The first wolf of the pack lunged at him. Kai's eyes focused on the wolf, and for a moment, it seemed like it was moving in slow motion. He saw the right path to attack and lunged forward, slashing downward.
SLASH
Blade met flesh as the wolf attempted to bite him, but Kai had more reach and hit first. The sword dug into the shoulder, blood squirted out like a fountain, and the wolf dropped to the ground, filled with pain, but it wasn't dead yet.
Kai ignored it. It wasn't dead, but it wouldn't do anything for a bit due to the blood loss effect that it currently had. When an injury mid-game is heavy, blood loss causes constant loss of HP until treated and causes growing weakness.
He stepped back to analyze the rest of the wolves. They had all reached close and were coming to flank him from every direction. Luckily, with the buff active, he could move faster, see faster, and that was what he needed right now.
His eyes scanned around, and then he spotted a space right under one of the wolves that attacked, the perfect place. So without hesitation, he lunged forward and slid under the wolf while slashing upward. His sword dug into the soft flesh of the wolf's underbelly, blood and guts spilled out onto the floor, and the wolf collapsed to the ground dead.

Kai ignored the notification. He rolled and came to a stop, standing up fast to look at the wolves that were left, and one was already in front of him, teeth wide open and slamming down into his calf.
BITE
"Arghhhh!" Kai groaned in immense pain. His entire body jerked. He wanted to scream and cry, but he couldn't. This wasn't the time to be weak. He gritted his teeth and stabbed downward, penetrating the neck of the wolf and killing it instantly.

He backed away from the dead wolf, leg bleeding, but the status effect boosted his HP regeneration, and though it didn't heal the wound, it kept it from draining him.
He held his sword with both hands and looked at the four wolves still standing. They didn't attack carelessly like before. They kept their distance and slowly started walking him down.
This was what happened when intelligent NPCs were created. They learned as well as real beings, and they could easily recognize threats and change how they attacked said threats.
Kai was running out of time. He knew this, so he had to act fast. He suddenly rushed at one. With his focus on that one, the other three lunged forward at him, flanking from the side, but that was the plan. He baited them.
"Check," he said, as he suddenly turned, kicking the ground extremely hard and forcing dust and sand to rise right into the eyes of the wolves.
Whimper
They quickly backed away in a rush, which allowed him to focus on the first one he had attacked. The wolf saw that its three brothers had backed away and, for a moment, was hit with fear due to not having any backup. This moment of fear was all Kai needed. He slashed down, the sword cutting right into the neck of the wolf before it could react.

With that wolf dead, three were left, and the same move that had been thrown caused them to back away, which basically put a lot of distance between each of them, allowing Kai to bolt toward one and attack immediately. The wolf stood no chance and was instantly slain.

Only now did the two wolves finally gather themselves enough to try to press him together, but they couldn't rush it. They tried to keep some good distance and ensure they didn't get taken unaware.
Kai noticed their hesitation too. They kept a safe distance between him and themselves. There was no way he could attack one and not get attacked by the other.
Without choice, he gripped his sword like a spear and then threw it at one with all his strength. The sword whistled through the air and stabbed right into the side of the wolf, a shallow wound, but enough to cause pain and give Kai enough time to lunge forward at the second.
The second stepped back in panic, but then rushed ahead, since there was no choice. It believed it would be best to simply attack, teeth wide open, bite coming down to rip Kai's head off.
Kai kept focus, eyes locked on the wolf, and then at the right moment, he lunged forward with both hands and grabbed the inside of the wolf's mouth. The razor-sharp teeth dug into his hands, blood poured, but he ignored the pain and immediately started pulling the mouth apart with all the strength that he had.
"Arghhhhhhhhhhh!"
With one final burst, he ripped the mouth apart and killed the wolf, tossing the body to the side.

Kai didn't even pause to breathe. He rushed at the last one. It tried to get away, but the sword that was stabbed into it fell out. Kai picked it up, and with full precision, stabbed into the neck until the sword burst out of the other side and spilled onto the floor.

At that same time, the first wolf finally died from blood loss.
Kai stood there, breathing heavily after the ordeal, but a smile rested on his lips.
"I won," he muttered.

While Kai was taking a rest there, LordGooner kept his word. He actually sent the gift, and not just any gift, but two of some of the higher-tier ones.
Kai looked at the notification with disbelief in his eyes. "Oh my God."
