Lyra's POV
Alaric had been avoiding me completely for an entire week since I exploded in his office. Honestly, I couldn't blame him. I didn't want his so-called help anyway. I kept up my training schedule alone, sometimes partnering with Poppy, but never with him. Being strong was my goal, but I refused to accept his misguided attempts at assistance.
His help was nothing but dead weight holding me back.
When Monday rolled around after my confrontation with both Alaric and Vivienne, classes picked up their normal rhythm again. Poppy had stopped feeling obligated to escort me to shifting class since I now had my own personal bodyguard in the form of a sharp-tongued wolf living in my head, complete with an attitude and a tail that never stopped moving. That Monday morning, I made the trek to the forest by myself. Anticipation buzzed through me as I wondered what my first shifting lesson would be like now that I actually had a wolf.
