Chapter 124 - Chapter 124: The Heights of Power

Instantly, the massive golden sun came barreling towards the woman in silver, who had now lost her expression of indifference and was staring at the golden sun moving straight towards her with an expression of interest.

This golden sun is quite interesting; it doesn't seem to be from some sort of special technique. It feels as if he has summoned a projection of the sun from the sky and placed it right in front of me.

And those golden flames...

She narrowed her eyes as she allowed some of the golden flames to touch her finger, which instantly tried to burn her spiritual energy and vitality off her body, causing her eyebrows to twitch.

This thing actually dares to burn my spiritual energy and vitality? How impudent.

Despite her words, her eyes shone with an increasing level of interest as she actually had a hint of a smile on her face.

Let's see what else this thing can do.

Instantly, she raised her dainty finger, finally making contact with the golden sun. Right at the moment she made contact with the sun, her expression suddenly changed from one of interest to a slight grimace, as the ability of the golden sun to burn off her spiritual energy and vitality suddenly increased by about a hundredfold.

Of course, this wasn't nearly enough to cause any sort of significant damage to her; even if she somehow found herself smack-dab in the middle of this golden sun, she would probably just feel a slight tingling sensation on her skin, while her spiritual energy and vitality would just instantly regenerate like nothing happened.

Clearly, that was not the reason why this woman suddenly had a grim look on her face; it was because she felt something in the sun that caused even her to develop a hint of fear in her heart.

This golden sun... is just a projection! But why does it feel like if it improves by just a bit more, this thing has the potential to become an actual sun! Does this kid have some sort of sun inside of his body?!

When Huang Shi realized that the sun making contact with his target didn't cause any sort of damage, his expression grew grim as he grit his teeth. Thankfully, he had expected this outcome, and so he instantly pointed towards the golden sun and tried something that he didn't do so before because he was afraid of the consequences.

[NINE SUN IMMORTAL CODEX - GOLDEN SUN HALO]

Instantly, a change occurred with the golden sun, as it started to expand and tremble as if its stability were starting to crumble. Before long, a loud rumbling sound erupted from the golden sun; after a few seconds of waiting, it suddenly exploded forming a massive circular halo that turned into a monstrous conflagration of golden flames.

BOOOOOOOM!!!

The explosion rocked through the Greenwood Forest, destroying the trees, rocks, and vegetation within a two-hundred-meter radius. Every single spiritual beast that had a cultivation base below the True Profound Realm was instantly incinerated, as they didn't even have the time to scream before they were wiped out of existence by the golden flames.

Even those spiritual beasts at the lower levels of the True Profound Realm weren't spared; those who were weaker, like at the first level of the True Profound Realm, instantly died in misery, while those at the second level and higher suffered varying degrees of injuries. Some suffered worse than others, but none escaped the golden light.

As a matter of fact, the golden light was becoming so bright that if a person were currently there to see what was happening, they would no longer be able to see anything in the surroundings and would effectively become blind, with the golden light being the only thing they could see.

Just as it felt like this entire area of the Greenwood Forest would be wiped from existence, a terrifying silver light suddenly erupted from the woman as she waved her hand.

WHOOSH

The silver light instantly grew brighter and brighter; before long, it was the only thing that shone in the night sky as the golden sun was purged from existence, its golden fire becoming extinguished by her all-consuming power.

This wasn't all, as the woman—as if trying to send a message to him—waved her hand a second time. All of a sudden, as if time were moving in reverse, all of the broken rocks, trees, and vegetation that were destroyed by the explosion suddenly started to return and fix themselves into place, moving with a terrifying efficiency.

In fact, even the log cabin, which had been destroyed in the very first clash, was restored to its original appearance; it was such a perfect recreation that even the ruffled sheets and pillows were in the exact same place, as if nothing had happened.

In fact, the only signs that a battle—if it could even be called as such—had occurred here were the numerous spiritual beasts that had died from the golden explosion; if not for those, no one would even know that something had happened here tonight.

Huang Shi, on the other hand, had long since collapsed onto the ground as he tried to use his hands and knees for support. His injuries from his previous fight, which had already started to heal, once again broke open as blood appeared all over his body, and the bones in his chest, arms, and ribs broke simultaneously, making him feel like he was about to die.

His vision was blurry and his hearing was muffled; his heart was beating so fast he felt like he could hear it directly in his ears.

THUMP THUMP THUMP

Just as it felt like he was about to pass out from the pain, a figure in a purple nightgown suddenly flashed into existence right beside him as a milky, silvery-white light covered his body in an instant. Her dainty hands supported his trembling body, her soft skin feeling cool to the touch.

Shit... I think I overdid it... Right when he was about to lose consciousness, he heard a voice speak right beside his ear. It was soft and gentle, like it was trying its best to stay calm, but the trembling of her fingers on his body betrayed her inner thoughts.

"D-don't pass out! Please don't pass out! If you pass out now, you might really die!"
