plan had worked a little too well.

Nayuta was a susceptible woman.

Apart from her father and creator, no man who had treated her that way had survived to brag about it later.

"Die."
