Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Alina's Plea for Help

Once the arrests at all six locations were completed, the six vehicles of the Guard Department were filled with unconscious people. At this moment, everyone, including the first batch, was imprisoned by Flandre Scarlet in a game called "D-day Landing." Only, they were soldiers armed with clubs. And besides the single path in front of them, there was only the sea behind.

As for Flandre, she split into three. One was in charge of the autocannon, one held an infinite rocket launcher, and one held a Barrett, acting as sentries on the only road. Those who charged would die before the autocannon; those who didn't would be blown away by the rocket launcher; those who tried to swim away would be picked off by the sniper rifle. In any case, it was a cycle of life and death—dying and reviving, reviving and dying. Resisting meant death, and waiting numbly for death meant death as well. After dying, their status would refresh, and then they would continue to die.

Fortunately, the convoy soon returned to the Guard Department, and only then did Flandre release all their consciousnesses. However, after dying an unknown number of times, these people had become somewhat numb. Feeling that life was meaningless and praying for total release, they were very cooperative when facing interrogation by the Guard Department. One after another, they stated that as long as Lungmen was willing to give them a swift end, they would tell everything they knew without reservation.

Faced with such an excessively "good" request, the interrogators looked at each other in bewilderment; eventually, after reporting to Wei Yenwu, he agreed. Soon, secrets that would normally shock Lungmen were revealed one by one. Among them was the mission involving Ch'en and Nine.

After reading the information, Wei Yenwu's expression was incredibly grim. He naturally knew there was something wrong with that incident involving Ch'en Huijie and Nine. An "accident" had turned his designated heir and the head of the Guard Department into two Infected; how could he not feel distressed? However, the other party had acted very discreetly. If not for this incident where one of the participants spoke up voluntarily just to die quickly, he probably would have needed a lot of effort and luck to find the cause.

After Wei Yenwu's brief display of anger, the entire situation in Lungmen underwent significant upheaval. Some were suddenly stripped of all their positions, while others vanished. Fortunately, Lungmen was young enough that there were plenty of people capable and willing to take their places. So even though many names familiar from television suddenly disappeared, Lungmen quickly returned to normal after a brief period of instability.

While Lungmen's situation was in turmoil, what was Flandre doing? She was preparing to head out.

At this time, the flames of war had already ignited in the west, with the Ursus army entering the Kazdel border in force. In such a situation, she should have just watched from the sidelines, but she suddenly received a message from Alina. Because of the conflict between Kazdel and Ursus, the Reunion Movement was significantly affected.

In particular, Yelena had run into regular Ursus troops during a patrol. To protect the Yeti Squad, she chose to cover their retreat, resulting in a shell exploding near her and leaving her seriously injured. Although she had been saved for now, the Reunion Movement's supplies were too scarce. The Rhodes Island medical Operator stationed there stated that without sufficient medical supplies, even if Yelena survived, her infection level would rise sharply.

Having no other choice, Alina thought of Flandre. She could only hope Flandre could help her obtain a batch of much-needed medical supplies.

[Don't worry, I'll get there as soon as possible]

After Flandre replied, she took her bank card and headed out. Because of previous events, Wei Yenwu had left people to monitor her actions. Upon seeing her enter a pharmacy to buy large quantities of various medicines, they immediately reported to Wei Yenwu. Wei Yenwu then contacted Beatrice, asking her to inquire with Flandre about what was happening.

Flandre explained the difficulties the Reunion Movement was facing and said she was going to bring medicine there.

"I'm going with you!" Having received the news, Ch'en Huijie arrived before Flandre.

"No, it's too dangerous!" Wei Yenwu flatly refused. Ch'en widened her eyes and stared intently at Wei Yenwu.

Wei Yenwu then looked toward Flandre. "Is the information reliable? And how did you receive word from over there?"

Flandre pointed to herself. "I found a blood relative over there, Sister Alina. We can contact each other using the power of our bloodline. The message was sent by her. So it's absolutely reliable and true."

They had heard from Flandre before about her relationship with Alina and Talulah, so they knew that if the news came from Alina, there was no need to worry about its validity.

"Huijie, I know you want to see Talulah very much, as do I. But I cannot let you take risks at this time. I will give Flandre a squad of Shadow Guards. They will take the first batch of supplies to the Reunion Movement and establish initial contact. Once the war between Ursus and Kazdel is over, if you want to go, I won't refuse. How about it!"

The look Wei Yenwu gave Ch'en Huijie was full of weariness; after all, only an uncle would know how much of a handful this niece could be. Ch'en wanted to argue further, but seeing the look in Wei Yenwu's eyes, the words wouldn't come out. She opened her mouth but ultimately chose to compromise helplessly. Because she herself knew how dangerous this great war between Ursus and Kazdel was.

At this time, all passages from Lungmen to the west had been closed, and the entire city of Lungmen had retreated hundreds of kilometers toward Great Yan to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Every day, news of the battles in the west flew into Lungmen like snowflakes. Under these circumstances, Wei Yenwu would have to be truly reckless to let her go.

After confirming the departing party, Wei Yenwu extended his hand toward Flandre.

"What is it?" Flandre looked at him in confusion.

"Give me the list of supplies the Reunion Movement needs. I'll prepare them for you. It'll be much faster than you buying them yourself."

"Oh!" Flandre handed the list over.

After reading it, Wei Yenwu said, "These supplies are prepared at the bare minimum, aren't they? I'll re-prepare them for you and then double it. Let's try to fill a whole vehicle. Departure in two hours. Any problems?"

Flandre nodded, indicating there were no problems.

"Huijie, you handle the stocking yourself. You probably wouldn't feel at ease leaving it to someone else."

Clearly, Wei Yenwu knew how to smooth things over. Given Ch'en's situation, if he didn't give her a sense of participation, she might actually sneak onto the vehicle and follow them. Ch'en was clearly satisfied with this arrangement as well. After taking the list and selecting a vehicle, she rushed out of the room.

"Just wait here. Fumizuki and I will take this opportunity to write a letter for you to bring to Talulah."

In less than two hours, Ch'en Huijie rushed back, and Fumizuki brought over a video camera.

"Little Ch'en, your uncle and I have both written letters to little Talulah. I imagine you have much to say to her, but there probably isn't enough time to write it all down. So use this camera. Say what you want to say to the camera, and then let Flandre bring it to Talulah."

Ch'en Huijie stared at the camera lens for a few seconds before nodding firmly. "Talulah, it's me, Ch'en Huijie..."

Watching Ch'en's emotional display in front of the camera, Flandre felt a bit awkward and couldn't help but touch her cheek. Ten minutes later, the camera was thrust into Flandre's arms.

"When you come back, remember to have Talulah film herself so that we, her family and friends, can know how she's really doing," Lady Fumizuki said softly.

"Alright!" Flandre nodded and then looked into the vehicle. It was an oversized three-row tactical off-road vehicle. However, the last row had been completely removed and the interior was packed tight with various supplies. Besides the Shadow Guard driving and Flandre in the passenger seat, two more Shadow Guards sat in the back.

After confirming the supplies were complete, Flandre bid a reluctant farewell to Beatrice and Ch'en Huijie, and the vehicle drove toward the port leaving Lungmen.

Due to the war in the west, the western ports had been closed, so they detoured from the north, planning to cross into Ursus territory along small paths from Great Yan. The Reunion Movement was no longer at the location Flandre previously knew; it was too close to the front. They had migrated west, situated at the junction of Ursus, Victoria, and Leithanien.

Finding them wasn't hard with her bloodline connection to Alina, but the difficulty was traversing Ursus without being detected. In this regard, the Shadow Guards demonstrated their professionalism. They drove in such a way that they managed to cross the border from Great Yan to Ursus, almost reaching Chernobog without being spotted by the border guards.
