Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Guardiola: Don’t Let Leo Lin Slip Away!

Premier League Summit Showdown: Manchester City vs. Liverpool!

Super Clash Set to Ignite as the Title Race Heats Up Early!

Leo Lin Returns Just in Time as Liverpool Face Manchester City at Full Strength!

Media outlets across Europe have all turned their focus to this blockbuster clash. Whoever wins will claim the top spot in the Premier League and continue leading the table.

In recent years, Manchester City and Liverpool have become each other's fiercest rivals. Since Mansour's arrival at the Etihad, City have poured in massive investment, and with smart management and long-term planning, they've gradually built a highly complete system. Their current squad is nothing short of terrifying.

Under Pep Guardiola's meticulous shaping, and after last season's disappointment of finishing empty-handed, Manchester City have surged forward this year, racking up wins across all competitions.

Pre-match fan predictions slightly favored City, giving them a 57% chance of victory. As club legends, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher also expressed some concern for Liverpool.

"I think if Liverpool want to beat Manchester City, the first priority has to be solid defense," Gerrard said, advocating a defensive counterattacking approach.

"I think the exact opposite," Jamie Carragher cut in, holding a completely different view.

"So many teams have tried playing on the counter against City this season—United, Spurs—which one of them actually won?"

"I say we should go toe-to-toe with them!"

Gerrard looked at Carragher as if he'd lost his mind.

"Go toe-to-toe?"

"This match is at City's ground, not Anfield. We should be more cautious."

The two held opposing views, and Liverpool fans quickly split into camps—some backing Gerrard, others siding with Carragher. Some favored caution, some aggression, and some even thought the aggressive camp wasn't bold enough.

Klopp and Krawietz stayed up all night, analyzing how to deal with Manchester City. Both men took this showdown extremely seriously, and Krawietz's stance largely aligned with Gerrard's.

"We'll play quick counterattacks, use the front three, and combine that with Lin's protection through the middle. We absolutely have a chance to punch through City's defense with the limited attacking time we get!"

Back in their Borussia Dortmund days, the two had used this very approach against Bayern Munich, with great success.

But as Klopp studied City's current squad and system, a devilish idea lingered in his mind, refusing to fade.

After a long silence, Klopp finally spoke, his eyes fixed on Krawietz, brimming with energy.

Krawietz felt a jolt in his chest. The last time he'd seen that look was when Klopp had led his youthful squad into an all-out attacking battle against Bayern Munich in a Champions League final.

"Manchester City are strong," Klopp said calmly.

"But are we weaker than them?"

His tone was even, yet filled with unwavering conviction.

"Everyone keeps saying we should play on the counter, that we should avoid their edge," Klopp smiled.

"We'll go toe-to-toe with them."

"Straight-up attack versus attack."

Krawietz said nothing and immediately began working with Klopp on plans for an all-out offensive. He knew that once Klopp wore that look, no one could stop him.

The football world has always needed its madmen. Guardiola is one. Mourinho is one. And Klopp certainly is one too.

All eyes counted down the days, until October 30 finally arrived.

The Premier League summit showdown!

Major livestreams opened an hour early as countless fans flooded in. Broadcast rooms across England, France, Germany, and beyond were packed, with viewer numbers climbing rapidly.

"Our Manchester City are unbeatable!"

"The Blue Moon is shining—no one can stop us!"

"The Etihad welcomes you!"

"Liverpool will win! Red will fill the sky!"

On ESPN's broadcast, the fans' favorite duo, Jon Champion and Jim Beglin, were ready.

"Hello, football fans! We're delighted to bring you this week's marquee matchup!"

"I'm Jon Champion."

"For this showdown, we've also invited a special guest commentator, Rio Ferdinand!"

Rio Ferdinand waved and nodded to the viewers.

"Both teams have submitted their starting lineups. Let's start with Manchester City."

Seeing City's lineup, Rio Ferdinand couldn't help but smile and shake his head.

"This Manchester City side is just too strong."

"In goal, Ederson, who quickly became a key part of Guardiola's system after joining the club."

"The three center-backs are Otamendi, Stones, and Danilo."

"At left-back, Benjamin Mendy—powerful, strong, and fast."

"At right-back, Kyle Walker, England's speedster."

"Sitting in front of the defense is Fernandinho, a hugely experienced Brazilian holding midfielder."

"Guardiola once said that if you give him eleven Fernandinhos, he can win everything."

"In midfield, David Silva partners Kevin De Bruyne."

"That's easily one of the very best midfield pairings in modern football—honestly, if not for Modrić and Toni Kroos, I wouldn't even add 'one of.'"

"Up front, Agüero alongside Jesus, equally lethal."

"Especially Agüero, nicknamed the 'King of the Box,' with an incredible scoring rate."

"He has the highest goals-per-game ratio in Premier League history and could challenge multiple records, including the all-time hat-trick mark."

Rio then moved on to Liverpool's lineup.

"For Liverpool, goalkeeper Simon Mignolet."

"The back line features Andrew Robertson, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, and Trent Alexander-Arnold."

"Two of the most dangerous attacking fullbacks in world football."

"The double pivot is Jordan Henderson and Emre Can."

"Henderson offers relentless coverage, while Emre Can provides forward drive and has recently found better form."

"In midfield, Leo Lin."

"Fresh off winning the U17 World Cup, he's been named the most closely watched young player in world football."

"The front three are Mané, Firmino, and Salah—tremendous firepower."

"Although Liverpool are extremely strong in midfield and attack, the center-back position still needs reinforcement, so I believe they'll opt for a defensive counterattacking approach today."

Even Jon Champion shared that view, and most agreed.

Inside both dressing rooms, the starting elevens were ready. Captain Henderson wrapped up his final words and led the team into the tunnel.

Leo Lin followed at the very back. To his right was a relaxed Agüero, who gave him a friendly nod.

Moments later, referee Atkinson led both teams onto the pitch.

As Leo Lin stepped onto the field, the stadium erupted in thunderous cheers. He had already become one of the hottest stars in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola stood on the touchline, staring intently at Leo Lin.

Earlier, Leo Lin had expressed admiration for Maria. If it were anyone else praising his daughter, Guardiola would have felt pleased—it would have been simple recognition. But coming from this particular young man, he couldn't bring himself to feel happy at all. Instead, an uneasy feeling crept into his chest.

Fans in the livestream quickly noticed Guardiola's unusual reaction.

"Guardiola, stay strong!"

"Is Guardiola sensing the threat from Leo Lin?"

"Let me translate Guardiola's inner scream: Leo Lin, I'm in trouble!"
