Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Order

JAY'S POV:

Then my eyes snagged on Ci-N's empty seat. He was absent today. What happened to him? I'll call him. Wait a sec... Shit! I don't have his number.

I'll ask Felix. I glanced his way.

If I want to change these jerks, I can't just use words—I need my brain too. And I know exactly what to do.

"Felix! Come here!" I called out.He started to stand, but Yuri stopped him. What's his problem?

"If you need something, why don't you go to him yourself?" Yuri snapped.

I frowned. So rude! I rolled my eyes and pulled a big chocolate bar from my bag.

"Felix!" I called again, holding it out.

The fool looked like a drooling dog. Even our classmates turned, eyes sparkling. Have they never seen chocolate before?

Keifer glanced over but kept his poker face. Yuri couldn't stop Felix from bolting toward me.

Yes! Psychology at work. 😉

"This is really for me?!" Felix asked, clutching it excitedly.

I smiled.

"Yes, it's yours."

Like an eager kid, he fumbled to open it—until Keifer snatched it away.

"You're too slow!" Keifer grumbled, popping it open in seconds.

He took a piece and shoved the rest back at Felix.I raised an eyebrow, giving Keifer my I-know-you-want-it stare. So arrogant—he'd never ask. If he did, I would have buyed the whole shop.

"You really like bringing food, huh?" Keifer said.

I rolled my eyes. What's it to you?

"Then I have a task for you."

Rory handed him a paper. Keifer scanned it and passed it to me.

I read the list:

Order #1

2 rice / menudo / 1 bottled water

Order #2

2 ½ rice / shrimp sinigang / orange juice

Order #3

Lasagna / iced tea

And so on...

"What's this?" I asked, confused.

"Our orders. Go buy them from the cafeteria," Keifer said.

Why me? Unbelievable! These jerks just made me their servant.

"Why are you ordering me around?"

"You like bringing food anyway. Might as well deliver ours too," Keifer replied, hand in his pocket.

"What makes you think I'll follow you?!" I snapped—in English, for maximum sass.

I'm smart, men, smart! No way I'm following orders.

"Simple..."

His expression shifted. He smirked, gaze dark and intense as he stalked toward me.I didn't back up. I won't show fear. But my heart pounded like it was racing a marathon.

"You wouldn't want us to go hungry. We get vicious when starving... We might just eat you instead."

He winked.I raised an eyebrow.

"You think that'll scare me? In your dreams!"

His smirk faltered a bit.

I opened my mouth to fire back, but Felix whined, "Jay..."

I looked at him. He looked so hungry. I couldn't let my brother starve.

"Okay... but not for you."

A loud cheer erupted from the class. Keifer straightened and handed me cash—ten thousand pesos! My heartbeat slowed as I took it. I scanned the list again. Damn, this was a grocery haul.

"Problem with the list?" Keifer asked.

"Oh, plenty. I'd love to shove it down your throat!" I shot back, annoyed.

I stormed off before he could reply. The cafeteria was cursed—always bad luck. I entered, and as expected, it went silent, then erupted in whispers. I ignored them, joining the endless line.

Finally, my turn. I ordered everything, asked for boxes, then pulled out a lollipop to kill time while sucking on it.

Whispers floated over:

"She's acting just like Keifer."

"I think she loves him."

"She'll transfer out soon too."

"I saw her with Ci-N. Total flirt."

"Ate Tindera!" I called.

She handed me the bill; I paid.

Three boxes: one big, two smaller.I grabbed the big one.

"I'll come back for the rest—can't carry them all."

I marched out, ignoring the stares and whispers. Keep talking!

Back at our building, Felix waited at the door. He bolted inside yelling,

"She's here!"

No one helped—they just ripped open the box like animals, grabbing food and complaining theirs wasn't there.

"Hold on—another box coming," I said, dashing back.

The cafeteria line was a nightmare again. No waiting for me. I squeezed past a guy at the counter.

"What the hell?!" he barked.

"Ate, my box, please!" I whispered urgently.

She handed it over.

"Hey! Line up!"

"We've been waiting forever!"

"Cut in line much?"

Ugh, annoying pests! I shot them my death glare—the kind that slices through flesh and bone. Shut up. Let my stare talk.

Ate Tindera gave me the last two boxes. I turned to leave—Someone blocked my path. Now? Seriously?!

"Excuse me!" I snapped.

He didn't budge.

"I need to pass—"

"What's that?" the guy asked.

And the guy was...
