Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Little Flandre's Dream Game

Before they could even head up, a car pulled up beside them, followed immediately by Beatrice's furious roar.

"Pink Sausage Dragon, you bastard! Why did you leave me behind?!"

"Char Siu Cat, what are you doing here?" Ch'en Huijie looked at Beatrice with a face full of surprise.

"You bastard, you're just going to turn your back on me like that? Let me tell you, little Flandre Scarlet is mine! If you're taking her to do something dangerous, it's absolutely not allowed without me there!"

Beatrice's fur stood on end right then and there. Fortunately, Hoshiguma, sensing something was wrong, grabbed her by the waist; otherwise, she would have already lunged at Ch'en.

"Alright, alright. You're just a Beat Officer, you shouldn't be meddling in the affairs of the Major Crimes Unit in the first place... Fine, for little Flandre Scarlet's sake, I'll count you in for now!"

Seeing Beatrice about to blow up again and considering the urgency of the operation, Ch'en Huijie eventually chose to take a step back. After all, what if the targets noticed something was wrong and escaped while she was busy arguing with Beatrice?

So, they all walked into the building together. As soon as they entered, they were intercepted by someone from Property Management. Without waiting for Ch'en Huijie to speak, the Operator at the front pressed a hand against the person's shoulder while pulling out an ID with the other.

"Major Crimes Unit investigating a case. Please cooperate with our operation!"

The Property Management guy wanted to say something more, but when he saw the Major Crimes Unit members drawing their long blades and eyeing him, he immediately shut his mouth obediently. After dealing with the Property Management, the team opened the stairwell and climbed all the way up.

When they reached the twelfth floor, little Flandre finally raised her hand to signal a stop.

"This is the floor!" She pointed toward the hallway not far away.

With a wave of Ch'en Huijie's hand, everyone was fully armed and ready.

"Hey, hey, hey! We agreed to let me play for a bit first! Besides, there are so many rooms on this floor, how do you know who it is before you charge in?"

little Flandre reached out to stop the people preparing to head out... Ch'en Huijie raised her hand to her forehead; she did seem to remember such an agreement.

"Then play quickly!" She signaled everyone to stay at the entrance and wait for little Flandre.

little Flandre flew inside with a chuckle. Five minutes later, she floated back with a pleased expression. "Go up and it's the third room on the left. I opened the door for you."

When Ch'en Huijie led her people over, she saw several people lying in the room. Although they had some minor injuries, the wounds weren't heavy at all. However, they all sat there blankly, looking like they had been completely broken.

"What happened to them?"

An inspection showed they were all in a light coma. Though everyone was confused about what little Flandre had done, there were other locations waiting for them, so they picked up the suspects and began heading out. Once they reached the ground floor, loaded them into the cars, and handcuffed them, the convoy set off toward the next target.

In the car, Ch'en Huijie looked at little Flandre, who was being held in Beatrice's arms.

"Little Flandre, what was with those people? Why did they fall into a coma?"

little Flandre explained that since she couldn't cause too much physical damage to their bodies, she used another method: pulling them into a nightmare to play a game called 'I'll catch you, and if I catch you, I'll hehehe you'.

But little Flandre's skill level in this area was limited, so her methods were a bit crude. To prevent anyone from waking up halfway, she had directly pulled their spirits into her domain, which caused significant mental trauma. That was why these people were now in a coma despite having only minor physical injuries.

To this, Ch'en Huijie's group could only think, 'What can we do? Just their bad luck, I guess.' At least they were alive, right? As for nightmares and mental trauma, as long as they weren't dead, it wasn't much of an issue.

They soon arrived at the second target location. This time it was a shop on a street. Seeing the Lungmen Guard Department cars parked at the door, the people inside bolted.

But two legs clearly couldn't outrun someone who could fly. Combined with the fact that the Guard Department members were all agile, the fastest runner hadn't even made it a hundred meters before little Flandre caught up to him.

Then, little Flandre made a gentle grasping motion in the air. The man's left leg instantly twisted like a pretzel, and he slammed heavily onto the ground.

"Ah, my leg! My leg!"

little Flandre landed in front of him and spread her hands. "Who told you to run so fast? If I didn't break a leg, wouldn't you have gotten away?"

Then, the pursuing Operators handcuffed him directly and, ignoring his broken leg, dragged him toward the car.

"Hiss, what crime did this person commit? Can't you Guard Department people be a bit more gentle?" A passerby with a bleeding heart, seeing the man's wailing state, asked out of pity.

"What crime? Suspected of attacking the Chief Executive and his wife and conspiring to subvert Lungmen. Do you still want to plead for them?" Ch'en Huijie replied after sweeping a glance at the person.

Hearing Ch'en Huijie's words, that person immediately didn't dare continue. Not only that, but the surrounding people also instantly kept their distance, fearing they would be mistaken for accomplices. After all, these two charges were capital offenses anywhere. Not being shot on the spot was considered an act of mercy from the Lord.

Of course, Ch'en Huijie's words weren't just baseless claims. She and Fumizuki had discussed this matter. Fumizuki told her why those previously captured people had targeted little Flandre Scarlet.

The reason was simple: some people didn't want to see Wei Yenwu gain such a powerful asset. If nothing else, the knowledge she possessed alone made those people feel afraid. Plus, she was a child. In their eyes, she wouldn't understand secrecy at all, so Wei Yenwu would naturally be able to extract many good things from her.

Furthermore, would a mysterious Blood Demon joining Lungmen lead to a connection between Lungmen and the people of Kazdel? One must remember that Lungmen was already isolated. And not far to the southwest lay the territory of Kazdel.

Wei Yenwu suddenly having a Blood Demon with an extremely broad range of knowledge under his command could hardly fail to touch some people's nerves. Especially since many of them had already been coveting Lungmen. Now that Wei Yenwu's hidden cards had suddenly been strengthened, how could they not feel afraid and panicked?

Upon learning that her residence was very remote with no one around, those people naturally had some new ideas. As it turned out, these people hadn't expected little Flandre Scarlet's combat strength to be far more terrifying than her appearance suggested.

However, the actions they believed had gone unnoticed were actually caught plain as day by little Flandre Scarlet. If it weren't for the many things happening recently, and Beatrice accompanying her at night so she wouldn't be bored, they would have been caught long ago.

Even now, after being caught, they continued to resist stubbornly. Some were still shouting things like "the Guard Department is making wrongful arrests," trying to cause panic among the bystanders. To this, little Flandre stated she just happened to have a way to make everyone quiet down, and then she directly pulled out their consciousness.

One second they were in the car, and the next they found themselves in a dim corridor covered in yellow wallpaper.

"Ahem, today's game is called 'The Backrooms'..." little Flandre's voice echoed in their hearts.

"Damn it, who are you? Where is this place!" Someone looked left and right, finding nothing but an endless corridor. But under that dim light, something that inspired absolute dread was faintly spreading. They looked behind them; it was still a passage leading to who-knows-where, and they were standing right in the middle of it.

"Hmm, not moving? Not moving won't do, the game can't continue like that. Let me think... I've got it!"

The girl's voice rang out again. Though it was incredibly playful, it made their scalps tingle with fear. Then, a stench like rotting corpses wafted from the surroundings, and black blood began to gradually spread across the floor.

"Everyone follow me!" A man who was clearly the leader saw the situation and led the group to charge in one direction. Accompanying their footsteps, the girl's laughter began to appear. On any other day, they might have thought this laughter sounded quite nice. But in this dim environment, every time the laughter rang out, everyone's hearts couldn't help but twitch.

Seeing those people starting to play the game, little Flandre, who had her eyes closed, opened them with a beaming smile. By now, the vehicle was already on the way to the third location.

"How are they?" Ch'en Huijie only asked after seeing little Flandre open her eyes.

"Them? They're having a lot of fun! It seems I, little Flandre, have quite a talent for making games!" little Flandre's scarlet eyes were exceptionally bright.

At this moment, Ch'en Huijie and the others looked at the people lying in the car nearby—faces distorted, twitching constantly as if stuck in a never-ending nightmare—and couldn't help but offer a few seconds of silent prayer for them. Being caught by little Flandre could only be considered your bad luck.

The arrest operation went exceptionally smoothly. To be more precise, after the second experience, the convoy no longer parked so conspicuously in front of people's doors. Each time, they stopped a hundred meters away. Then, Beatrice would carry little Flandre to the target location, silently drag them into a dream, and then call Ch'en Huijie up to collect the people.
