"Dakota," Kade said, his voice carrying that same rough quality she remembered but colder now, more controlled. "Sit."

It wasn't a request. It was a command delivered with the absolute expectation of obedience.

Dakota's spine stiffened automatically at the tone, her wolf bristling at being ordered around despite the mark on her neck that proclaimed her his. But she also recognized that she was in no position to refuse, that she was in his territory, under his control, and defiance would accomplish nothing except potentially making her situation worse.
