Chapter 66 - Looks Like It's Not My Turn to Make a Move

"Hiro, you're too slow."

Rias landed beside him and couldn't help complaining.

Her tone said one thing, but the bright smile on her face said another.

"Ara~ Hiro-kun's that is coming again. How exciting."

Compared to Rias's faint tsundere tendencies, Akeno's reaction was far more honest.

Even if the way she phrased it was... a little ambiguous.

As one of the recent "test subjects" who had received Hiro's gift, Akeno thoroughly enjoyed the feeling of her body being filled by the Red Dragon Emperor's power.

In more ways than one.

"Akeno, at a time like this, you still have the mood for dirty jokes?"

Sensing how relaxed the two of them still were, Hiro judged that he'd reached the limit of what Rias and Akeno could handle. He stopped the Boost of the Red Dragon Emperor's Gauntlet and patted their heads with the dragon-shaped armor covering his palms.

"Ugh..."

"Mm..."

A charming groan and a soft one sounded at the same time.

Click. Click.

The crimson armor covering Hiro's face shifted briefly, revealing his helpless expression to the two girls.

"You've been strengthened. Go already."

After saying that, he ignored the looks on Akeno and Rias's faces that clearly wanted to say more.

He stretched out his arms and shoved them forward, sending both of them flying into the air at an angle.

"Such a basic buff operation, and these two idiots make it sound like something else. No dignity at all."

Listening to their faint cries echo in the distance, Hiro muttered under his breath.

After sending them off, he turned his gaze to Kiba Yuuto and Koneko, who were still entangled with the hellhound not far away.

"Koneko. Kiba. It's your turn."

At his words, both immediately disengaged and rushed toward him.

"Thank you."

Koneko kept her usual blank expression and thanked him softly.

Then she turned around without hesitation and returned to the battlefield.

Kiba Yuuto, however, didn't rush back right away.

He clenched his right hand, then bowed deeply.

"Thank you very much! With Nanamiya-kun's power, I feel like I can cut those swords in half with a single strike!"

Seeing Kiba Yuuto's determined expression, Hiro thought for a moment, then decided not to pour cold water on him.

"Then go for it."

The Holy Swords hadn't fully merged yet, and Kiba Yuuto still hadn't obtained his Balance Breaker.

With both sides weakened, whether he could truly cut them down and achieve his redemption was still uncertain.

"Of course!"

With a ferocity that didn't quite match his gentle appearance, Kiba Yuuto turned and dashed off.

His target wasn't the hellhound anymore, but the four Holy Swords in front of Valper that were still in the process of merging.

As for Valper-the initiator of the Holy Sword Project and the one who issued the "clean-up" order-Kiba Yuuto naturally didn't know the truth.

Not without Xenovia and Irina explaining it to him.

Hiro knew.

But he had no intention of telling Kiba Yuuto.

"Hey. Red Dragon Emperor."

As Kiba Yuuto vanished, a malicious voice drifted down from above.

Hiro looked up.

Kokabiel's pale, corpse-like face entered his vision.

"If you can't kill me, this town you live in will be destroyed soon. Why don't you take out that red spear from last time? Or do you not care about this town's fate?"

As he spoke, Kokabiel swung his right hand downward.

A light spear several meters long instantly formed and plummeted toward Kiba Yuuto's position.

Bang!

Kiba Yuuto sensed the danger and leapt away just in time.

Though the shockwave sent him flying, he didn't suffer any serious injuries.

"This is my town," Hiro replied calmly, meeting Kokabiel's scarlet gaze as he raised his right hand and made a downward gesture. "How could I not care?"

Then he paused.

"But it looks like it's not my turn to make a move."

Roar-roar-roar-

Amid the pained howls of demonic beasts, a massive bolt of yellow lightning-over ten meters in diameter-descended from the sky, striking straight down at Kokabiel's throne.

Crackle!

At the same time, a huge crimson sphere of magic power, over fifty meters across, surged upward from below.

From above and below, Akeno's and Rias's attacks slammed into Kokabiel's throne almost simultaneously.

Boom-!

The deafening explosion echoed across all of Kuoh Academy.

The sudden gale uprooted rows of landscaped trees behind Hiro.

And this was only the result of a single attack each from Rias and Akeno after being strengthened by him.

"Ara, ara~ underestimating the current me can be quite painful, you know, Mister Fallen Angel Cadre."

Watching fragments of the throne tumble downward, Akeno's expression brightened.

Perhaps due to her teasing nature, a faint, unusual color crept onto her cheeks.

"Now you understand our power, right, Kokabiel!"

Rias stared at the smoke-shrouded center where the throne had been, excitement seeping into her voice.

She hadn't expected that after Hiro's strengthening, the two of them alone could injure a ten-winged fallen angel.

In this state, even if she had to face Riser Phenex by herself, she was confident she could win.

After experiencing it firsthand, Rias clearly felt it.

This strengthening was several times more exaggerated than the previous "trial."

And with that realization, the thought of making Hiro her servant grew even stronger in her heart.
