Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: The Heat of the Root and the Final Confrontation

As Imran Baba stepped toward that dark entity with the courage of a savior, the smoke billowing from the well grew even denser. The shadow, which had now taken on a monstrous form, began to roar like a wounded beast. The intensity of its voice was so great that the surrounding trees trembled, yet the flame of the lamp in my hand remained perfectly still—as if the storm outside had no power over it.

The Demonic Attack and the Test of Patience

Imran Baba gripped his prayer beads tightly and began reciting Surah Al-Falaq in a loud, commanding voice. With every verse, the dark shadow was forced to retreat. But suddenly, a voice pierced my ears that made the ground slip from beneath my feet.

"Brother... save me! Brother, it hurts so much!"

It was my younger sister's voice. I felt as though she were standing right behind me, weeping. My heart screamed at me to turn around instantly, but I remembered Imran Baba's warning: "Do not look back, no matter what."

I clenched my teeth and held the lamp even tighter. Without shouting, Imran Baba said, "Hassan! This is a deception. They are preying on your weakness. Keep your eyes fixed on the flame!"

The Secret of the Well

Standing at the mouth of the well, Imran Baba threw down an ancient, consecrated parchment. As it fell inside, it wasn't flames that erupted, but a brilliant blue light. In that radiance, we saw a small, old bundle (potli) buried at the bottom of the well, wrapped tightly in specific types of black thread.

"There it is," Imran Baba said. "The root. It has been buried here for three generations, devouring the blessings and peace of your family."

The Final Strike

As the shadow began to weaken, it made one last desperate attempt. A sudden whirlwind of dust rose in the air, surging toward us. Imran Baba traced a new protective circle (Hisar) in the air with the finger wearing his silver ring and proclaimed:

"O Allah, You alone are the Protector!"

With a sudden boom, the black shadow dispersed into the air. The heavy, suffocating atmosphere vanished instantly. The birds, which had been silent all this time, began to chirp once more.

The First Ray of Peace

Imran Baba took a deep breath, a look of satisfaction finally crossing his face. Pointing toward the well, he said, "Hassan, a major chapter of your trial ends today. That bundle is now powerless. But remember—the protection of a home comes not just from recitations, but from your own faith."

We left that desolate corner of the village behind forever. On the way back, the weather was no longer harsh. I felt that the silver ring on my finger was no longer freezing cold, but was instead radiating a comforting warmth.
