Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - The Betrayal

Ethan Vale had always believed in perfection. In music, in fame, in love. To the world, he was untouchable-the golden boy, the voice that could melt hearts, the smile that made thousands of girls scream and cry at once.

But tonight, everything he thought he knew about love, trust, and himself shattered in a single, unbearable moment.

It started like any other evening. The venue was packed, lights flashing, fans screaming, and cameras capturing every smile, every gesture. Ethan's band, Silver Pulse, performed flawlessly. He hit every note, every high, every low, every emotion in the music-but his eyes were always on her.

Aria Knox. His girlfriend.

She was supposed to be backstage, supporting him, maybe even cheering him on. But when he spotted her laughing in the VIP section, his chest tightened. That same laughter...he knew it anywhere. He turned his head, heart sinking, and then he saw him.

Blake Ryder.

Aria's hand in Blake's, her lips brushing against his in a way that made Ethan's stomach twist into knots.

At first, he froze, unable to breathe.

It couldn't be real.

It had to be a mistake.

But it wasn't. Every movement, every look, every laugh confirmed it. She had cheated. And not quietly, not in shadows, but in front of cameras, under flashing lights, where the world could see.

Ethan wanted to scream. To run. To pull her away by force. But he couldn't. He had to stay. He had to perform. He had to smile.

So he sang.

Notes poured from his lips, angelic, flawless, but hollow. Every word felt like a knife through his chest. His voice was perfect, but his heart was broken. Every cheer from the crowd, every camera flash, every fan screaming his name felt like mockery.

Because she had chosen him. And then, she had chosen someone else.

Backstage, the band tried to celebrate. They slapped him on the back, laughed, and told him the concert was amazing. He smiled, just enough to keep the mask in place. Inside, he was screaming. Inside, the golden boy was bleeding.

When the last song ended, Ethan didn't celebrate. He slipped away, unnoticed, through the maze of corridors that led to the quiet backstage stairwell. He didn't care about fame, fans, or cameras. He didn't care about smiling. He only cared about the hole in his chest that no song could fill.

He sat on the cold steps behind the arena, hands covering his face, trying to hold back the tears. His mind replayed every moment of their relationship-the laughs, the songs, the promises he thought were real. And now it all felt like lies.

How could she do this? How could she betray him so openly?

Every memory twisted into pain. Every word of affection now sounded like mockery.

"I...was everything to her," he whispered into the darkness. "And she...she threw it all away."

A shaky laugh escaped his lips. He wanted to hate her. He did. But the hate mingled with heartbreak, and he didn't know which feeling was stronger.

He thought of Blake, standing there smugly, enjoying the attention. The rival, the one he despised on stage, the one who had always wanted to overshadow him. And now...he had taken Aria. Taken the one person Ethan had believed in.

Anger bubbled in his chest. Not just at Blake. Not just at Aria. But at everyone. At the world. At the people cheering outside, oblivious to his pain. At himself for trusting. At love for being so cruel.

Ethan Vale, the boy who everyone admired, the boy who had everything, felt powerless.

He cried quietly, letting the tears fall for the first time in years. He had always been the golden boy. Perfect. Untouchable. Strong. But tonight, that image shattered. Tonight, he realized perfection meant nothing when trust could be broken so easily.

Hours later, when the last crew members left, he didn't move. He sat in silence, staring at the empty steps, numb. The arena lights dimmed, leaving only the faint glow of the city behind the walls.

He made a vow to himself, bitter and cold:

No one would ever hurt him like this again.

No one would ever see him cry again.

No one would ever touch his heart again.

He didn't know what that would mean for love. For friendship. For trust. He only knew one thing: from now on, he would guard himself. He would let no one in.

Not ever.

And somewhere deep in his chest, under the anger and the heartbreak, a small, quiet voice whispered:

The boy everyone loves...has stopped loving.

And for the first time in his life, Ethan Vale felt completely
