Lyra's POV
I slammed the car door with more force than necessary, the sound echoing across the campus grounds. The driver moved past me without a word, heading toward the trunk to retrieve my luggage. From the passenger seat, a massive figure emerged. The wolf stood well over six feet, his broad frame filling out a perfectly tailored black suit that did nothing to soften his intimidating presence. Our eyes met briefly, and he offered the barest hint of acknowledgment before turning away.
This had become my reality.
Following the vampire attack weeks ago, I had been whisked back to the castle for the winter solstice celebrations. Those days blurred together in a haze of isolation, my only companions the silent maids who attended to my needs and the imposing guardian who now shadowed my every move.
