Chapter 16 - 15.

Inside Adam's car, the city lights slid past the windows in blurred streaks.

Ella broke the silence first.

"You know… I really love your humor. It just makes my day."

Adam glanced at her, half-smiling.

"I know how good that sounds."Then softer, "Thank you."

He tapped the steering wheel lightly.

"You know, we never really got a chance to talk properly."

Ella turned toward him.

"So… how about lunch tomorrow? Two o'clock. I'll pick you up."

Ella's lips curved into a shy smile.

"That sounds good. I'd like that."

She hesitated, then added,"I want to know you more."

Adam looked at her for a second longer than necessary.

She had already turned back to the window, watching the lights outside.

He smiled to himself.

Then faced the road again.

Some connections start loud.

Some start quietly.

This one began in silence.

..

The café bell chimed softly as they stepped inside.

Ella looked around, eyes lighting up.

"Wowaa… this looks supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

Adam laughed.

"I like your accent."

He pulled out a chair for her.

Ella raised an eyebrow, smiling. "What a gentleman."

They both grinned.

Adam sat across from her.

"So… what would you like?"

Ella glanced at the menu, then back at him.

"Whatever you're having."

Adam nodded. "Alright. Brave choice."

He placed the order.

While they waited, Adam leaned back.

"So… tell me about your favorites."

Ella didn't even think twice.

"I love vintage colors. Softcore music. Beaches. Sunsets. Basically anything that gives me peace."

She paused, realizing how much she'd said.

"Oh—sorry. I'm yapping."

Adam shook his head.

"I like hearing you."

Then, casually,

"And about me… I love everything you love."

Ella blinked.

Her cheeks warmed.

She looked down at her hands, suddenly shy.

The food arrived.

Adam took one bite and frowned dramatically.

Ella panicked.

"What? Is it bad?"

Adam nodded slowly.

"Yeah."

Her face fell—

Then he grinned.

"It's criminally good. I might sue this café."

Ella burst out laughing.

"You're impossible."

Adam pointed at her plate.

"Careful. That sandwich looks innocent, but it bites back."

She laughed harder.

Then he added,

"See? That fry just judged you."

Ella covered her mouth. "Stop! People will think we're crazy."

Adam leaned closer.

"We are crazy. Just stylishly."

She snorted.

He pretended to look shocked.

"Did you just snort?"

Ella hid her face. "No!"

"Yes you did. Confirmed. Officially adorable."

She threw a napkin at him.

They kept laughing between bites, Adam throwing in terrible jokes, fake accents, dramatic reactions—until Ella's stomach hurt from laughing.

Time slipped by.

Outside the café, Adam walked her to the car.

Ella smiled softly.

"I really enjoyed today. Thank you for making my day."

She hesitated.

"Hope we can do this again… and again."

Adam gave a small bow.

"All my pleasure, my lady."

She smiled wider.

Some people enter your life loudly.

Some enter gently.

Adam did both.
