Chapter 14 - Flirting with a goddess.

"Back to my request. I hope you can give me some of your time." Smiled the goddess.

"It's not like I have any choice, right? You even colluded with that fucking system! Not a good impression i must say. But in light of our bond and your beauty,am willing to offer my time." Norlan winked at the end.

Did this guy know no fear? That is a freaking god level being. A being that could squash him like a bug by just thinking of him. Yet...

"Just don't go overboard alright, am not taking any requests to go kill a God or something along the lines."

The otherworldly goddess stiffened, her body held in place as she looked at Norlan oddly.

' Is our karmic bond that strong? How did he know my next words. Does that mean I can't actually lie to this mortal.' Thoughts collided in the goddess mind, all plans of bewitching Norlan to be her lackey dropped.

From her divination, she had already seen Norlan being in the right places to help her. Now, all she needed to do was convince him.

It was supposed to be easy. First she would build up the perfect atmosphere to develop fear and reverence through her expression. Then appear in a flying feathered snake for aesthetic purposes, all the while placing herself in a superior position before begining to convince him with her beauty and worldly treasures.

This was supposed to be a seemless and easy task, considering the fact that she even did it personally. But was this...?

The mortal was familiar with the manifestation of her expression. He was not only not moved by the fact she was a goddess but there was no reverence or fear in his eyes at all. Just something else, a gaze that she had never had chance to be on the receiving ended of.

The gaze of lust.

How was she supposed to even convince him? This was foreign territory for the goddess. Someone who always had everything she desired simply by just thinking about it.

Sigh!!

A loud sigh found it way to the goddess's ear.

"I hit the jackpot huh, how about this then. Legs go somewhere more auspicious. This place isn't helping your case. I am also curious to why or even how I would be able to help you kill a god."

Goddess Aurelia jumped at the suggestion, Melon shocked by how this Mortal seemed to be slowly taking control of the conversation. Wasn't he supposed to be under the influence?

"How about some tea in my garden? I do have some of the best tea leaves in the universe."

"You will brew tea for me?" Norlan flashed an innocent smile. But the backlash was delivered immediately.

"Audacious! Blasphemous! How dare..." Muffled sounds were heard as the goddess sealed Melon's mouth.

"Then how about your bedroom?" Another bombshell. The goddess's hands fell of Melon's mouth. Melon's expression was stunned. Just how shameless can you be? And...and ..

"Shameless pervert! What are you looking at when you say such shameless things!" Melon protested, following Norlan's gaze to the Goddesses twin peaks.

"Something you clearly wish you had."

A laugh wizzled it way out of the goddess's mouth.

Norlan felt good about that one. Just like it had said on the magazines he used to read on Earth. ' The Best way to flirt is to subtly ragebait the best friend in a way that the target feels uniquely seen.'

And it seemed to have worked. The goddess was actually laughing as she grabbed Melon's reaction to pummel Norlan to smithereens.

"But I don't have a bedroom." The goddess finally spoke after a few more laughs.

"Then where do you sleep?" It was now Norlan's turn to receive a bombshell.

"I don't sleep. If I need rest I usually just rest on my throne. It's quite comfortable if you're wondering. It has this refreshing vitality formation that is very comfortable...." The goddess started rumbling about her throne. It seemed that she really liked it. Not even noticing how she was talking more than usual. Like she and Norlan were best friends who had not seen each other for a long time.

All the while, Norlan listened with a smile. Not at all keeping track about the formations on her divine throne. His mind felt at ease that he had broken some walls, and that the goddess was actually a chatterbox when she gets comfortable with someone. His mind just floated there nodding away as she talked. A singular sentence hovering in the air.' I don't have a bedroom'

That had many implications. One specifically causing Norlan to blush with improper thoughts. ' Is my goddess actually so innocent? Has she never been with a man before?'

Melon on the other hand was having panic attacks one after the other. What was happening here. Why was she talking too much. Where was the cold goddess? Where was the one who held dominion over blood, bloodlines and inheritance? Is she really the same person? Why was she dancing on this mortals hands ? Or is the karmic bond between these two really that powerful?

Terrifying!

She looked at Norlan. It seemed she had underestimated this Mortal. She looked at his blushing face and instantly knew that he wasn't even listening. He was definitely thinking of inappropriate shameful things.

Then he heard him talk, her guard instinctively raised to deflect whatever he may say.

"My beautiful goddess, you do know that a bedroom has other functions right." The goddess blushed for the first time as she nodded. Norlan's desire deepened.

"Good that you know. Here I was thinking about rambling about all the features the bedroom could offer..." He teased. Her cheeks burned hot and rosier at the thought. Embarrassment almost taking over like a teenage girl talking to her crush.

"Enough!" Melon couldn't take it anymore. At this rate, something unthinkable would happen. So she attracted their attention.

"My lady, the breath of the world is not limitless. It will end in a few hours when the preparatory barrier is done. We can't keep him here for a long time." She looked at Norlan, who was even more confused. What are you talking about kid! Can't you see that two consenting adults are talking? Norlan glared.

"She's right. We need to reach an agreement before the last bubble pops." She spoke with a serious expression. She turned to Melon..

"If Norlan is comfortable talking inside a bedroom, we will use yours." She instructed, not bothering to hide her blush as she said this.

Norlan consented. " But..but.." Melon was tongue tied. This was not the conclusion she had imagined. Her mind was in disarray. What should she do? She was in a dilemma.

But the goddess was suddenly impatient, her divine composure shredding like parchment in a storm. She reached out and took Norlan's hand, her grip firm and cool, intending to teleport with him to Melon's bedroom in the blink of an eye.

Then suddenly, something ridiculously impossible happened. The teleportation failed, the expected twist of reality dissolving into nothing was but a stagnant, awkward stillness.

The goddess froze, her entire form locking in place. Fear, insecurities, confusion and other unknown emotions interchanged in her expression, flashing across her perfect features like shadows being chased by lightning. Norlan was startled, his own confusion spiking. Why did her expression suddenly just change?

Subsequently, her eyes dimmed and glowed, a visible cycle of introspection while she reigned in her emotions, smoothing her face into a mask of serene concentration.

Thinking of things with an analytical mind, she became a being of pure cognition. In one second, millions and millions of possible reasons why her divine power was suddenly sealed when she touched Norlan played in her mind, a dizzying fractal of logic and suspicion.

For context, the mind of a God realm being processed thoughts more than a billion times faster than a mortal. That one second was an eternity for her, like a vast desert of computation.

Then her eyes twinkled, as if a light bulb of an idea manifested above her head, casting an almost palpable glow of revelation. She looked at Norlan, her gaze now sharp and probing.

She slowly let go of his hand, making the separation feel deliberate and significant. Covertly, she also followed the flow of energy between them, trying to figure out what was happening. Her senses tracing the invisible threads that now seemed to bind her.

She then tried to teleport after releasing Norlan's hand.

She succeeded, vanishing from the spot with a soft pop of displaced air.

She then reappeared a fraction of a second later, her expression one of intense focus. Taking Norlan's hand again, she tried to teleport. She failed, the space around them refusing to bend. She let go of his hand. She succeeded, blinking out of existence instantly.

She reappeared and took his hand again, trying a different approach, trying to fly in the sky with him, or to simply lift off the ground.

She failed, her divine strength useless against his inexplicable anchorage to the ground, looking like a cute jumping frog trying to move a mountain.

She let go of his hand again, a flush of sheer frustration coloring her cheeks.

She flew, breaking sound barriers with a thunderous crack that echoed across the bloody plain as she flew past the gigantic feathered snake which followed along, its massive head tilting in what seemed like reptilian curiosity.

Melon by the side, always the clutch, was trying her best to close her mouth that was now very much agape, her hands rising to physically clamp her jaw shut.

"Things just got even more complicated!" She couldn't help but mutter.
