Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Kushina's Arrival

Compared to other A-Rank Ninjutsu, the cultivation of the Rasengan is actually much more difficult.

If we compare Ninjutsu to a math problem, then performing hand seals is like working through the calculations on scratch paper, following a step-by-step process.

Cultivating the Rasengan, however, is like abandoning the scratch paper and calculating the answer purely mentally.

Adding Nature Transformation to the Rasengan is akin to interdisciplinary fusion, all while requiring mental calculation. This is something ordinary people simply can't achieve.

It's worth noting that while the cultivation method of the Rasengan is extremely difficult, its underlying principle is surprisingly simple.

In essence, it's just "rolling a ball"—literally rolling a ball!

You can think of it as a simple concept that requires complex mental calculation, which is exactly the opposite of those Ninjutsu that rely on hand seals.

Techniques like the Flying Thunder God Technique or the Immortality Technique are like Qian Xuesen's manuscripts. Even if you have them right in front of you, you won't understand them if you lack the knowledge, and you won't be able to learn them if you lack the skill.

On the other hand, advanced techniques like the Rasengan or the Tailed Beast Ball are like atomic bomb manufacturing. The principles aren't particularly complex, but the actual execution is extremely difficult.

Kakashi described the Rasengan as the "pinnacle of Chakra Shape Transformation," and this was no exaggeration.

Nawaki's ability to master tree-climbing in just two hours demonstrated his exceptional Chakra control, suggesting he met the prerequisites for cultivating the Rasengan.

Watching Nawaki waddle across the pool, one foot ahead of the other, Minato smiled knowingly and turned to prepare lunch in the kitchen.

Treading water was an advanced technique built upon tree-climbing, requiring only the additional step of dynamically adjusting Chakra in real-time. Having already mastered tree-climbing, it should have been a matter of a few attempts to grasp this new skill.

Sure enough, before Minato had finished preparing the meal, Nawaki's triumphant shout echoed from the yard:

"I did it!"

"Go add some difficulty for him," Minato said without turning his head. The Clone chopping vegetables beside him turned and headed outside.

"Minato! Quick! Look! I did it!" Nawaki exclaimed excitedly, standing steadily on the water's surface in the small pool.

The Clone nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Minato sent me to increase the challenge."

As he spoke, he crouched down and placed his hand on the water's surface. Instantly, towering waves surged forth!

"Whoa—!"

The waves surged, disrupting the chakra beneath Nawaki's feet, and he plunged into the water with a splash.

"You can start training the Rasengan once you can walk freely on the waves," the clone said with a grin.

"Damn it... I just let my guard down! Just you wait—I'll master this right now!"

Nawaki climbed to his feet, wiped the water from his face, and tried again to stand on the water's surface.

By the time Minato finished cooking lunch, Nawaki had barely managed to maintain his footing on the waves, though moving still seemed strained.

"Lunch is ready!" Minato called from the house, carrying the dishes into the yard.

Hearing this, Nawaki rushed inside, changed out of his soaking clothes, and sat down at the table to devour the meal ravenously.

After finishing, he dashed back into the yard to resume his water-walking practice.

Another two hours passed quickly.

Nawaki now strolled casually across the water, completely unaffected by the surging waves beneath his feet.

"I did it..." Nawaki's voice brimmed with excitement, a sense of bitter-sweet triumph washing over him.

"Congratulations! You can now begin training the Rasengan," the clone said with a smile, then vanished with a pop.

Meanwhile, Minato was silently memorizing the hand seals for Earth Release ninjutsu in his room. After receiving the memories from his clone, he stood up and walked out.

As soon as he stepped into the courtyard, he saw Nawaki sitting on the porch, gently massaging his ankle and wincing with pain.

"Hisss... That hurts!"

"You overexerted your chakra," Minato said with a soft chuckle. "It's not serious, but we should get it checked out at the hospital to prevent any long-term damage. Our teacher should be there right now."

Recently, the border of the Land of Rain had been troubled, with injured ninja being sent back every few days. This had led to a shortage of staff at the hospital.

Tsunade wasn't officially stationed at the hospital, but due to her exceptional medical skills, she was often called upon to help. Her influence, bolstered by her status as the First Hokage's granddaughter and her striking beauty, actually gave her more authority at the hospital than the headmaster himself.

"It's fine. We can wait for Sis to come home and have her take a look," Nawaki said urgently. "Let's just start practicing the Rasengan right away!"

Minato shook his head. "Then we'll need to go out and buy some training tools for you."

"Alright..."

Nawaki looked rather dispirited.

He changed into fresh clothes, and just as the two stepped out the door, they saw Tsunade approaching the house with a red-haired girl.

"Sis!" Nawaki waved to Tsunade.

Minato's gaze, however, fell on the girl beside Tsunade.

The girl had a head of vibrant red hair, as bright as flames, and a baby-soft face that looked round and plump. Her large, jet-black eyes sparkled with life.

"Where are you off to?" Tsunade asked, noticing they were leaving.

"Nawaki overexerted himself practicing water treading, and his ankle's a bit sore. I was just going to take him to the hospital to see the Teacher," Minato explained.

"Oh?" Tsunade squatted down and gently pressed on Nawaki's ankle. She stood up quickly. "It's nothing serious. A good night's sleep should fix it."

"But I didn't expect you to have already reached the water treading stage, Nawaki! Did Minato teach you? How's your progress? Have you mastered it yet?"

"Of course!"

Nawaki crossed his arms, his chin tilted in pride. "I can walk on water now!"

Tsunade chuckled and ruffled his hair. "Really? Impressive!"

Nawaki turned his head, embarrassed, to avoid her touch. "Stop treating me like a kid!"

"But you are a kid, after all~"

Tsunade chuckled again, gently placing her hand on the girl's shoulder.

"By the way, let me introduce you to her. This is the child I mentioned earlier, who will be staying with us temporarily. Her name is Uzumaki Kushina."

"Hello...," Kushina said nervously, a flicker of unease in her eyes.

"Oh! Hello! I'm Nawaki! I'm the older sister's younger brother! Nice to meet you!" Nawaki gave a thumbs-up, grinned toothily, and said enthusiastically.

"Hello, I'm Namikaze Minato, Teacher Tsunade's disciple. Nice to meet you."

Minato's warm smile helped ease some of Kushina's nervousness.

That's more like it...

Who introduces themselves as "my big sister's younger brother"?

This yellow-haired kid seems pretty normal, except he sounds a bit effeminate and lacks manliness...

Kushina muttered inwardly.

Though initially anxious about her new surroundings, she was actually quite lively—some might even call her fiery.

Seeing that their first meeting was going smoothly, Tsunade smiled at Minato. "Excellent! To celebrate Kushina's arrival, let's make dinner a bit more lavish tonight!"

Minato smiled and nodded. "Mm, leave it to me."

Hearing this, Kushina's expression froze momentarily.

Huh?

What's with this family?

Why is a kid cooking?

Did the village actually sell me off?
