Chapter 2 - Reliable Little Sister

On the sofa sat a girl, intently watching an anime playing on the television.

The girl's hair just reached her shoulders, and its color matched his, and even the ahoge on her head was extremely similar, but her appearance was different from his plain one; she looked clever and cute, and her demeanor wasn't gloomy, but youthful and vibrant.

It was his sister, Hikigaya Komachi.

"Komachi." He called out.

"Eh, Oni-chan, why are you looking at me with those dead fish eyes? Did Komachi make you angry?"

Komachi reacted, looking at his face, and joked.

"I've always had dead fish eyes, have you forgotten? But what you just said certainly sounds like you're trying to make me angry."

He feigned anger.

"Ah, sorry, Oni-chan, don't be angry! Komachi was just joking, really. Oni-chan, you shouldn't always have the same expression; it's a bit scary."

Komachi clapped her hands.

She even showed her cute little fangs when she apologized.

"I was just joking too."

Saying that, a faint smile appeared on his face.

"See? Oni-chan looks pretty good when he smiles!"

Komachi stood up, nodded in satisfaction, and patted his shoulder.

Hey, which one of us is the elder here!

Hikigaya watched his sister withdraw her right hand, then his expression became serious as he continued: "Komachi, I have something very important I want to ask of you!"

"Did I, did I hear wrong? That Oni-chan, like a solitary knight, is actually asking me for help? Is this the first time Oni-chan has asked me for help?" Komachi's expression was astonishment.

"Just tell me if you'll agree or not." Hikigaya's gaze sharpened.

"Of course I'll agree! How could I, as your sister, refuse? No matter what, I'll always be Oni-chan's last support..."

At this point, Komachi seemed to realize it belatedly, winking playfully and raising her hand in a gesture.

"Ah, what I just said was really cool."

How could she be so cute? This life form named Komachi, did she grow up eating cuteness?

Hikigaya couldn't help but think to himself.

"Well then, it's time to say it, isn't it? What do you need to ask of your reliable little sister?" Komachi clasped her hands behind her back, tilting her head up, a wide smile on her face.

"Um, actually, I plan to borrow some money from you."

"Oh, it's just a small matter like that. Tell me, how much does Komachi need to lend you?"

"About 50,000 yen."

"Huh, how much?"

"Around 50,000."

"Wait, Komachi can indeed come up with that much money, but borrowing so much at once seems a bit strange, doesn't it? Oni-chan has always been very frugal, right? Could it be that you're deep in debt outside, found you can't pay it back, and can't tell Mom and Dad, so you had to come to your sister..."

His sister's clear eyes were looking at him suspiciously.

"Don't ask so many questions."

Hikigaya was still a little shy and didn't answer directly.

"No, no! If I don't figure it out, what if Komachi becomes an accomplice? Unless Oni-chan tells me this is for buying adult books or something."

His sister shook her head, rejecting that notion.

"Wait, Komachi, what are you even saying?!" Hikigaya raised his hand to interrupt her.

"What's so shocking? Oni-chan is at that age, isn't he!"

His sister had an 'you know what I mean' expression.

"You know I'm not talking about that... Never mind, it's fine to tell you. Actually, I'm planning to buy a laptop."

He sighed.

"Hmm?"

Komachi's gaze sharpened a bit, signaling him to continue.

"Uh, well, because I plan to submit a light novel, I intend to use it for typing."

After all, their routines were similar, and some things could be hidden from the Hikigaya couple but not from Komachi. Since it would be exposed sooner or later, it was better to just say it directly.

"What? A light novel submission? Oni-chan, do you mean you want to become a light novelist?" Komachi was extremely surprised.

Hikigaya nodded solemnly.

"Oni-chan, you're not sick, are you? Did your brain break? Don't dream in broad daylight." Komachi reached out and touched his forehead, testing his temperature.

"He's not sick either." She withdrew her small hand and mumbled softly.

"Because I'm serious." Hikigaya reiterated.

Komachi looked him directly in the eyes, as if confirming something.

"Well, since Oni-chan has decided, then Komachi will choose to support him. After all, sometimes in life, failure is a necessary experience for a smoother future." Komachi swung her arm, turned around, leaving only a beautiful profile.

"Before it even started, Komachi already decided I'd fail?" His expression darkened quite a bit.

"Komachi didn't say that."His younger sister said, while whistling.

"Just you wait, your Oni-chan will surely make you look at him in a new light."

After getting the money he borrowed from his younger sister, Hikigaya secretly made up his mind.

One afternoon.

Because their parents worked overtime and usually came home late at night, he found an opportunity to bring the laptop he bought back to his room and placed it in a locked drawer.

Before his light novel achieved success, it was better not to let their parents discover this, to avoid unnecessary disputes.

It's worth mentioning that due to his reincarnation, his memory had improved, and he had learned a lot of knowledge, so he had no worries about his academic performance.

He was confident that he could complete the light novel work without delaying his studies.

After dinner.

Hikigaya locked the door to his room, slowly opened his typing tool, and under the light, his eyes shone brightly.

"So, let's officially begin…"

"My life."
