Morning came softer than expected.

Not the violent kind that drags you out of sleep by the collar. No alarms screaming. No nightmares clawing at the edges of consciousness. Just light… pale and warm, slipping quietly through the curtains like it had been waiting politely for permission.

I blinked awake slowly.

For a second, I didn't move. Didn't think. Didn't remember.

Just existed.

And then I stretched.

A long, indulgent stretch that arched through my spine and unraveled every knot sleep had melted loose during the night. My muscles protested faintly, then relaxed, like they'd signed a temporary truce with the world.

"Damn," I muttered, voice thick with leftover sleep. "That was one hell of a sleep."
