Chapter 1: Innocence
Ava's hands cradled her swollen belly, a gentle smile on her face as she felt the baby kick. Seven months pregnant, and every moment felt like a miracle. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she gazed out the window, watching the sunset paint the sky with warm hues. The nursery was almost ready, and she couldn't wait to meet her little one.
Her mother, Catherine, entered the room with a warm smile, her beauty and poise still captivating. "Ava, dear, you're glowing. Pregnancy suits you." Ava's thoughts drifted to her baby's nursery, already decorated with love and care. She had spent hours picking out soft toys, pastel colors, and adorable mobiles.
"Mom, can we talk about the baby's name?" Ava asked, her mind racing with possibilities. Catherine's expression flickered, but she quickly regained composure. "Of course, sweetie. Let's discuss it later, okay?" Ava sensed a hint of unease behind her mother's smile but brushed it off.
As Catherine turned to leave, Ava noticed a faint scar above her mother's left eyebrow, a reminder of a long-forgotten incident. "Mom, what's the story behind your scar?" Catherine's eyes darted away, and she hesitated before responding, "Just an old accident, dear. Nothing to worry about."
Ava's curiosity was piqued. What secrets was her mother hiding? And why did she sense an underlying tension in their conversations?
