Ava's curiosity about her mother's past lingered, but she pushed it aside, focusing on preparing for the baby's arrival. As she sorted through tiny clothes and toys, a knock on the door broke the silence. It was her best friend, Sarah.
Sarah's eyes widened as she admired Ava's nursery. "It's perfect! You're going to be an amazing mom." Ava beamed with pride, and the two friends chatted about everything from baby names to nursery decor.
As the evening drew to a close, Catherine called Ava into the study. "Ava, we need to talk about something important." Ava's heart skipped a beat as she followed her mother into the room.
