Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: The Final Pursuit

As for little Flandre, as a magic girl, she naturally flew down. She didn't even step on the ground, but floated in the air at about the same height as the others. Of course, the reason for doing so was simple: standing on the ground made her too short, forcing others to look down at her. It was fine when few people were around, but it felt strange when there were many.

"Is he Chang Wei?" little Flandre asked curiously, looking at the man surrounded in the middle.

Lin Gerui nodded, then looked at the man. "Why struggle? You should know, since I've come, I didn't come alone. And if you can escape my subordinates, can you escape the pursuit of the Shadow Guards?"

Just as he finished speaking, several figures dressed in black and wearing bamboo hats emerged from the darkness nearby. Seeing those people, Chang Wei knew he was truly finished this time. As the second-in-command of the Guard Department, he had studied Wei Yenwu countless times and naturally knew the identity of the Black Cloak Shadow Guards. Their appearance only happened with Wei Yenwu's approval; otherwise, not even Madam Fumizuki could command them in the slightest.

He raised his hands in surrender. little Flandre felt that since she had come all this way, she couldn't just do nothing. She then extended her wicked little hand toward him.

Then her hand was grasped.

"It seems I arrived just in time. Let's go, the Governor and Madam are waiting!"

little Flandre looked at Lin Yuxia next to her. It was Lin Yuxia who had interrupted her spell just now; otherwise, she would have crushed a random part of that guy. little Flandre showed she was unhappy, so Lin Yuxia smiled and placed a piece of candy in her palm.

"This is a reward for little Flandre."

Seeing the candy in her hand, little Flandre finally smiled. "Hehehe, little Flandre is going to eat candy!" She then peeled the wrapper and popped the candy into her mouth. Although the taste was mediocre, since it was a reward, it tasted much better than her current mood.

"Can you come with me now?" Lin Yuxia asked.

little Flandre nodded, then floated like a balloon, pulled by Lin Yuxia to a black luxury sedan. Meanwhile, Chang Wei was being led into a nearby van.

When Ms. Zeng upstairs saw the Black Cloaks getting into the car, her last hope vanished. She now clearly understood the weight of the words Lin Gerui had told her before leaving. If not for that, she and her child would probably have been invited by the Guard Department for tea, and how long that tea session would last depended on Governor Wei's attitude toward the matter.

The vehicles soon arrived at the Governors Mansion.

After getting out of the car, little Flandre saw Beatrice and Ch'en Huijie there as well, causing her to instinctively shrink her head. But it was clearly too late to try and hide now. Beatrice and Ch'en, both wearing gentle smiles, flanked the tightly wrapped, ball-like little Flandre and pulled her out... Everyone looked at the bundled mass and fell silent for a few seconds.

"Ahem, take him away first!" Wei Yenwu gestured toward Chang Wei. Although the man had been brought here, he had absolutely no desire to interrogate him. After all, betrayal was commonplace for him; he was used to it. As for why the man betrayed them, someone would naturally pry the answer out of his mouth.

For now, the more important matter was the little thing not far away. As if sensing everyone's gaze fixed on her, little Flandre closed her eyes, curled up, and tried to play dead.

"Old Lin, why don't you tell us what happened!" Seeing little Flandre playing the turtle, Fumizuki looked toward Lin Gerui, who was leaning back and sipping hot tea not far away.

Lin Gerui recounted the entire process: his trip to find Chang Wei, little Flandre's coincidental appearance, and how they went upstairs together before coming back down.

"Alright, alright. Then, our dear Miss little Flandre, when did you find out Chang Wei had a problem?"

little Flandre continued to play dead.

"...How about this, if you tell us, we won't pursue the matter?" Wei Yenwu acted like a strange uncle tempting a child with a lollipop.

At this moment, Beatrice heard little Flandre muttering something. She held her breath in curiosity and finally caught the mumbling: "Confess and receive leniency, serve time in prison; resist and receive severe punishment, go home for the New Year..."

Her expression instantly became incredibly strange, her shoulders twitching, nearly bursting into laughter. Her abnormality was first noticed by Ch'en Huijie.

When the two were suddenly summoned to the Governors Mansion, they were startled, thinking something serious had happened. Before they could learn the reason, little Flandre and the others followed closely behind. Although they didn't know what had occurred, little Flandre's shrinking-turtle appearance suggested it was closely related to her, which is why the two of them had pulled her out.

Beatrice quietly relayed what little Flandre had just said to Ch'en, and Ch'en's expression became uncontrollable upon hearing it. However, Old Wei was still nearby patiently persuading her, but little Flandre's technique for playing the ostrich was perfected; she completely immersed herself in playing games with herself in her mind, paying no attention to what the people outside were saying.

Faced with this situation, what could our Governor do? Forgive her, of course. Sighing, Wei Yenwu rubbed his temples.

"Take her back!"

"Don't take her back, take her to the bureau!"

"This way someone can watch her at all times, preventing her from causing trouble."

"No way, little Flandre still has a few bad guys to catch!" little Flandre became anxious upon hearing this. If they made her stay at the Guard Department during the day and have someone accompany her at night, how could she catch bad guys!

Then Beatrice, quick-eyed and quick-handed, grabbed her cheek. "What is it, not planning to hide anymore!"

"If you don't let me catch bad guys, it's not fun at all!" little Flandre gestured wildly.

"Catch bad guys? Didn't you already catch the bad guys?" Ch'en, standing nearby, noticed the issue.

"Hmph hmph, these aren't the only bad guys!" little Flandre proudly held her head high and puffed out her chest.

"So there are still bad people? Where are they?" It was Fumizuki who spoke. As for Wei Yenwu, he seemed to realize he was currently unpopular with little Flandre, so he wisely kept quiet.

"Several places! little Flandre just came to find the biggest one first!" little Flandre held up her left hand showing three fingers and her right hand showing four.

"Seven locations? Does Chang Wei count as one?" Ch'en asked, noticing Madam Fumizuki's signal.

"Oh, right, we need to exclude that one, so..." little Flandre retracted her right pinky finger, showing three fingers on the left hand and three on the right.

"Six left? little Flandre, how about this, we'll arrange for people to go with you to catch the bad guys, and all the credit will be yours, as long as you hand over all the bad guys to us," Madam Fumizuki asked gently.

"I don't want the credit, I just want you to promise to let me play with those guys first, and I'll hand them over after I'm done playing!"

...At this moment, Fumizuki recalled what little Flandre's "playing" meant based on the people they had captured before.

"Fine, but you must guarantee they stay alive." Before Fumizuki could speak, Wei Yenwu said.

"That's not a problem, I can control myself!" little Flandre indicated that she was just playing, and keeping people alive was incredibly easy.

"Since that's settled, let Little Ch'en lead the team to catch them!" Wei Yenwu looked at Ch'en Huijie, who nodded in agreement.

Ch'en Huijie took out her phone and contacted Hoshiguma, asking her to bring a squad from the Major Crimes Unit and several vehicles to assemble at the Governors Mansion, ready to depart to capture the suspects. Although she didn't know why they had to assemble at the Governors Mansion, one of Hoshiguma's virtues was obedience. So, without asking why, she brought a team over.

"I brought the people you asked for!" Hoshiguma pointed to the vehicles behind her. Since Ch'en asked for several cars, she had brought six, exactly enough for twelve people, with two people per car.

Ch'en Huijie calculated that little Flandre mentioned six locations. Although she didn't know the number of people at each location, allocating at least one car per location should be sufficient.

"Follow me, let's set off!" Ch'en Huijie waved her hand, leading little Flandre and the convoy toward the first target.

At this moment, Beatrice, who had just received instructions from Madam Fumizuki, stepped out only to find the convoy had already left. She was instantly dumbfounded.

"Hey, wait for me! I haven't gotten on the car yet, I haven't gotten on the car!"

Fortunately, Lin Yuxia drove past from the side. "Why didn't you go with them?" she asked, stopping her car beside Beatrice with a puzzled look.

"That damn Ch'en Huijie dared to leave me behind! Chase after them, I'll make her pay!" Beatrice jumped into the car, waving her arms wildly as she shouted.

"Got it, let's go!" Lin Yuxia glanced in the rearview mirror; her father was sitting quietly in the back and hadn't said anything, so she just stepped on the gas and followed.

After her excitement subsided, Beatrice also noticed Lin Gerui in the car. She went completely numb. She kept glancing at Lin Yuxia with her eyes, giving her a look that clearly said, "You didn't say your father was here!". Lin Yuxia raised her eyebrows, indicating that her father was with her, so of course they were leaving together. Beatrice could only stare blankly out the window like a salted fish.

Fortunately, the first target location was not far from the Governors Mansion. Perhaps the enemy operated on the principle that the most dangerous place is the safest place, so they chose an office building less than ten minutes away from the Governors Mansion.

"The target is upstairs?" Ch'en Huijie asked.

"Mhm, but I don't know the exact floor, so we have to check floor by floor!" little Flandre explained that she could sense the target's location, but she couldn't say the specific floor number. Therefore, everyone needed to ascend floor by floor to determine the target's final position.

Ch'en Huijie had already anticipated this. She instructed half the team to stay downstairs while the other half would accompany her upstairs.
